About Elvis:
Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis” explores the life and music of Elvis Presley (Austin Butler), seen through the prism of his complicated relationship with his enigmatic manager, Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks). The story delves into the complex dynamic between Presley and Parker spanning over 20 years, from Presley’s rise to fame to his unprecedented stardom, against the backdrop of the evolving cultural landscape and loss of innocence in America. Central to that journey is one of the most significant and influential people in Elvis’s life, Priscilla Presley (Olivia DeJonge).

One of the best scenes in the entire movie! Austin Butler was born to play Elvis.
Born to play absolutely but he's also in my opinion Elvis Presley's true successor
@@ericsantana1184 I too believe he is

Are you on drugs?

Austin's voice is very limited, mediocre to poor.

I should be asking what's wrong with you.
What I said is factually correct.
Of all his songs, this is the most honest song that Elvis has ever sung, in my opinion. At the cinema, I was moved. 👏👏👏

American Trilogy
My Way
Unchained Melody

"his"
His Gospel songs were his most powerful and honest. Elvis Gospel was the top of the list.
they are NOT! "his' songs.
they are songs he sang that others wrote.
to think otherwise is an insult to the people that wrote songs for this puppet.
I believe that this was an absolutely beautiful song not only did Elvis do it to honor Martin Luther King but I'm pretty sure he's honored so many future Generations who should appreciate all the sacrifices that we have made. We need this song to be played now with all that's going on because we're forgetting what so many people have done how much sacrifice they made to ensure that we live
You’re so right brother I was literally saying the same thing after I saw the movie
Elvis Presley did not get sued only Tom Parker did

Elvis 2022 is a spectacular film. The sets, the wardrobes, the acting, the directing....Worthy of Oscars and worthy of repeated viewing.

Biggest shame that Elvis didn’t have a better manager. He could’ve really helped him soar far & away from the drugs.
It’s like he channeled Elvis’s spirit. This man nailed this role and gave it his all just like Elvis did. This movie is one for the books, congratulations Austin Butler! We love you Elvis; the world could use your bright light these days. Rest easy king 👑
he didnt "Channel" anyones spirit. he practiced for like 2 years, and did what actors do.

@@CenteredPaladin they said it’s “like” he did. You missed the point of the comment 🙄
Elvis' spirit is in each of his 30 movies and 800 songs. His great personality shines through the memories of those who really knew and loved him.
This song is 54 years old and still gorgeous.
Greatness is timeless.
I hope the youth like 2000s kids know how iconic this man was and start listening to his songs. I can see them blasting Elvis songs on TikTok
I've made sure my niece and nephews have heard Elvis. With my older nephews, it was the gospel songs and "Wooden Heart", my younger nephews heard "Blue Suede Shoes" and "Crying In The Chapel." My niece would rather listen to Taylor Swift most days, but I hope she'll have a proper listen to Elvis in the future.
That transition at 3:03 from the paper to practicing the song is smooth and flawless. Movie is full of impeccable transitions and attention to detail. 10/10
That’s what I love about Baz Luhrmann’s movies. Especially in Great Gatsby. PHENOMENAL DIRECTOR!
@Bryant Benson probably 20 years now
Yep, Baz Luhrmann's shots are iconic and unique 🙌
Baz Luhrmann's movies are always a visual feast. I feel like there aren't enough directors like him working in Hollywood these days, those with a kind of singular vision and distinctive style. Obviously there are some like Denis Villeneuve and Paul Thomas Anderson, but most such directors are those remaining from Hollywood's artistic peak in the 70s, like Scorsese.
(Obviously outside of Hollywood it's a different story, and Hollywood certainly ain't the be-all and end-all of cinema)
In real life, this performance was even more powerful than we all know: that's the great Wrecking Crew backing up Elvis on the rhythm track with Hal Blaine on drums. They had to cut and replay the take a couple of times because Elvis was delivering such a powerful performance some of the musicians were breaking down crying as he was singing. These were some of the world's best professional, highly skilled, highly trained musicians so deeply moved by him that they had to restart a few times!
I hear there’s going to be a documentary about it featuring Steve Binder. Coming out in 2023. Looking forward to it!
@@evitagiron there is a 30 minute interview about this 68 Comeback Special on TH-cam where Steve Binder discusses what happened at this show. It's called: Gates of Graceland: secrets of the '68 Special.
@@evitagiron I worked with Steve Binder in the late ‘80’s and had totally forgotten that he was the creative force behind this special. He is/was a truly nice guy. Blew me away, after I saw “Elvis” to learn he was the one who told Elvis his career was “in the toilet.”
Bless all those wonderful musicians RIP 🙏

Such a powerful moment. All through the film I felt terrible for Elvis. Prevented from following his passion and instinct at every turn.
And robbed of his fortune
Right I had no idea the pain and struggles he went through his whole life. He was robbed of being the greatest artist of all time but I'm glad the world gets to see him again even so long later. That he truly was ahead of any and everyone he was just held back from the true potential

You cut out the best part when Col. Parker comes in all proud boasting about the Christmas set, and then they cut to the second stage where Elvis actually is! That reveal makes the scene so triumphant and powerful, Elvis finally getting the upper hand in his continual war with Parker, and delivering not only one of his best performances in his entire career, but an extremely resonant message to a nation “troubled with pain.” No matter… Still a great clip, thank you for sharing it.

I love this film. Austin did justice for the king of rock n roll.
After Elvis Presley died on August 16, 1977, the African American newspaper, the Chicago Defender explained that: “When Elvis Presley breathed his last breath and the press hailed him as the ‘King of Rock,’ Ol’ Man River cried out, ‘Naw he ain’t! My friend Chuck Berry is the King of Rock. Presley was merely a Prince who profited from the royal talent of a sovereign ruler vested with tremendous creativity. My favorite scene. Austin Butler was incredible!
This movie was so beautiful. I enjoyed it so much. He captured Elvis in every way. Another highly talented young man. Just amazing.
..Elvis was asked many times by the press and others how he felt about the division that was happening to our country in the late 60s, the civil unrest, the protests against the Vietnam war, then Dr King was assassinated just a few miles from Graceland, Elvis' home in Memphis, the assassination of Bobby Kennedy, but he didn't want to make a political statement or express his personal views yet his heart was aching and he wanted to say something and how else would he do it but as he always did, through his music. This is the scene in the movie that made me sit on the edge of my seat, a tear came to my eyes. It is mine and many fans all time favorite performance and song of his!
The scene that really affected me was when Elvis lost his beloved Mama. It made me wonder if Austin was really acting, since his own mother died when he was 23, the same age Elvis was when he said his "hope was gone."

How this man didn't win the best actor Oscar is a mockery of the whole academy awards.
My dad is a huge fan of Elvis so growing up I listened to all his music, watched all the concert videos, watched the movies, and listened to interviews. I knew the backstory and how tragic his last years were, but the way this movie framed it just finally broke me.
I don’t remember the exact line but in the movie Elvis said something along the lines of his life not meaning anything and he feared being forgotten. Like man, if he only knew.
If he really thought that, that breaks my heart. It seemed like he had so much more to give, but he never got that chance.
Yes, Elvis did say "he wonders if he will ever be remembered...." Linda Thompson said he said so and Priscilla too. If only he knew how much he is honoured and loved.
The best adaptation of Elvis life - I just love it and in awe of Austin, acting is superb, the voice gives me goosebumps- he just nailed it.
