This breathing technique is as simple as it is profound. Out of all the pranayama and yogic practices ive done over the years this is the most magnificent for me. Because of its simplicity ❤
As a long time practitioner of Hof's method, it is life changing. However, if you have deep seated emotional trauma, the breath will bring you into being with the trauma in the moment. Just remember, our parents (or whoever hurt you) are just like us, doing the best they can with what they have and karma is difficult to deal with. The thing is though.... you are special and you can do it, keep going ! ! !
Both tummo and whm are about controlling immune system and autonomic nervous system. Heart rate . Thermogenesis (body temperature) neurogenesis ( making new neuron in the brain
Tummo is not just that tummo is related to develop clearance of the mind and then you do other meditation techniques to achieve buddhahood and Tummo just small practice of Tsalung Yoga it is also not from the Bon religion it's came from Nyingmapa's Anuyoga and later Bon also strted merge with Buddhism and they strated to pratice Maha-yoga, Anu-yoga and Ati-Yoga.
Thank you Whimsical Wim!! Disabled client with COVID, co-worker with COVID. At work 432 hours in 24 days virtually stress free with Wim Hof Method!! High on my own supply… :)
This breathing technique is not only breathing but also a pure form of meditation as you are supposed to observe your breath in and out, it’s so blissful by end of three minutes breath holding session Love you Whim.
Dear Wim, just wanted to say "Thank you, biggest hugs from Berlin" for beeing there for us in times of trouble. Ice-rock giving us opportunity to breathe when it seems like it was never so important like these days. 🌷⚘💐 Thank you, Dankeschön!!!!
Dear Wim, I have done your breathing exercises and cold therapy daily for almost 2 years. I have 2 questions: 1.) after the out breath, once you feel the urge to breathe, why do you suggest only holding the in breath for 15 seconds? I like holding it until I feel the urge to breath which is often for 1 minute or longer. Why only 15 seconds? 2.) in your guided breathing TH-cam video you mention “slow your heart rate down” - would you please expand on this? Thank you so much ✨ Christi
I also really enjoy holding the in breath, finding things get really good in there on that part - it’s the time when I feel I have the strongest connection. I hope someone answers this for you.
Yeah, do what feels good for you. I notice I want to hold it longer than 15 seconds as well. There’s no rhyme or reason for his 15 second hold. It’s just an arbitrary number that he decided one day.
If I had to guess, I would say that it's only 15 seconds so that you maintain the hyper oxygenated blood. The longer you hold, the less oxygen (and more carbon dioxide) will be in your blood. However, I agree with you; I like to do a breath hold on the inhale retention as well. I don't think it matters too much, just do what you feel is right!
I would say he stays at 15 seconds for safety. Some people get tinnitus at that part either way, and it can happen if you hold it too hard or too long. Most people are not experienced and its just a safe way to introduce this to everyone, since some are holding it and pushing it harder to the head than others.
Im just gonna point out that he didn't really explain similarities and differences between techniques. He just said that eastern stuff is esoterical mumbo jumbo and needs time to be useful while western people need something western.
Exactly. It takes maturity to acknowledge and pay respect to ancient methods from which you obviously drew your method from. Apparently, among many benefits, integrity is not one of the benefits that come with the Wim Hof method.
I say both. The longer you practice over time the more you understand the intricacies of your mind. The more rounds you can do, the deeper you dive into your mind. That's just my own opinion from my 3 years practicing the whm, from a place of severe trauma
With all respect for Wim (I am practicing the method for half a year now, daily), he told NOTHING specific about the differences or similarities. He does a great service for humankind, his method is transformational and gives me a never thought of amount of power. But he is an awful speaker… Still, keep on serving your mission Wim!
He probably knows about four languages or more it's not his first language English I think he does great I love his accent and I speak hillbilly 😂 you probably can't understand me either but blessings to you anyway happy breathing ♥️🙏
I totally agree, that he’s not really explaining the differences. As a speaker, good in terms of being enthusiastic and authentic. But concise information and explanation is “not so strong”. All the love for Wim and WHM.
I think he says clearly that they are not the same thing. He doesn’t claim to know the Tibetan tummo, and that’s a good enough answer for me. If you want to learn about tummo you need to ask a Tibetan master.
