    I found your site by accident while looking for a basic how-to on carving soapstone. What a gem this video is! Your talent, the art, the thoughtfulness of your narrative - I can't believe this has had less than 1000 views. You deserve a much, much wider audience and subscriber base. Best of luck to you as an artist, a husband and a father.

    I also carve, and at no means as well as you do. I do get lost in my work while I'm working. I only wish I could work along side of you.

    I really enjoyed this video and your narrative was very helpful. I’m quite new to soapstone carving as I’ve only done 2 small pieces a while back, now working on my third ( still only using chisels.)Do you think a small dremel would be a good place to start?

    • @Andrewgableart
      @Andrewgableart  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes if you are doing smaller pieces a dremel could be really helpful, although it will be a bit more dusty perhaps but could be worth trying out. You can see which dremel I use in the links below and also the bits you need for stone (you will probably have to copy/paste the title of the dremel bits back into amazon to get an updated product)

      The oil I use is called tung oil but I have recently began melting natural bees wax onto the stone for the finish.

    Where can you find soapstone ?

    • @Andrewgableart
      @Andrewgableart  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can find it all over the place. Just do a search for soapstone for sale in your area. I would assume a lot of suppliers sell Brazilian Soapstone which is what I typically use.

    Amazing carving. I would love to have one. I carve out of wood. My late son lived in Squamish b.c.
