This is the best review of the Canon 7D Mk II ever. Very very detailed. I've had mine since earlier this year. I learnt a lot from this video. Thanks ZY
Best digital camera reviewer, hands down. I've watched a few of your videos now. I'm surprised you don't have a million subscribers. Glad to subscribe.
Great video. Bought it in 2020, used with 3,700 shutter actuations. Basically new and included the EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens, a Hoya UV filter, a Hoya polarizing filter, 1 SD card, 1 CF card, the battery grip and a total of 4 batteries. All that for $850 and I sold the lens for $150. My point is that if you are patient, you can find great deals on this camera, which by the way, it’s really awesome. I use it with my EF 300mm L prime lens attached to a 1.4 tele converter and it really is incredible! Thanks for taking the time to make and upload this video. I upgraded from an ancient 5D Classic and this is a whole new camera universe. Very helpful!
Moved from a 650D to a 70D after two years. And I was extremely happy with what I got. I just sold it to a friend who had some trouble with his old 550D, and I bought a 7DMkII. I'll have it in my hands tomorrow. I hope it's as good as you are saying !
Wow, this is the best review i've ever seen for this camera. Thank you su much! i didn't know about the bulb timer and it will be really helpful for me. You have a new subscription now :D
What a great, helpful, thorough review. I watched the whole video and found it very instructive. I have been shooting on a Rebel T1i since 2010, and I'm now considering a big leap up into 7D Mark II. I do a lot of shooting in theatrical settings that often have low light where flash is not an option. I have 2 EF-S lenses - the 17-55 and the 10-22. Is it worth the extra expense to purchase the body with the 18-135 lens? I was leaning toward purchasing the body only, since I've been very happy with the 17-55 and the 10-22. I know the 7D Mark II would take me into a whole different level of capability from what I've been using. Thanks for your feedback and suggestions.
Bradley Griffin Thanks for your support, glad you enjoyed the review. In my opinion I don't think it's worth it to get it with the 18-135 lens. The 18-135 isn't exactly the best performing lens, given that you already own a 17-55, which is a fantastic lens. I would definitely recommend sticking with the 17-55 as your primary standard zoom lens :)
Actually, you can disable the intervalometer by turning the camera off OR going back to MENU and DISABLE the intervalometer in between shots. That's pretty simple since the last menu item you'll have selected would have been enabling the intervalometer.
I've shot a T3i with battery grip for six years, but with a plastic/polymer body, it's relatively light-weight. Having just upgraded to the 7D Mark II with the Canon battery grip, it's significantly heavier due to a magnesium alloy construction. Make no mistake, this is a pro camera in appearance and performance, which Scott Kelby affirmed in his review.
Hi first off your review of the 7d mark 2 was very informative I am looking to upgrade from my 700d I shoot macro photography and stills I am also purchasing the mpe 65mm macro with the mt 24ex macro lite is this camera a good choice for macro as well as stills please get back to me with your input when you can would be greatly appreciated thanks again. Sincerely Pat.
Wow thanks for such an awesome review! Incredibly thorough yet to the point! I'm thinking of upgrading my Canon DSLR now, I've had the 1100D for a good 3 and a half years now and this review has really sold it to me! I mainly do still photography when travelling or for covering events, would you recommend this camera or is there something else on the market?
thank you very clear ,and concise info.I have the 6d,the only thing you didn't mention, was a stabiliser. I am able. to shot as slow as 1/20 ,with my kit lens,I was wondering if you can do the same, also what your preference when shooting wildlife,do you prefer a monopod,or a tripod, espesialy when using a long lenses, like the sigma 150_600....thanks in advance for your time.keep up the good work.
Stupidly I bought a Canon 6D last year wish I waited for this as the number of keepers with the 7DII is amazing! May have to bite the bullet and buy it!
I own one and I love it. I shoot lots of sport and landscapes. However, I have noticed from time to time that my RAW settings will somehow shift to JPG, and I have no idea what it was that I did or what button I pushed. Other than that the Canon 7D MK II is fantastic for what I do.
Great review. Subscribed! I have the 650D from a few years ago.. now looking for a better camera to shoot my sons soccer games... if I do get this.. I want to add 70-200mm f2.8 IS. Also can the 70D mk ii be used for events like weddings, night clubs... where obviously low light is present.
I am a new wild life photographer. I loved bird watching and now I want to capture the birds I love most in beautiful pictures. I live in a very sunny part of Texas. Would this camera be the right camera for me?
Just one quick question. Which camera is good for taking video ? I was very happy with Canon SX20is but its lived its life. I am looking for a replacement.
90d is the latest technology. Got digic 8 sensor while 7d markii has digic 6. Thats why is ISO performance in 90d is way more than 7d ii. Moreover 90d can shoot 4k, it has wifi built in, it has the latest technology and features. And because its new so definitely will have better value after some years too.
Hi ZY I'm thinking about upgrading to the 7Dm2 But what I need to no from you my friend : ) Is the low light much better ISO 4000 TO 6400 how does that look to you ? I shoot Landscapes at night and Dark Strip Clubs .
Nemesis King From my tests, they almost looked as clean as my 5D3. Just ever so slightly noisier compared to the 5D. I would say its useable up to 6400 no problem for events.
I'm looking at the 7Dmk2 against the A72... if I was wanting total perfection I'd probably want the 5Ds, but the this 7Dmk2 is a rocking bit of kit!! Thx for the vid!! :-)
it Doesn't Have Wi-fi because Canon said : " the Magnesium Alloy body will block the signals " .... and wait a second ..who Needs a wi fi in a wildlife camera ? :D
You can turn it on or off as you wish. Maintaining a level horizon has always been an issue for me. I bought my MK II in September of this year, and during the first week found the viewfinder level. I haven't turned it off since discovering it.
HY ZY,.. I JUST WONDER HOW TO EARN MONEY FROM DSRL BRO.??? PLEASE REPLY ME... I JUST SEE YOU ARE VERY RICH.. (I DONT KNOW YOUR RICHES COME FROM DSLR OR YOUR PARENT) ....?
+ZY Productions Great review. Thanks. I too am struggling between the 7DII and 5DIII as an upgrade from my T3i. Putting aside price and EFS lens compatibility, which would you recommend for a bobbyist who dabbles in shooting a little bit of everything? +Marcio Simoes - did you make a choice? Which did you get? Are you happy with it?
Why the hell would they add a different memory card???? Why not dual same SD cards. SD cards are now cheap and easy to find??? What is the benefit to have something almost obsolete?
Xenophene01 Compact flash is a quicker card format. SD is catching up though. You can choose between each card for Raw/Jpeg, or overflow etc. Very versatile system.
I have a CF card running at 160MB/S, compared to my SD card which is a Class 10 SDHC Ultra which is 30MB/S. Faster SD cards are available, but not as fast as CF. Shooting RAW files, it is much quicker to write with CF.

