I think that when you have so much money that you could buy anything, buying stuff loses its touch. You remember that happiness does not come from large houses and fancy cars. Purpose on the other hand can make one happy, which is why Musk focusses on his companies instead of personal luxury.
It's much simpler than that. Taxes.
I doubt someone in that position would worry about taxes.
A lot of people say stuff like this but I feel like that's easily the case when you're not rich. Like sure but I'd rather be rich and worry about it than be poor then preach about it.

@@dehanbadenhorst1398 you answered your own question. It's the property where the mobile home sits on. Despite the name, mobile homes here are not really mobile because land property is so insanely expensive that the location of the mobile home community gets factored into the price.

I feel like I would do something like this if I was an ambitious billionaire. We buy houses, in part, so we can have the access to things like appliances and storage space as well as a place to rest. He can literally have basically anything brought to him and seems to prefer to work anyway. All he really needs is a bed, bath, and… actually, that might be it. He can just throw his clothes away and have someone buy, wash, and deliver him new ones everyday.

I don't want a mansion, If I were rich I'd buy a normal house, maybe on a big farm or estate but it wouldn't need to be a giant house. A bigger house just means more things to dust...

@@2mono7 I've never understood that, when I'm home alone in my 2500sqft house it's was too much and empty feeling. Some people need the visual perception of wealth I guess, as soon as all my kids are moved out I'm selling and getting either something smaller or something that is a lot less rooms just bigger ones. Kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and living room, that's all I need. I grew up in a 19 foot long travel trailer, my house already feels like a mansion lol.

I live In a 200 sq ft loft apartment and the ceilings are high so it doesn’t really feel that small and at 1st I did it so love cheap and save money but after 2 years anything over 400 feels like wayy too much. I only want a little more room because I have an indoor cat I’d like her to be able to have more privacy, in our old apartment she had an entire bedroom the size of this apartment to herself but she honestly seems fine it’s mostly me worrying.
I’ll also mention I work 30 hrs over time most weeks from spring to fall so im not even here that much and I go out rather than have people over so it really depends on you’re life style

We don't actually get many tornados in the RGV, and hurricanes have been rarer than you'd expect, but the cost of wind insurance is ridiculous
I know someone who is very rich that owns multiple gas stations, etc, but he lives in a 2-room condo. I asked him why not buy a big house, he told me that big house is just a liability at the long run... Maintenance, tax, etc.... Where all you need is a comfy bed at the end of the day.
Fun fact: Small House is more Comfortable and Cozy than Big House.

Great for singles, young couples, and retirees, but I doubt most UK Councils would allow them as most plots come with a minimum house price allowed, plus land is expensive and hard to come by in suburban areas.

They typical 1950's 2-3 br Ranch was very affordable when new , as the economy grew and people made more money the houses kept getting bigger and bigger up to where they are now which are grossly oversized . All a bigger house accomplishes is filling it with even more useless crap that you don't really need .

WOW. I remember back in 1964 when my dad bought a huge lot with a house and a separate garage, and it cost only him $10,000 in Toronto Ontario Canada. Now, there are two houses on that property, and these each are multi-million dollar houses. Greed goes a long way these days.

I think it's important for the middle class to also live frugally. There's WAY too many people enticed to just spend, spend, spend... People literally live paycheck to paycheck, and "own" things they're indebted to. Focus on your ambitions. It may be your job, or it may be a hobby. But heavy consumerism won't make you happy.

To someone living in a vehichle, barely able to find peaceful parking and money to maintain the vehichle, musk would seem to be peak living situation. Think about it, a neat little futuristic mobile/permanent home on a site that you know and own or have protection on. No need to start the engine and drive off before neighbors and cops rain on you. Just that much less in bills even though the savings would be a drop in the ocean of your income. You dont have to worry about being spied on by anti homeless neighbors and cops.

Boxable make a terrific unit. Here in the UK after the 2nd World War we built "prefabs", little houses designed to replace bombed housing and as a temporary measure. Folk loved them and often fought attempts to rehouse them years after the houses had passed their supposed life. Sometimes small is beautiful!
That’s the future of housing! I’ve always wondered why we keep building the way we do instead of having mobile homes like this. This way we can take the house with us when we move and avoid much of maintenance associated with regular homes. Not to mention the mobility this gives the population. Sadly the banks won’t like this brilliant way of life^^
Pretty small for gatherings and families, probably weaker than the houses we live in now, most likely not connected to sewers so you probably have to clean all that poop out later. If those things don’t interest you then go ahead

Fuck banks you can save 50k. I’m single with just two dogs I think I’m gonna save for one of these instead of getting a mortgage for houses that are two expensive.
If I had the money I would buy one of those houses right now it looks useful. And you can move it around that’s crazy.
I want to live in a 50k home. But the Netherlands doesn't have cheap ground, if you want a piece to build something on you must at least reserve around 150k for a small piece of land.. And then the cost of the house (that must live up to some codes, like the height of the ceilings must be x etc..)

I live in 450 sq feet and guess what - it's more than enough space for a single person. Best part is it can go from disaster to sparkling clean in under 2 hours.
We had those in the Air Force for deployment...these are the same in design, just with much nicer insides.

Here's a tip learned accidentally when I started playing in rock bands as a teenager.
Females are INSTINCTIVELY attracted to a guy who has some measure, some degree, of social prominence.
I was a nerdy kid, picked up the guitar age 10, started playing in rock bands age 16. I never had to ask a gal out ever again - they came after me. "What is the deal?" I thought. "What in the heck is going on, I'm still the same person."
I figure it this way: humans have some instinctive behaviors, and some learned behaviors - just like all mammals do.
Humans have been walking upright for over 2 million years. Females go 'offline' for 9 months at a time when bearing children. "Which male is best for me?" they have been asking for 2 million years:
1) "Male type #1 - a group outsider. No social prominence in the group."
2) "Male type #2 - has some social prominence in the group. When push comes to shove, the group will help him - and thus me, too."
That's why being a live music performer - or a politician - or an actor - or even a minister/rabbi - leads to being more interesting to women.
HERE'S HOW IT WORKS.
1) Situation A - you have some social prominence. You are playing in a band, or you're acting in community theater, or you're a politician, or SOMETHING that puts you in front of people
2) Situation B - you have a 9-5 regular job, no social prominence, you're only around people when at work
There are TWO advantages to having some activity that provides some amount, even a small amount, of social prominence:
1) you are around more people, more often, than 95% of the other guys out there (the 95% of other guys who do not act, do not perform standup comedy, do not play in a band, are not a politician, do not act in plays, are not a DJ/rapper, etc.)
2) you tap in to something very few females even recognize - they feel safer if a guy has some social prominence. They do not realize it because it is 2-million-year-old instincts they have.
The majority of those 2 million years were WRETCHED HARD survival for hunter-gatherers - humans. If you had no social prominence in the group, FORGET IT, no female would see you as "fit" to be a mate.
VERY FEW FEMALES will admit these days that they have this instinct, but rationally, it MUST be there, or our species wouldn't have survived for over 2 million years.
If females had the bad habit of choosing 'outsider' males, more offspring would not have made it. We might have died off as a species.
GO GET SOME SOCIAL PROMINENCE.
There is no female out there who is going to tell you "if there was more competition for me to get your attentions, I'd be a LOT more interested in you".
I stumbled on this by accident, after I started live performing at age 16. The good times continued all through college, until my future wife said, "stop playing in bands, I'm sick of hte competition, or I might leave"
I was the nerdiest little nobody kid, not too many friends. My god it was a shock, the change, after I starting live performing.