@@fionacrowe9216 Well, at least the title "differences and similarities" is a little bit misleading. And as he has profound knowledge and a strong yoga background. But there , there are a lot of vides explaining tummo in detail, yes. E.g. by the former WHM instructor Tim van der Vliet (one of many)
Well said, I thought of his Yogic background and a more or less serious comparison, but nothing here. And I think a lot of people practicing WHM breathing do also Yogic practice and are interested in differences and similarities. I never said he does not speak good English. I meant he seems to me as a lay speaker on his own topics. There are a lot of people who can explain his method better than Wim. BUT, I think Wims mission is to electrify and spread enthusiasm. Peace and a happy day!
You cured my migraine.. I tried your breathing technique and since then i dont use any medication for my headaches...if i feel like am having a headache i just do the breathing technique along with bhastrika pranayam and its gone...🙏
Mr. Hof in Sikhism, early spiritual teachers were being tortured by Islamic Moguls who were forcing them to change religion, they were put into boiling vats of water. They survived and they were laughing the whole time. You've unlocked some ancient secrets and are teaching the world. Bravo 👏
The method he promotes is neither his nor tummo the breath of fire. It is simply a hyperventilation technique used by free divers and breath-hold competitors to over-oxygenate the blood to last longer under water etc. Some competitions don't allow hyperventilation techniques and some do. It's nothing new, but overall it has some benefits and Wim is good at promoting it and he's got the records to back it up.
Doing WHM since a couple of months now, it's such a good start in the morning especially the cold😬. Thanks for your passion Wim, you are such a blessing for this planet. A question , 1 week a go I thought I do some more rounds. So I did 12 rounds, my retention high was like 3:40min ( is was stunned) At some point, there was this tone in my head, not a Tinnitus but like a constant high tone, in like in some of them solfeggio healing frequencys. Can you explain or comment on that tone?
I love your energy and happy personality 🥰 watched the last episode on TV you are such an inspiration!! I love your method and will always keep it going in my life .. you're amazing AMAZING!! ❤️
technically speaking, in most cases inflammation is a good thing. _(Inflammation is a natural defense mechanism that helps your body heal from injury or infection)_ However, sometimes inflammation can become chronic, which means that it lasts for a long time. Chronic inflammation can be caused by a number of things, including infection, autoimmune diseases, and obesity. It can also be a risk factor for a number of chronic diseases, including heart disease, stroke, cancer, and arthritis. Not that it affects anything, but I think it'd be more precise for WH to elaborate that he means bringing down inflammation in cases of chronic inflammation. At least I hope that's what he does, it's an assumption that he does.
I love u wimhof , thank u for everything u do and for all the incredibile sharing of Ur knowledge , u saved so many Life and make It Better !!! Including mine !! Thank u again really a precious man ❤️🙏
A daily WHM routine for a few years has changed my life, literally. I'm like a whole different person now. I fell off the wagon a few months and feel myself getting back into negative thought patterns but I am going back to discipline myself again on a daily basis. Anyone who suffers from an overly negative attitude, depression, anxiety and similar issues should really start a daily WHM routine!
@@joek292 I recommend to start with the guided breathing session on his channel. It helps you keep count and you don't have to mess with timers and stuff. After a while, you get a feel for how it's supposed to go down and can do it on your own. Follow it up with a slightly cool shower and gradually build your way up each day to colder and colder temperatures. It really makes a huge difference to combine the cold exposure but don't overdo it. If you start shivering, back the Temps back up to warmer and really focus on accepting the cold into your body. Shivering is an automatic response but can be overcome with time gradually with more and more daily exposure.
Haha. Tummo can be done anywhere too. It’s also scientifically proven. Haha. I understand you don’t wanna lose customers to 2000 years old Tibetan traditions Wim. ❤
Yeah, but Wim's teachings are simple and so accessible to westerners. In a couple days, Wim's teachings have gotten me so much closer to Tummo than over 20 years of formal Buddhist practices and vows had ever gotten me. And without all the brouhaha and elaborate exotic visualizations. Wim, the crazy Viking is to the point, simplified, but far from simplistic. I'm so happy to have found his work. It's very healing to this recovering Buddhist.
