What should I carve next???
A dog! :)
Coral and Turtle!
Can you do an owl ?
Kangaroo ???
How about a bust, of yourself.
I watched the whole thing, which isn’t unusual. What was unusual is that my wife also watched the whole thing and was wildly impressed. Great video man!
seems like you have competition bro
I love both of your work
I hope you made her watch on a different device - need that extra view. 😂 glad you guys enjoyed watching!
So she likes resin and wood over a mammoth tusk and a custom barn door XD
why "thank you guys for watching", i'm a woman and i watched your work for this nice bear and fisch toooo ! ;-) !
As a granite fabricator we drill holes with wet/dry diamond core bits attached to grinders with the speed down low and works perfectly you can find 3/16 core bits up to as big as you want or need water helps cool the bit so the stone won't crack or burn the bit up but they make core bits especially for dry use as well they are a little more aggressive depending on the stone you are drilling through
Black lives matter
The grain on the fish is mental. That's some fine looking wood
there's three things i love about this video. one this artist shares his process form beginning to end . second although he is and amazing artist he is willing to experiment. to get the job done.and the best one is he knows his tools and work but he is still a student and willing to learn from others and ask questions and take suggestions.
Don't know if I'm the only one but the dark cracks in the wood with fill look like battle scars on the bear. Really adds a whole entire story on the piece. Absolutely phenomenal
I was literally just about to say this especially that deep gash on it's back... Stunning .. I wish he'd leaned into that look
@@pearlp1197 Make sure you guys get your lives right with God before its too late and you guys go to Hell. Definitely.
Fr it looks epic
Resin is bad for the environment, and that wood deserves better, sick people
One thing I found out rather quickly after I installed my mini-split in my shop a few years ago.... If your shop generates a lot of dust, you MUST clean those filters regularly. There is a dramatic effect on cooling when the evaporator filters are clogged and they clog surprisingly fast. Just a heads up :)
TH-cam is full of people working with wood and epoxy. But only few of them are actually artists. Wow man, wow.
I absolutely love your art work!!!!! The bear is in a class all by its self.....you are the greatest and so talented.....you pay such close attention to details.....enjoy watching you keep it up......thank you
Something that's worked for me in the past when drilling into rock/hard stone products is to build a volcano shaped dam (out of plumber's putty) around where you want to drill the hole. You put either water, or lubricating oil in there to help keep your bits cooled/lubricated and ease the process of drilling your hole. I just the same technique when I'm doing ceramic tile work as well, and tile can be even more finicky at times. Hope this helps. ✌️😎
I *use* the same technique for ceramic tile... Sorry, auto correct
That is a great idea! thanks for the tip!
There are some sharp paddle shaped 2 or 4 ridged bores for ceramic tiles. They will work well for stone as well. You should work without hammer action and use low rotation speeds to not to brake the bore.
And of course the hole should be generously moistened.
I use tile drills with plenty of water.
I use this technique too especially with my smaller stone projects and it works like a champ 😊
As others have suggested, diamond core drill bits are the choice for stone. For slate, it'll need to be kept wet, and drill in small stages, a few mm at a time at low pressure. Also, avoid the arrow head bits used for tile etc, and no hammer setting. Slate is brittle, and can chip and flake away super easily, if you use chisel tips, and the hammer setting can just shatter slate. There are other options, like ultrasonic drills, but that's just throwing $$$ at a simple problem. Love your work!
If it isn’t Brock Little. I see your guitar picks all over Etsy man!
Added to that the speed of a cordless hand drill provide less power usually only for turning in screws. You get stronger cordless but try you benchpress drill next time.
Great video. I agree, the epoxy fillings look great as bear battle scars. Depite the beautiful carving, the show pedelstool ending was a fabulous choice.
Lovely job. 🪵
I was born and raised in Alaska. I've seen many browns in the wild, and this is by far the best and most beautiful example of wildlife art I've ever seen. Wow what a marvel. ❤
For drilling into stone, it be better to get a diamond tipped drill bit. Stone/rock is much harder than concrete and masonry.
also use proper masonry
drill

