When I was rejected one time I had an insight in that why would I want to be around someone who did not want to be around me? So, the rejection seen in that light is a schedule clearing device as I put behind me someone who wanted to be elsewhere and focus on those who want to be around me. Another point is years ago I was listening to a self help psychologist say that rejection is only a preference such as when you pick apples over oranges at the store. The oranges are just fine. You just picked the apples that day and it is only a preference. Someone picks someone over you that is only a preference. You are just fine. Makes sense.

To this day I have been rejected by 5 girls. First girl stings like bees. Afterward, you're numb to rejection and able to graceful thank them for their reply not many were polite and some did not even see you exist. I seem to do the best with rejection when I ask a girl out without seeing it coming. I am always the most confident during that too but rejection still happens. But she very politely turned me down by saying “hm well my work schedule is crazy so… I don’t know” all while maintaining eye contact and smiling with me. I smiled and looked her in the eye and said “okay… we’ll the door is still open for you” she giggled and said “okay hehe” I stayed and said a few more things to ease the tension (if there was any with her) and it was a rejection that went pretty okay. I wasn’t that hurt and we both were not awkward after. That’s how it should be!

Just move on. Don't even respond. It's all about not wasting time. Thinking of her and why she rejected you is wasting time. Asking her why not and listening is wasting your time. If they are cruel it gives them the chance to turn the knife even more. Time can be much better spent going after the next one. Ideally if they can see you going after the next one, that is especially sweet. And always have as many irons in the fire as possible don't put all your eggs in one basket. Actually being rejected is good for your self awareness ! 'You are too crazy and childish !'. After so many years being haunted by the girl's words. I am not just come to term with it, but also solve that problem with books and audios. She was so right ! ' Being with you is like being with a mute, you are so boring!'. Afterwards, I spent times improving in myself by doing some stories writing, learning new languages, reading more facts and stuffs. Now, I can create a fake humorous persona beside my mute one and I am able to turn even the most well-mannered, elegant girl in the room to switch from a gum-showing giggling into a full horse-laugh. ' You are so skinny, you looks like a malnutritious caterpillar!'. After that, I spend time exercising, joining some local sport clubs. Now I am still skinny, but more toned with upright postures and a boosted confidence. Girls no longer comment on my frame anymore. Everytime, rejection gives me tips on how to improve myself. Just simply take it possitively and constantly improve yourself physically, emotionally and spiritually and eventually YOU will be the one holding the power to REJECT. lol

Would you be happy if she kept you around despite being less than eager to do so? That would've hurt you more in the long run than what you're feeling now. Always try to find someone with same level of interest as you have for them. It's not impossible. And if it is, it doesn't hurt your present life in anyway, does it?
Just remember, a relationship is not just about the beginning stages of attraction. It takes effort. So, having similar level of mutual interest from the beginning is very important.

I know someone we say hello all the time, she likes when I touch her and she even tries to make contact with me which is surprising because she usually keeps to herself. She eyeballs me all over the place. Last week I asked her if she's like to go out sometime and she said she would let me know. I'm not sure why it wasn't yes but women are crazy. So I can wait until she "lets me know" and if she never does be done with her. It kind of makes it easy for me. It's kind of a joke asking women out even after we get a comfort level with each other and she's still not sure. That's why I never do it.
By the way I think the person I'm referring to, if she doesn't want to spend time with me, enjoys the validation. Me saying hi and being super nice and flirting with her. She loves the game as long as there's no strings attached.

This was how I handled it:
I replied, "Ok, no worries"
She replied, "I'm Sorry."
I replied, "It's ok, let me know if you change your mind."
I left it there.

Since no one took the time to respond to your comment within 7 months, I will... and yes, I think you handled that perfectly. Rather than the cliche "it's not you, it's me" sort of thing, sometimes it really is just that as something unfavorable might be going on with her life. However, she could've exchanged numbers with you anyway and say that now is not the time to escalate towards anything but once things settle down..., etc..

Just be happy for the other person. At least she had found the right one, and it’s ok to think about maybe in the future, you could possibly have a chance. But if not be great full that you ever got to meet her, but continue to work on yourself and if she is not the one move on or just don’t the look the right one will come along, and it’s ok to try. Be respectful but at the same time it’s ok to be angry but try to use the anger to motivate yourself, and find a hobby or passion or something your good at 10% of the time it works 90% it does work, and it could be 50/50 that it works and you find the right one or Vice-versa and or you could find someone like in a group like an example a Dance class, or at a church, maybe even someone just finds you that awesome and it works out.