Watching a few youtubes in my time, I have started paying attention to the views vs likes ratio. This video was very peculiar as it had 1 view, yet 36 likes. first thoughts, was "would Wim really buy likes?". I refreshed the video to find the views jumped to 1 227 and likes to 177. a 1% ratio generally indicates an okay video, 10% good video, and 20% a great following base. ~ Fun Fact #239
I mean i can get in the water its just easier if you forced me over a recording........ plus i think more ppl would follow through instead of just doing the breathing.
I hit a new personal record for push ups today! 45! It’s taken me a couple months to get that many, but doing the breathing before gets me mentally ready for it. Because otherwise I get bored and tired around 30.

Hello Wim! Is there any breathing method to effectively cool down body temperature during very hot and humid summer months? No access to cool water, no air conditioner here..
@@marabunta1980 yes, this is the only breathing method i have found so far.. It helps a little but not enough when the weather is very heavy and hot.. Thanks for your reply.

One is a giraffe and one is a zebra. So beautiful. It’s not about the thinking or conceptualizing. Fully in and let it go. Just be in this moment. What am I supposed to focus my attention and energy on? Nothing. It’s all there.
I do both every morning. I have noticed though that if I add the visualization from tummo to the Wim Hof method I get much hotter much faster than with tummo or Wim Hof alone. I think one of the potential use cases for tummo is to be able to increase our core tempature, maybe decrease too?, simply using visualization. I think of it as a tool in the tool box and the tool box is helping me gain more concious influence over my autonomic system from various directions
Nothing to do with tummo what he does(im not saying it doesnt have its benefits). I dont know why peiple call what he does tummo but im glad he clarifies it
I keep trying wim hof method, I'm not getting extremely hot and doing superhuman things.... is there an actual practical step by step tutorial on how to do the method. I read his book and watch videos but not seeing the superhuman benefits. 30-40 breaths, then long inhale as long as I can and take breath, that's 1 cycle and it's recommended you do atleast 3 cycles. Is there something I'm not getting? Is there a certain speed to the breaths? No one seems to show it, even wim hof himself. In his book he was able to show the method to some people in just a few days and they were infected with bacteria and fought off the infection unscathed. Just a few hours but yet he has a certification class you have to travel to the swiss alps to take. So is it just what he said in his book about the 40 breaths or is there way more to it that he's not really divulging to the public unless you're trained by him specifically????
Have currently done 867 WHM breathing sessions a total of 2.5k rounds and breath hold for 87h 44 minutes over past 14 months. It is truly transformational. My quality of life is off the charts, I couldn't imagine my life without practising this daily. Forever greatful Thanks
Love you energy, Wim... but you explained zero about the differences... zebra and giraffe... Tummo is a deep and advanced technique as far as I know. I'm doing a course on it now, and it ironically says exactly the opposite... that it takes only a relatively SHORT time to learn - not 20 YEARS as you're saying here. Tummo was created to be a quicker way to experience our true nature (is what I've understood).
once you master wim method. the next natural step is tummo yoga, studying the scriptures, practicing "real"meditation, understanding(exploring) the phenomenon of you mind and dissolving your impurity's. and the most important part. helping other with you achieved power and wisdom. the highest pleasure is caring and giving .. not self absorption and domination.. but! we can not care and support when our energy is distracted, low or full power insanity.. balance is a very important aspect in tummo. and you will not do higher forms of practice without achieving balance.
Ever since I first heard bout Wim Hof, I've had a fascination with Wim's self professed abilities & benefits of his practices which are taken from G Tummo breathing [even bought his book Becoming The Ice Man]. However, my gut feeling had me thinking that something about him seemed wrong, angry & very curmudgeon like. Then I listened to the Behind The Bastards podcast about Wim Hof; very interesting and provides another view of this grifter/kook. The public park fountain enema story is just plain weird and speaks volumes. Ill be using his book for fireplace starter.

I’m fighting Covid right now and lucky for me I’ve been doing Wimhof method for over five months. Thank you sir!! You have saved my life again❤️🙏🏻
How long did you have it while using wim hof method to fight it?
@@alexthebeastxx
Only a week or so.
Thank you
Tummo is not just that tummo is related to develop clearance of the mind and then you do other meditation techniques to achieve buddhahood and Tummo just small practice of Tsalung Yoga it is also not from the Bon religion it's came from Nyingmapa's Anuyoga and later Bon also strted merge with Buddhism and they strated to pratice Maha-yoga, Anu-yoga and Ati-Yoga.