@@jayjayvanrooyen5894it’s not the drill it’s the drill bits
Possibly a hammer drill right will make it easier? And paired with with some quality drill bits should make it faster
A proper hammer drill will definitely make it easier
Oh my gosh, each sculpture you do, I think "this is the best one yet" and then the next one comes online and I'm just blown away. This is truly awesome and shows your amazing talent. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Thank you Patricia! Hopefully I keep setting the bar higher! I am learning a lot as I keep doing more of these.
I’m in awe! I can’t stopping looking at your work! I a so inspired by you. I am an artist but have never done sculpture, I would love to start, thank you for sharing your amazingly beautiful pieces.
Your skills are amazing . I am Carpenter. And I am just getting into wood carving epoxy and furniture, making it has been my dream for years and you have inspired me so many times with your videos. Thank you so much
I'd love to see you and Cam at Blacktail do a collaboration, the two best wood artists on TH-cam by far!
Would love to!
You should ask the Mr. Cool team to connect you, he got one too!
@@BMSculptures Please! You, Cam, and Epic Upcycling are the only 3 creators I watch.
Yes, he could do the table and you could do the legs as different animals holding up the table
*Same thought mate! Both of them are the BEST in their craftsmanship.* 😁
As always, amazing work.
Regarding your choice of drill bits, you used carbide tipped drill bits for masonry. But you weren't drilling into masonry. Try out diamond hole saws. They come in a large variety of sizes. I can get them at the local lumber yard. They work great for stone and ceramic tile. You should use a thin piece of wood and drill a pilot hole. This is your guide. It will keep the hole saw from walking. Then line it up and use the diamond hole saw. Keep a small trickle of water on the bit. It doesn't go fast, but it will go 100 times faster than a masonry bit.
I can drill holes in stone, but I could never carve like you.
Thank you for the tip. I have had a couple comments stating this already so I am sure this was my issue. Thanks for the tip Johnny!
Use Rubi ceramic diamond drill wet system! The best systems
Start holes with small bits and work your way up to desired diameter will help also
1st time I've seen your work, and I can honestly say you are a true artist and a creative genius. I look forward to checking out all your videos and future projects.
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING.. WAY TO GO DUDE.. I LOVED THE ENTIRE VIDEO AND THE REVEAL TOOK MY BREATH AWAY. LOVE LOVE LOVE😍😍😍
What a beauty! The grain in the bear is beautiful and the addition of the fish with its amazing grain, just finishes the sculpture perfectly.
Some of the most beautiful grain I've ever seen!
@@BMSculpturesquestion, did you clamp the fish in the mouth or hold it still it dried? If quick dry glue, what brand please.
@@candynewton4945just held it in place until cured. I used total boat 4 minute epoxy.
Make sure you add extra dust filtering to that Mini-Split if you are working with a lot of dust. I had one and it clogged within a few days causing the humidity to build up in the unit and run down the wall, eventually swamping the circuit board. They warranty things very quickly though, so cudos to Mr. Cool for that.

Beyond astounding. Utmost respect. I do resin but minor things and this would be a dream piece to me. You are extremely talented and so much care and attention to detail. Awestruck from an Aussie girl that wishes for your talent 👌👌👌👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇦🇺❤️🤍💙❤️🤍💙
I like the way it takes form. The bear was waiting for you inside that piece of wood. Now he is free! And you feed him...No words! Bravo!
The grain of wood for that trout is amazing. Fits perfectly for the scales. Simply awesome work.
Carbide would probably do fine in that tile if you were using a rotary hammer/SDS drill (I don’t think the tile would survive, though) but for a compact drill you would be better off with a diamond hole saw. Sweet carving!

You are very talented, sir! It is a pleasure to watch you create such beautiful art.
This is incredibly beautiful, you are obviously a well talented sculpturest. I can't wait to see you create another sculpture. Thanks
Resin is bad for the environment, and that wood deserves better, sick people
This is a wonderful piece of art . The wood you chose for the main part is gorgeous and I can't wait to watch you sculpting your next piece!!!
This is one of the most amazing pieces of art I’ve seen! You are truly talented! Thank you for sharing your art and your process with us!
Wow!!! You are an absolute artisan beyond belief! This is amazingly beautiful!!! Again, wow.
The craftsmanship and attention to detail 🙌🏾🙌🏾
As for drilling through stone, I'd recommend diamond core drill bits and use them with water. Great work! Thanks for sharing
Total agree would have made it a 10min job with diamond holesaw

