    I'm only a beginner to carp fishing but judging by my pond fish they become lethargic in winter, not interested in food and I was advised to stop feeding altogether in the winter months. In this video you are hoping to catch carp in low water temperatures. The fish are there, same as height of summer, but probably not interested in feeding. I will probably not bother targetting winter carp but will probably go for winter river fishing for dace and perhaps pike. Love watching your videos and have learned a lot! 👍

    • @WestysAngling
      @WestysAngling  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you ! I am glad you are enjoying them. They do become lethargic but they definitely don’t stop feeding, it’s certainly a challenge in the winter months, you need to find the deepest parts of the lake 🎣 you can usually pick up a couple of fish in a session.

    Great vid, it’s winter and we all blank at this time of year especially with the cold spell we just had , marine halibut is a brilliant groundbait but I always mix with other groundbait , usually green or a sweet groundbait in winter , more sweet in winter . Another great video - Happy New Year by the way. As someone has already commented, that groundbait is great in the warmer months, but I shy away from it in colder water conditions (not that it affected your result in this video, the weather etc was definitely against you, & fish still very lethargic after the freeze we’ve just had). One other thing to try, I notice you use banded hook lengths for your wafter fishing. I find that spikes/screws are more effective with wafters (especially using 8mm & bigger). I think the weight of the spike/screw helps the wafter sit better/balance the wafter effect. You can test it in some water at home. It’s only a small change, but as you know, these small changes can have a big difference in your catch rate. Congrats & Good Luck with your new job, & although it may mean fewer videos for us, I hope you enjoy your new position. 👍🏻🎣

    Thanks for the interesting vid in difficult circumstances. Watch your health. You might need a day or two in bed like your dad. The fish will still be there.
    Can I ask what’s the Rod bag? I bought one the will take 11ft but not 12 ft rods.

      Thanks Bob ! Preston innovations supra 195cm 6 rod holdall. The 195cm fits the 12ft, they do different lengths 👌🏻🎣
