    I got 71.9mpg from my 1.5d van yesterday. So I’m not for chaging yet

    This is a Proace City, the Proace is the larger van. They are a brilliant van, come with a 10yr warranty.
    The rang is 155 miles in summer but down to 120 in winter.
    If you carry any weight or do lots of fast road driving this will be less.
    However, I’ve done over 8000 miles in mine since March & I love it!
    They look really smart & made my car redundant.
    Both children love being in the front too.
    Just a note, SatNav is only available when connected to a phone. It’s just a shortcut to Apple CarPlay/ android auto.

    You don’t pay any road tax. So eventually the roads will fix themselves? And the batteries are made from green grass? Pathetic nonsense.

    How are EV's so expensive? Weren't we all told ev's would be cheaper than ice vehicles due to less complex parts etc, etc.

    • @ewadge
      @ewadge ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That will happen eventually but the batteries are still the most expensive component. As it is there are still not enough batteries being made to meet demand and with high demand come higher prices. But there are more and more battery factories coming online and the more you make of something the cheaper you can make it.

      @@ewadge Yup. Lithium (for batteries) mining is difficult and shady at best, but in reality it's dirty as hell; Violating human rights in third world countries, making miners and their families sick, etc.

      It's most definitely a rebadged Peugeot because Toyota wouldn't even dignify investing in EVs - which is winding up as a miscalculation on an economic crisis inducing scale

    As this company do 30,000 miles a year between five vans that works out as an average of 16.43 miles per van per day or 115 miles per van per week. This shows that range should not be an issue with EV vans.
    And why is this nonsense about people not being able to hear the van still being given oxygen by Vicki? You can hear EVs coming because of the road noise. Adults that can't cross a road safely do so when ICE cars are on the road. So why is it still made to be an EV issue? I drove ICE for twenty years before going EV and people were crossing the road in front of me like I wasn't there. It's a nonsense issue.
    Vicki says you can claw back the cost difference in fuel savings. Yes you can. But you also claw it back in maintenance costs, road tax, insurance and congestion charges among other things. The savings on fuel alone tend to be at least £100 a month (which is £8,400 over seven years way above the £5000 cost difference). Add the other savings and the payback is much quicker than seven years.

    I think all EVs should have a quarter-power horn button called the "polite cough" function 😀 A lower volumed "PUTT-PUTT" sort of signal you can use it to notify pedestrians of your presence in places like car parks, without scaring the heck out of them with your normal full powered horn.
    I know some EVs make artificial noises, but everyone knows what a car horn is and what it means. Different brands using different sounds can easily be ignored in real world outdoor scenarios.

    Why refer to it as a “car”? The English Language is rich because it has words that allow us to easily differentiate between things like a car and a VAN. And if he was really keen to go green, wouldn’t he be looking at a cargo bike not a car/van?

      @@vladx2 It's not a ridiculous question. People just look at exhaust pipe emissions but in the long term they are probably not going to be any better for the environment. There are too many other variables that most people right now are not taking into account, EVs are not going to save this planet well not that it needs saving anyway.

      @TB-up4xi ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The batteries are recycled or repurposed, they contain valuable materials, no-one is just throwing them away they don't end up in landfill. Tesla's recycle or repurpose rate is 100% - not 1 single Tesla battery ever made has been thrown away into landfill by Tesla.
      Even if you charged an EV from a 100% coal fired power it is still less polluting than the equivalent petrol or diesel car. A battery vehicle is more polluting to make but on average that difference is made up within the first 15,000 miles of driving.
      Will they save the planet on their own? no that's a ridiculous idea but in combination with a move to cleaner energy production they will provide vastly cleaner air for cities and help technology improve for industrial and commercial applications.
      The other thing people neglect to factor in when looking at tail pipe emissions is also the manufacture and transport element of fuel - you have to add 1/2 as much again to the tailpipe emissions when comparing BEV to ICE.

    • @joebloggs4191
      @joebloggs4191 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@TB-up4xi Err no it’s not because you have to count the emissions output when your brand new EV is produced, if you really want to be ‘green’ stick to the car you already have and fix it if needed. Too many people change to new cars unnecessarily causing huge amount of emissions in the process. Additionally EVs have a much shorter lifespan and hence more of them will need to be produced. They are easily written off in even a minor accident and not to mention when they go up in flames how difficult it is to put out the fire again with massive emissions output and then when to go to salvage they have to be kept 15m apart meaning you need a much larger yard meaning extra costs in the end it will lead to massive insurance price hikes for all. EVs are not the answer and they won’t save the planet which by the way does not need saving!