Love your videos, thank you for sharing your work! Only room for improvement I see: the presentation of the finished sculpture. I would like to see more of it! I would like to see more wideangle shots, where I can really understand the complete sculpture instead of only details. And I would like the end-montage to be slower, less hectic, so I have time to really take it all in.
Keep it up man, I REALLY appreciate your videos!
I get this a lot.... Unfortunately it is a youtube tactic. I wish I could have long detailed shots but a massive portion of the audience will drop off immediately and the video will perform worse.... I will have all the detailed shots on my website though! Updating that as we speak.... If you ever want to see more details always head to my website!
@@BMSculptures Maybe just make the last shot be a 10 second slow walk around the sculpture?
Absolutely beautiful, love the in depth look, your work never seems to disappoint me, great job👍👍👍👍
You, sir, are a freaking master wizard. Stunning artwork!
Hey, McF. Glad I came back in time for this one! Once again, you have captured a beauty that evokes the grandeur, the independence, the hunger, the majesty and might that this country IS, and that exists in every single American. Poetic and Powerful, as always. PLEASE keep these magnificent creations coming. And Thank you.
Resin is bad for the environment, and that wood deserves better, sick people
My favorite sculpture was the bear, but you’ve outdone yourself on this one. That magnificent fish just upped the ante.
I always look forward to your unique art pieces ❤
That's a really nice art piece. Love that fish detail and I hope we'll get to see you doing more of something similar in the future. It kind of makes the sculpture/statues more alive, not to say they wouldn't of been really realistic anyway. It just gives something "more" into it.
Your skill AND talent just shine on this incredible piece! Thank you for the video. I love seeing the accuracy and correctness that you achieve!
One of those first time viewers you mentioned here. Artists and the creation of their art never cease to amaze me and I'm always intrigued by their processes, even if it's in a time-lapsed/abridged format. Amazing work.
You've done it again Blake, another masterpiece 😮 you were definitely right saying the burl was saved for the right project, and this is it 👍
Thanks! Glad you agree.... Now I have to go find another burl 😬
@@BMSculptures may I suggest....a penguin? 🤔
You are so talented. I hope you make your millions doing this because the work you do it stunning.
Великолепное изделие!
Точной расчёт всей работы на всех этапах.
Мастер светлая голова и золотые руки!
Absolutely gorgeous! I think this project was truly successful.
I know that you mentioned having a preference for the head of your projects being in resin, but I find that it has such an ethereal, icy, watery, smoky quality that you could use in uplifting future projects. I would like to see it as water or a spiritual body in an upcoming project.
My initial reaction was to see the resin as splashing waves of water at a bear's feet and a ribbon of water from the fish. Then I thought of how you have pigmented, smoky swirl and of a kitsune (Japanese mischievous fox deity) morphing from smoky spirit into a solid creature.
I also think that a resin tree cradling a wood bur baby might kinda have a nice ancestral ties vibe. Or perhaps an unhatched wooden dragon fetus suspended inside of an elaborate resin egg might look cool too. Feel free to use any ideas that might inspire you. Keep creating them wonderful pieces of art.
I hope
I am annoyed that TH-cam hasn't suggested your channel to me before now, but at least I have your previous content to catch up on 😂
I really enjoyed this video and as I am just starting my sculpting journey this is excellent to watch.
You've got a new subscriber and I look forward to seeing more of your work 😊👍
Excellent work I have sat through about 5 videos and am so expressed with your work!! You have asked what to sculpt next, and when I was watching the wolf and thinking how cool an animal would be with hidden animals in it. It was just a thought!! Keep up the great work you are a true artist!!
Seriously....I'm so impressed (blown away!) by your talent, your approach, your attitude, and your results. I checked out one video, then found myself going through all I could find, watching from start to finish as your work evolved. Brilliant. Thanks for sharing your gift(s).
Its an amazing piece as usual, what I would think would be an even improvement to your work, is if you can fill these small gaps with a metal, maybe copper or bronze, I don't know if it's viable, but I think it will add another complexity and dimension to the already magnificent work.
Clicked immediately always love your sculptures
Thanks!
That is absolutely the most amazing sculpture, you have some crazy skill with wood
What a beautiful, God given talent you have been given, that in your hands you create such majesty! I am always in awe of these gifts people have 🙏🏼

Absolutely gorgeous! It's so majestic! Now this is my favorite piece!😅💥❤
I'm used'to watch people turn wood and epoxy on small lathe, but it?s the first time I see a sculpture made with a chainsaw. Actually very relaxing to watch.
Incredible sculpture!
For drilling stone/ concrete I use to have the same issue. It isn’t the bits. It’s the drill. I too am a DeWalt guy. Check out the DeWalt ATOMIC Hammer Drill or similar product. I had to drill about 75 holes for rebar into concrete in my foundation & it was smooth, easy & seamless!
you can also find diamond bits for drilling hard material like granite and different stones but the drill is still very important you're right
I confirm, the easiest way to drill stone is with a Hammer Drill.
It is a hammer drill!
@@BMSculptures I know it says it is (I have the same one) but I’m telling you try the one (or similar) I recommended & you’ll very clearly see & feel the difference.