Whim is a big scam. He is just misusing TUMO for personal glory.
You changed my life 10 yrs ago. You are my life! Thank you so much dad!
Thank you Mr W H. Always appreciate your moments here in the tubes. . . . Thank You.
Meditation is not purely observing the breath.
That's just what you do when you need Something to focus on to help your thoughts not intrude.
this process is GOLD. YOU HAVE TO TRY IT to believe it
The most powerful influential man in human history at present! Wim hof!
WHM changed my life for the better - love it - thanks Wim
Dear Wim, just wanted to say "Thank you, biggest hugs from Berlin" for beeing there for us in times of trouble. Ice-rock giving us opportunity to breathe when it seems like it was never so important like these days. 🌷⚘💐 Thank you, Dankeschön!!!!
Berlin is awesome, super relaxed people and everyone has fashion
@@novictim Thank you so very much ! 💐 Greetings from awsome Berlin 😉🌷⚘💐
Love you Wim, thank you so much for all you do ✨
Dear Wim,
I have done your breathing exercises and cold therapy daily for almost 2 years.
I have 2 questions:
1.) after the out breath, once you feel the urge to breathe, why do you suggest only holding the in breath for 15 seconds? I like holding it until I feel the urge to breath which is often for 1 minute or longer. Why only 15 seconds?
2.) in your guided breathing TH-cam video you mention “slow your heart rate down” - would you please expand on this?
Thank you so much ✨

You have changed my life. Thank you Wim Hof
Hi Wim! Thanks for the video. Turn on the cold and turn on the life! Warm greetings from Wishram.
Thank You MY FRIEND 💙
Im just gonna point out that he didn't really explain similarities and differences between techniques. He just said that eastern stuff is esoterical mumbo jumbo and needs time to be useful while western people need something western.
Exactly. It takes maturity to acknowledge and pay respect to ancient methods from which you obviously drew your method from. Apparently, among many benefits, integrity is not one of the benefits that come with the Wim Hof method.
1:30 what does he mean by "if you go long enough" is it rounds or time practice?
I say both. The longer you practice over time the more you understand the intricacies of your mind. The more rounds you can do, the deeper you dive into your mind. That's just my own opinion from my 3 years practicing the whm, from a place of severe trauma
The coolest guru ever.
literally
How often do you all do this? Daily, several times a day, more than 3 rounds, what's best? Thanks!
Had this question for long, ever since i heard of your Method, So thank you for replying to that...
Bravo 👏
And he puts the people in freezing water, instead of boiling…
What is the difference between Wim Hof Breathing and Qi Gong Breathing and the benefits of each one
Language support necessar because all the world need you Ice man From Turkey hi 😊🇹🇷 Love you Superhuman ❤
I 100% agree!!! WHBM is perfect 4 the life we live in west! Love u man! ❤️ Thanks 4 all the wisdom you teach!!! 🙌🙌🙌
@1:29 Can someone please explain what does Wim mean here by going long enough into the breathing?
I think he talk in term of months/years
The method he promotes is neither his nor tummo the breath of fire. It is simply a hyperventilation technique used by free divers and breath-hold competitors to over-oxygenate the blood to last longer under water etc. Some competitions don't allow hyperventilation techniques and some do. It's nothing new, but overall it has some benefits and Wim is good at promoting it and he's got the records to back it up.
thanks for this comment. It is not that deep but works.
Doing WHM since a couple of months now, it's such a good start in the morning especially the cold😬.
Thanks for your passion Wim, you are such a blessing for this planet.
A question , 1 week a go I thought I do some more rounds. So I did 12 rounds, my retention high was like 3:40min ( is was stunned)
At some point, there was this tone in my head, not a Tinnitus but like a constant high tone, in like in some of them solfeggio healing frequencys.
Can you explain or comment on that tone?
I love your energy and happy personality 🥰 watched the last episode on TV you are such an inspiration!! I love your method and will always keep it going in my life .. you're amazing AMAZING!! ❤️
Great stuff
Ty for your breathing technique Wim 😎👍
Thank you wim I feel amazing after 4 months.. legend ❤️😇
Honesty is key. Heavily 'inspired by' yoga, pranayama and tummo !?
technically speaking, in most cases inflammation is a good thing. _(Inflammation is a natural defense mechanism that helps your body heal from injury or infection)_
However, sometimes inflammation can become chronic, which means that it lasts for a long time.
