This event looks similar to what happened to Chris Pronger of the St Louis Blues in the 90s. Pronger was hit in the chest with a puck, and immediately collapsed and had to be resuscitated on the ice. There are you tube videos showing this event. It was later explained as an induced arrhythmia, like what is being described in this instance. Amazingly, Pronger was back playing within a week, and had a long career afterward. I'm hoping that Damar Hamlin will be as lucky as Pronger was.
Pronger got hit with a puck (much denser object than a shoulder) going 80 mph right in the chest, this guy barely got hit hard. You're comparing apples and oranges.