The camera will handle any macro shooting you can throw at it. Hope you have patience and experience shooting macro. The most difficult lens in Canons lineup is the MPE-65. An amazing lens, but not for the novice. Shooting at 5X, you're gonna want the most light you can get, without scaring off what you're trying to shoot. Also, focus stacking is the only way to go, the DOF is razor thin. Good luck!

Amazing review, even after 4 years it is still very relevant and one of the best reviews out there!

I just purchased myself one 😌

A very good review with relevant information. Thank you very much.
I own this one. Was happy to learn more about its many features and to hear it compared to other cameras on the market.

Great Video!! I pick up a 7D Mark ii and I am very happy with my purchase!
That's an awesome camera the Canon 7D mark II. Hope that I get my hands on that camera real soon. Really want that 7D Mark II so bad!!!
Great review man! Thaanks for this!! :D Gonna be grabbing a 7dii because of this review. Thanks!
Thank you so much. That was a fantastic review and you were enjoyable to learn from.

did you end up going with the 7D II?
thank you very clear ,and concise info.I have the 6d,the only thing you didn't mention, was a stabiliser. Great review, just ordered this camera a couple of hours ago.
how is your 7DMKII? you liked it?
So far, so good! Pretty pleased with the high ISO performance, and those 10 shots per second are real nice when shooting wildlife.
Stupidly I bought a Canon 6D last year wish I waited for this as the number of keepers with the 7DII is amazing! May have to bite the bullet and buy it!

