    Owner of Kelvinator KLC 505 since 2011. Such a great machine. Still in use. It runs perfectly. I have only spent 50 Euros for repair. Totally a value of money machine 😊

    1:10 with this type of washing machine and how the agitator spins while changing direction rapidly i was not expecting it to shake😂.

      The drive mechanism for this was quite different and for its time, rather clever. At the time it was the "washer with the fewist moving parts". Now, obviously that is not so with direct drive stuff. They did need service, but when they ran good, they did very well. The agitator "orbits" every time the motor starts as that is how the drive train is made. Cool machine and a bit of a novelty.

    My mother had one of these. The agitator was sky blue with a filter rim attached to it. Kelvinator''s Magic Minute got clothes clean for a family of six children and two adults for a little over a decade with no issues. For us it was a superb machine!

    Just a fabulous Washer very unique washing style. This set it apart from the rest of the pack along with the Frigidaire and Philco washers. I wonder if these were repair prone?

    • @johnalbanese30
      @johnalbanese30 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yes they were repair prone. My parents brought a Kelvinator washer in 1959. About six months later mom was using it,and she smelled smoke
      The called repair, and they said the motor was shorted. Three years later, mom was using it,asd it was washing and spinning at the same time. On Saturday dad pulled it apart and repaired the machine. The next year mom was using it,and the machine was leaking. Again on Saturday dad pulled it apart and repaired it. In the fifth year, the machine had another problem. That Saturday dad and my brother showed it the door. So old machine can be just troublesome as the junk that is made today.

      @@johnalbanese30 I guess that style washer really splashed water from the outer tub down into the mechanism I don’t see how I could not splash any water.

    • @Gsohoover
      @Gsohoover  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Pat they did require servicing. The weakest part of these is the tub boot. Once that goes, these are useless.

    • @LlyleHunter
      @LlyleHunter ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Years later they’d gone to an agitator design and concentrated on water recirculation within the tub and advanced features that focused on fabric care. They couldn’t continue producing this design.

    • @gcfifthgear
      @gcfifthgear ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LlyleHunter Kelvinator, as you no doubt know, was sold to White Consolidated Industries in 1968, and they consolidated, as it were, the design to the top-loading design used by Westinghouse, which was the design also used by Frigidaire after WCI bought them out in the 1970s
