Creality Scan Raptor Vs Otter - Medium Object Scanning Experience

  • Fact about Otter
    - There's frame limit at 10,000 frames. So, you cannot go beyond this (5:30 minutes) It will force user to stop scanning even when your hardware is capable of.
    - Otter tracks faster in geometry mode, adding geometry to the object will help with tracking and it's much better than marker mode.
    Fact about Raptor
    - NIR cannot see black color in small radius curve shape in both geometry and marker mode.
    - No frame limit found. Only warning at 10,000 frames.
    - Blue laser scan smooth like butter.

    Hi, could you try the raptor in direct sunlight? or a very long scan with little detail (using markers) I hired a Einscan HD for a couple of weeks which worked great in the workshop but would lose tracking in direct sun or scanning a long object (2mtrs) even when using markers, the EinScan HX with blue laser was supposed to help but the HX is way out of my budget, While I understand the Raptor is a "Budget" Scanner your tests are proving it to be a very capable scanner.

    Can you combine scans from IR mode and laser mode respectively taken with the Raptor? It would be nice to combine the texture with the accuracy of the laser

      @Payo-TensileCreator  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Yes, and you can even combine scans from Raptor and Otter. Example, get rough detail of large object with Otter NIR large mode and scan high detail area with Raptor blue laser then merge them together.

    Hey mate - love the vids! How does the Otter go with scanning black boxes like the centre console of a car? Trying to decide between the Otter and the Revopoint Pop3 / Mini2 for products I design for cars that are 3D printed. Thanks heaps! Subbed!

      Dashboard and console, I'd recommend Otter in large object mode. Try to pair it with laptop with Nvidia GPU at least RTX4060. POP3 can't see black/metallic and scans speed is only 12 FPS versus 30 FPS in Otter.

      I've that Revopoint mini too. I know exactly how you feel. I'd recommend Raptor for mechanical object, it's easier to scan and the accuracy is high, up to 50 micron in my testing. But if you use Otter, the accuracy is lower, around 200 microns.

      It's 12V 2.0A. But it actually pulls less than 0.4 A and uses less power than Otter. The DC adaptor that comes with has 5.5mm DC jack positive. I use it with PD power bank that can supply 12V 3A and USB C to 5.5mm Jack adaptor, works just fine.
