This is the scene that made me realize Elvis was punk before punk existed. That’s why he is the king of rock and roll!

Yes, I understand that more now also. I kind of got it before, but I only got the music part, that he was introducing R&B to conservative white folks, but I also did not fully understand the PUNK REBEL that he was presenting. He wanted to be like James Dean, he so surmounted anything any of his heros did, he really was Captain Marvel wasn't he?

@@TheBWWaterfront he didn't only bring R&B to mainstream, he actually revolutionized it. The thing is he actually mixed Country, R&B, and Gospel together. So he didn't invent Rock and Roll, it existed before him, but he ended up revolutionizing the sound of it.

This is my absolute favorite scene of the entire movie. It really expresses Elvis in all of his glory. The power he had on stage, the command he had over an audience, and the effect he had on his fans plus how truly controversial he was and the way it was the spark that ignited a cultural revolution. It also used the song perfectly for Elvis being caught in the controversy, the way he didn't ask for it but wasn't going to back off, and in that moment he "picks" his fans, it really is perfect for a visual demonstration how the people wanting to start a "rumble" with Elvis had better not be alone because he has all of his fans who are not going to let you take him easily. So Baz did a perfect job with this scene, song, and the story of Elvis.

Just give him the Oscar already. I mean, how many music biopics we've seen? This is a towering performance and Mr. Butler should be rewarded for devoting two plus years of his life to nailing this performance. This is dedication, folks. Commitment to craft. The fact that he makes it all look so easy and unforced makes it all that more spectacular.

Reasons why Austin should get an Oscar:
-He captured Elvis essence, watching the movie felt like watching actual Elvis, not an imitator
-He had no singing experience yet he managed to deliver with those vocals on the movie and nailed that young Elvis sound
-He went through an insane vocal training to sound just like Elvis and he did it so well
-He read every Elvis book and studied every Elvis videos and interviews he could to give an authentic interpretation, now THAT'S DEDICATION
-He managed to nail those iconic Elvis moves even tho he had no prior dancing experience
-He learned Elvis' mannearisms for the movie
-He gave the performance of his life, if the Academy doesn't give him an award then there is something wrong

    • @topfangirl14
      @topfangirl14 2 ปีที่แล้ว +121

Alsoo, ofc Elvis is the one and only and Austin is obviously not Elvis, Elvis is a legend and no one could ever be like him but I think we can all agree that no other actor has made a better interpretation of him than Austin! At the end of the day, he is just an actor who gave his best and did so well, so he should def get awarded for that!

This scene is spectacular, but there is one scene from the movie that really centered the whole movie, that gave it it's full weight. When Col. Parker is selling his act to the Vegas men. It completely unraveled the mystery of Elvis's downfall. Perfectly. It traumatized me as much as a real life event. Thank you for sharing such an amazing performance Austin, and Elvis for changing the world!!

      Beautifully said!
They couldn’t handle how much talent he had. The way he sings and moves is so beautiful that this world… we don’t know how to handle it. For the more religious among us, we might think we can’t enjoy that kind of beauty because we call it ‘temptation’. But that’s not it.
Elvis moved like how he did when he was slain in the Spirit at church. Austin is a Christian too but he also got to have that gospel tent type of experience when he went to church with Baz in Nashville to get in touch with Elvis’ spirit. That drove a lot of the emotional core of his portrayal. I’ve heard him say “if I wasn’t feeling that feeling I had at that church, I knew I was off”. And that kept him going for 18 months?! Absolutely incredible.

Austin Butler... wow... he did such a great job in this movie. He sounded like him, danced like him, sang like him, and looked like him.

I've watched the movie several times and I love this scene! After the movie, Elvis can't get out of my head!! Now I'm a fan of two Elvises, the real one and the one in the movie! I'm on the internet asking that a program here in Brazil can interview Austin! Here in my country there are thousands of Elvis fans! #austinbnews

same for me, after watching the new Elvis movie, I've watched most of the real Elvis movies and seen or listen to his songs, it's a mystery, I never understood why people love Elvis so much, now I love him, so much.

If the actor played Elvis as well as you say, then Elvis wasn't special so others could play like him, and Elvis' original voice wasn't even used. The actor sings the songs. I thought Elvis had the most beautiful voice in the world...
      Incredibly ridiculous...sorry