Thank u again really a precious man ❤️🙏
Thanks to the universe for you! 🙏🦋🌈💫
Great explanation. Thank you Wim!
Wim,💚 thanks you, you are a blessing🥳 to this world, to us 😃
A daily WHM routine for a few years has changed my life, literally. I'm like a whole different person now. I fell off the wagon a few months and feel myself getting back into negative thought patterns but I am going back to discipline myself again on a daily basis. Anyone who suffers from an overly negative attitude, depression, anxiety and similar issues should really start a daily WHM routine!
What exactly is your routine and amount of breaths/rounds/retention?
I wonder, is there a breathing technique to do lucid dreaming? Or Lucid day dreaming? Thank you. 😊
Can I do the breathing with a flue when I'm sick?
Great video. Thank you Wim for sharing all that knowledge.
Stupendous work Wim,
WIM HOF SIR I had an Idea!!!
Your guided video is just amazing
But I wish it extended, so you could walk through us getting into the water lol
I mean i can get in the water its just easier if you forced me over a recording........ plus i think more ppl would follow through instead of just doing the breathing.
I hit a new personal record for push ups today! 45! It’s taken me a couple months to get that many, but doing the breathing before gets me mentally ready for it. Because otherwise I get bored and tired around 30.
Tummo my dear mother you are but one river meeting the calm of night where dreams mount compassionate horizons dancing the play of consciousness to reflections selflessly a guide in union its essence. ~ lama
Homage to the five yogas.
Every morning. I love it!
i could 100% see Robin Williams doing a great Wim Hof
Hello Wim! Is there any breathing method to effectively cool down body temperature during very hot and humid summer months? No access to cool water, no air conditioner here..
Sitali pranayama might help.
@@marabunta1980 yes, this is the only breathing method i have found so far.. It helps a little but not enough when the weather is very heavy and hot.. Thanks for your reply.
Holaaa, hermoso esa forma de respirar. Portavoz en Español
Gracias 🙏💜
You got a better view 😂! Thanks for your method wim, thought me a lot 🧘♂️ ♥!
A veces cuando hago la tercera ronda pierdo un poco la noción y no sé si termino la respiración final, la que se sostiene 15 segundo no recuerdo... Es normal?
I Love you Wim I wanted to visit you so much !!!
One is a giraffe and one is a zebra. So beautiful. It’s not about the thinking or conceptualizing. Fully in and let it go. Just be in this moment. What am I supposed to focus my attention and energy on? Nothing. It’s all there.
I like the better view and how you describe whm. Thank you
Hey Wim, do you ever get cold/sick?
At 2:18 the subtitles should read inflammation not information.
Beautiful wim ❤️
I do both every morning. I have noticed though that if I add the visualization from tummo to the Wim Hof method I get much hotter much faster than with tummo or Wim Hof alone. I think one of the potential use cases for tummo is to be able to increase our core tempature, maybe decrease too?, simply using visualization. I think of it as a tool in the tool box and the tool box is helping me gain more concious influence over my autonomic system from various directions
hello i want to buy wim hof method video course but i don't understand english i want to watch broadcasts in turkish can you help me
I want to buy courses in Turkish language
Love that cold and deep breathing whim
I’m 66 and doing cartwheels in the morning
Tomorrow I swim in river temp 6 degrees celsius
Are you going to meet up with Sadhguru this year?
Nothing to do with tummo what he does(im not saying it doesnt have its benefits). I dont know why peiple call what he does tummo but im glad he clarifies it
Ohhh ans tummo has independent origin roots in indian vajrayana
Ill be using his book for fireplace starter.
this is how it looks like when arrogance meets the ignorance.
I don’t know what to do, I was holding my breath for over 2 minutes, and have been sick since getting my Covid Vax, and now I can NOT hold my breath for 30 seconds. It’s fu@ken terrifying. Why ?
Still waiting on the difference explained…. 🤔

The cartoon right at the beginning of the video is so hilarious! But 25 cents US money is way too high to dry clothes in the Tummomat (Tummo Laundromat); Tibetans can't afford that! 😂Wish you had allowed it to run for several seconds instead of just one second though!
