Fantastic video! I have to replace the speedo cable on my 2006 LX 150... hope the fitting on the back of the speedo unit is not broken... you made fixing it look easy. Thanks

Thank you Robot, I’m very new to all of this, I didn’t have the proper tool to remove the front wheel, I was unable to get the glove box opened so I did what I could do which was to remove the old cable at the wheel and snake the cable up through the fender, up and up until I reach the speedometer itself, it works, now watching your video and listening to you was my guide on this, not a better way, it was the only way available for me under these circumstances.

I've had to do this twice on my S 150, which is of course very similar but slightly more intricate, and these instructions are as usual FAR better than anything else that has been done online. To avoid any mistakes when running the new cable, I have found it easiest to tape the old one to a length of 12-gauge wire, pull it out (thus replacing the old cable with the wire), then use the wire to pull the new cable through. It is a tight squeeze through the fender, almost impossible-looking at first, but a few squirts of silicone spray help get it through. The fittings are too large to allow you to just tape the new cable to the old one. For as fragile as these cables are, it's odd how little lubrication there is on the length of the cable. I wish I'd added some as you did here.

Thanks, got the parts from you months ago, finally got around to doing the work. ET2-50, cable had locked up, which killed the plastic driven gear. I'd ordered both, and it did the trick. Thanks for the great vid. Oh, and I used sokme Aerospace 303 Protectant to lube the cable and rubber and plastic bits for routing. Side benefit, it's good for the plastics.

Super usefull, after a dorment winter i decided to take out my LX and found that my speed was a constant zero. The worm gear was chewed up also the tip of the accelerator cable broken because of bad grease, it was solid. I also found the problem to why nu glove box does not open, the latch was bent. I don' t know If the latch will handle my effort to bend IT back though

Hey Robot, thanks for all the videos. My speedo just stopped working, pulled the gear per your video and its mashed up. I had a shop replace it just 2 years/250miles ago, the grease is really sticky and gummed up. Do you have a how-to on re-greasing the whole hub? 2003 ET4 150. Thanks again!

Do you know if most newer scooters are electronical speedometers vs mechanical? I have a Kymco like 150 2019 and mine stopped working yesterday and ABS light came on as well. My next scooter will be a Vespa I’m hoping. We have a dealership here in town. Thanks for all your videos. I’ve watched quite a few, even though I don’t own a Vespa.

Great video! Thanks very much for the help. I am in Australia, do you guys post to here? I need to buy a speedometer cable for my 2006 LX 125 Vespa so thought I would get it from you guys. Also I replaced my front brake pads and brake fluid for the first time. Was tough but got through it.. but in the process I managed to thread the nut on the bleeder nipple of my caliper pretty badly. It's the original caliper, just wondering if you sell the individual nipple/nut for it. Anyway thanks again for your videos, super helpful!

The newer models use an electronically controlled speedometer (not a cable). Is this the part you're looking for? www.scooterwest.com/complete-abs-speed-sensor-front-or-rear-gts-sprint-primavera-946.html

I have a vespa px 125, my speedometer cable and gear broke at 20k km, i replaced both the cable and the plastic gear. 10 km after the replacement, the main gear on the hub basically "ate" the plastic gear. I replaced it again, and it broke again... I don't understand why it continuous happening, it's kinda frustrating..

Changed mine on GTS, turns out that new cable head is too big to pass through the small hole on the fork.
I guess that is why the old design can be dissemble, I end up remove front wheel and loose front shock just to replace that cable.

Why is the speedometer on the Primavera 150 so inaccurate? I didn't realize that it's probably been that way since I bought it new in 2021. I'm never sure how fast I'm going.

How is the thing called at 22:50? i thought to replace my cable however i figured the previous owner destroyed this thing you´re talking about, can´t seem to find it anywhere. If anyone knows please let me know

The rubber grommet, or the knurled nut that screws the cable to the speedo? There is a chance it slid down the cable into the frame.