At High iso works pretty well, not good as a 6d but not bad for a crop sensor
Great job! How did you light the background?
I am a new wild life photographer. I loved bird watching and now I want to capture the birds I love most in beautiful pictures. I live in a very sunny part of Texas. Would this camera be the right camera for me?
Elizabeth Espinal This would be the perfect camera for birding. It has a crop factor, stunning AF system, and really quick burst rate.
i like your work ! thanks for that !
Just one quick question. Which camera is good for taking video ? I was very happy with Canon SX20is but its lived its life. I am looking for a replacement.
700D
Simple question: 7dMk2 or 90D?
Upgrading from 60D. Need better Low light performance. opinions?
Kunal Phodse 90d is definitely way better than 7d markii

ZY Productions Thank you Sir so at this point if I get this bad boy I will make my 70D a back up due to Better iso past 3200 and good at 8000 iso ?
Depends on how much noise looks ok for what you do, and how much NR you plan to apply.
I'm looking at the 7Dmk2 against the A72... if I was wanting total perfection I'd probably want the 5Ds, but the this 7Dmk2 is a rocking bit of kit!!

it Doesn't Have Wi-fi because Canon said : " the Magnesium Alloy body will block the signals " .... and wait a second ..who Needs a wi fi in a wildlife camera ? :D
Hesham I do. Now I end up using a canon WiFi sd card to sync it with my iPad while doing Astro photography, so inconvenient.
thank you for sharing, i am going to get one next month!
Great video, thank you very much!!
can you disable the viewfinder level? also I didn't know you can adjust the burst rate. nice!
stoplossM4 Yes, you can turn it on and off.
You can turn it on or off as you wish.
Maintaining a level horizon has always been an issue for me. I bought my MK II in September of this year, and during the first week found the viewfinder level. I haven't turned it off since discovering it.
I have one and love it, I probably will not out grow it for a long time
What is the limit on the record time. Thanks for your videos. Very informative.
29mins 59secs.
so did you trade your 70D for 7D II ?
HY ZY,.. I JUST WONDER HOW TO EARN MONEY FROM DSRL BRO.??? PLEASE REPLY ME... I JUST SEE YOU ARE VERY RICH.. (I DONT KNOW YOUR RICHES COME FROM DSLR OR YOUR PARENT) ....?
Why is this being compared to the 5D? It's not even in the same line. Compared to the original 7D there are some physical differences.
great video! thank you :)
Hi,
looking for a new camera my 7d is now a brick.
which would you recommend out off 5d iii or 7d ii
cheers
Marcio Simoes Depends on what you shoot. If you shoot a lot of action go for the 7D2.
I shoot lost of landscapes and family pics, some minor sports / birds... the decision is freaking killing me
I suppose both would fair well. However judging by what you shoot more, I would probably say the 5D3.
Definitely the camera everyone wants but not everyone needs it..
Excellent
Superb
Why the hell would they add a different memory card???? Why not dual same SD cards. SD cards are now cheap and easy to find??? What is the benefit to have something almost obsolete?
Xenophene01 Compact flash is a quicker card format. SD is catching up though. You can choose between each card for Raw/Jpeg, or overflow etc. Very versatile system.
Peter H Ahhhhhh. I see. But is it really necessary for this model? Would there be much of a speed difference?
I have a CF card running at 160MB/S, compared to my SD card which is a Class 10 SDHC Ultra which is 30MB/S. Faster SD cards are available, but not as fast as CF. Shooting RAW files, it is much quicker to write with CF.
+Xenophene01 CF is MUCH faster. I wish it had dual CF which would maximize the usefulness of the 10 FPS
Nice song!! Name??
Hey can you tell me and how to bring down the F stop.. it is at f8 n not moving. Is it normal?
16:54 WTF is metadata preview mode ?
View vs the new 80D? Help please
I love my Canon EOS 80D ...
Thanks...
Sir it's full frame??????
No
CMOS no good
