- If you hear any distortion or clipping it's probably my fault, I had the level turned all the way up. Still not a good sign though! Sounded great through the device itself, but when exported to WAV made my speakers distort, and couldn't fix it in Audacity.

In the mid 80’s I bought a Tascam 4 track which recorded on to cassette and it cost me $850. I used mine quite a bit over two years until it was stolen. You got 100x more machine for a quarter of the cost. Enjoy your new toy!
Even better than a quarter of the cost--that $850 is roughly $2500 today! I have been fascinated with the Portastudio tradition since learning that Bruce Springsteen recorded his best record ever, Nebraska, with a Teac 144 and two SM58s. The march of technology and the drop in prices means I finally can afford a happy childhood. The digital Portastudio series is a glorious array of machines. Even the 32-track version costs at most 2 to 3 times what this one does.
I've gone through a couple of zoom multitrack the last 15 years, I'm getting this to give it a shot. Amazing to see what they can pack nowadays into a little unit.
The sound that it makes is sick very hifi sounding

The 008 runs on 5VDC(2A) with positive center pole (+). Third party power supplies work just fine if you keep polarity in mind.
I am confused. You showed when you recorded the song but not what it sounded like after you recorded?
I didn't mix it down or master it but I did pull the audio from the TASCAM. I've learned a lot since I made this video
Like your comments on electronic music. Great when it is done well but that rarely happens, usually it is way too complicated as you say.
Knew it was brand new cause of the cause of the batteries i got the same ones with mine but the dont last long i just got an a.c adapter yesterday makes a big difference..but yeah the built in mics are amazing.. im really happy with this machine never used one before and figured it out in a few hours so easy to use
I like how there is a back light on this one the DP-006 that I have doesn't have that so I have to have a light shine it so I can see if I want to work at night. The auto punch feature is nice.
You are not limited to only 8 tracks in the final mix because you can bounce tracks with this unit.

@@patriciofernandez2711 it's basically combining multiple tracks into one, basically overdubbing. So hypothetically, you have an infinite number of tracks overdubbing the original track.

Reverb adds liveness to things sounding flat and can also soften things sounding too harsh. It can give a sense of wider spaces. It has a lot more uses to than to cover up badness, and I think its pretty necessary, even if its just a little.
3:00 check the polarity of your DC adaptor plug. If it's universal it should be reversible.
Why didn't you show us how to set it up to use the built in Mics???????

im having problems with the headphone port not hearing what i record
there are 3 playback volume controls: track level knobs, master level knob and (on the back) headphone jack volume wheel. also, when you recorded did you adjust the trim knobs to see good levels in the vu meter, and did you assign the correct input sources using assign and input setting procedure.

Cannot get to a conclusion because the sound is at an extremely low level.
I've learned how to mixdown and master since the video was made. Its a huge learning curve but it's possible to get great recordings out of this unit

can the onboard mics handle bass?
yes! and you can boost the bass in EQ settings. definitely worth reading the manual for this one

If I use phantom power to the cd burner then press the record button will it record a cd ???
Depends if your CD burner can run off phantom power and connect to XLR 🤔 why not just use a normal PC to rip the CD?
On again off again with SD card busy please power down errors. I don't know I've tried different cards too... After a bit it don't matter
