A few days ago I received my Paramount modified to smokeless powder with a brux barrel and some more improved parts. I already had the opportunity to shoot with it. I set my target at 104 yards and it actually grouped about 1/2 inch, thanks Tim
Tim reworked my Savage 10 ML II making it safer for magnum loads with a new 40 caliber Brux barrel. And its a real one-hole shooter now! Tim converted CVA Paramount in 45 caliber for my son. What a solid performer!! The bolt face is perfectly machined. The Brux barrel looks like it was made for the Paramount receiver. Tim’s attention to every detail is quite evident. Thanks for another awesome firearm. Mike W 10/24
I had Tim covert my paramount HTR to a smokeless .40 cal. The first time out shooting it I put 3 shots in the same hole at 100 yards (.1 inches ) Now I know I will likely never shoot a group like that ever again but the point is this rifle is spectacular! Tim talked me through the whole process and kept me informed with the progress. Very friendly and knowledgeable .
Mr.tim at custom gun and ammo just converted my paramount muzzleloader to smokeless muzzleloader with a brux barrel.it shot a clover leaf 3 shot group less than 1/2 inch at 100 yards..awesome!also mr.Tim is a great man to work with.it shoots a group like my 308 and my Weatherby 257.this smokeless muzzleloader will be a lot easier to hunt and take care of.and is a great looking gun.
I had broken into the smokeless muzzleloading about 10 years ago as I purchased a Savage 10 ML II. Great rifle however my brother pointed out the issues some people had with this rifle. After searching the Internet for someone to make my Savage safer, I chose to have Tim Moss re-work the Savage receiver adding a 40 caliber Brux barrel and re-working my bolt. Tim's middle-name should be precision because my new Savage in 40 caliber is a real work of art. It is safer to shoot even with 90 grains of H-4350, less recoil with the Patriot brake on the nose, and it beats the accuracy of my trusted for years Ruger .308. I put a Timney trigger in and added a Vortex 5 x 25 Strike Eagle and shoot the Pittman 250 and 300 grain bullets. This rifle is better than awesome - thanks Tim Moss!! Anyone wishing to speak, Tim may give out my number.
Shout out to Tim at CGAR. Purchased one of his cva scout v2 smokeless muzzle loaders and WOW. Its shorter, lighter and easier to manage in The woods not to mention pushes a 300 gr bullet at 2500 fps. 300 yd shots not a problem with this setup. Enjoyed it so much I hunted with it entire rifle season. Took a nice buck and a black bear. If its time for a smokeless conversion get with the guys at CGAR. You wont regret it.
I had Custom Guns and Ammo convert a Paramount for me last year I have took several deer with it very nice work and Incredibly accurate only gun I hunt with now shoots a 270 grain bullet at 3200 ft per second totally confident taking deer at 500 yards with this muzzleloader which is incredible thanks you guys
Before my eyes went bad from macular degeneration and ended my machinist career, I wanted to build a modernized 19th Century Needle Fire Rifle that was some what based on the Chassepot system. It would have had at least two bearing lugs for safety. But the cartridge was the special item was a semi-selfcontained cartridge made up of three Pytodex or some other pellet powder glued tp each other and the 250 grain paper patched bullet using a nitrocellulose glue like finger nail lacquer and a felt base to hold the percussion cap. . If necessary, the cartridge could be stiffened further by layers of nitrated paper around the powder charge using more nitrocellulose lacquer. Such a cartridge would also be water proof and prevent hydroscopic degradation of the charge. But with my eyes so bad I can no longer use sights on a rifle, I shelved the project
@@hulsey19750 yes it does not need ignition change from the large rifle primer, what I did was adjust the receiver to grip the primer real tight, and did a bunch of test loads 5 grains at a time till I got the speed up to 2777 fps. It’s completely stock but it’s built way better than the Remington much heavier steel
I like the noncorrosive properties of smokeless powder. If someone has a bunch of BH209 I'm sure you would have loading data for it. I will probably get the whole gun to avoid the extra postage. I suspect this will cause a period of time where I am sleeping on the sofa.
Anyone looking to convert their cva paramount to a smokeless muzzleloader Tim Moss from custom guns and ammo mocksville NC is the man for the job. Sent mine in a couple of weeks ago and already have it back. Shoots fantastic. Couldn't be happier. Randy Smith. 12-18-22
Just came across this video and subscribed to your channel. I'm not new to the smokeless game as I have a CVA Scout converted by Hankins. I have a few questions for you: Did you have to open up the barrel channel on the stock to accept the Brux and did you bed it after?. Also could you use a Bergara HMR short action to do this build ?
Yes, the channel needs to be enlarged. We have done them with bedding and without and haven’t seen any noticeable difference either way. The Bergara HMR in .308 is a good conversion platform.
FYI you can have muzzleloaders revolvers in like anything under a cannon mailed to your door. People very erroneously think CA has the worst laws but I disagree!!! NY abd NJ plus Massachusetts abc Hawaii are way worse states and the number of guns shows it. CA is well stocked despite peoples thoughts… I escaped that’s not my issue now…
Have a question for you sir i have a new England 50 cal muzzleloader and i would like to convert the breech plug to use the large rifle primers can you convert it over

I would like to thank tim for my new paramount . Very accurate and everything I could ask for in a rifle. Maybe my favorite of all my custom guns.

I converted my 40 cal and with 45 grains of Accurate 5744 and a 225 grain bullet it ran 2777 fps. And I said that’s good enough for me!
Can you just change the igntion and shoot the factory barrel using smokeless powder
