    Got mine out for its first real ride today. Amazing machine. I have always had great bikes and this is just another level. Great mileage at 75mph / 125kph and hauling ass around corners at that speed. Great brakes, great acceleration and comfortable.

    Thanks for this! I"m in Fort Collins, have been doing back country stuff on a triumph tiger 900 and itching to get a powerful yet agile bike for the canyons. Was thinking about the 890R but am a bigger rider as well at 6'1" 210 lbs, after watching this you've got me convinced to just go for the 1290. Also, thank you for the Fay Meyers rec, I"ll swing by there on my way to the Springs next week!

    2020 SDR guy here, you hit on a lot of fine points. For me it just checks a lot of boxes. If I want to put in a backpack and go on a longer adventure, check. If I feel the need for speed, check. If I feel like slicing through apexes in the curves, check. If I feel like putting through town, check.
    I did a bunch of mods too,
    Heated grips
    Comfort seat - it really is
    WP apex pro steering damper
    Austin racing exhaust
    BMC air filter.
    Clear clutch cover

    I bought this same bike a year ago but had to move away and it sat for a year. When I decided on this bike I had test ridden all of the hyper nakeds but chose this bike. It is the best of the bunch on the street, has the best tech, best gas mileage, most fun, handles as good as I have owned and is tame on city streets. I have had zero issues with any of the 6 KTM's I have owned. I added the bags and the Puig windshield making it even more useable. As far as best bike in the world? If we are talking hyper naked bikes I would agree. It is certainly not the best dirt bike in the world....;-). Once I got home and was able to spend time with it I have a very similar opinion and out of the 10 bikes I have I keep going back to the Super Duke!

      @upshiftingadventures4034  ปีที่แล้ว

      I hate to say it but I’m thinking the same. I love the overland capability of the GS but I absolutely hate the tele-lever front end. It always feels super sketchy on dirt to me. I’d rather have the traditional front forks. Plus the new KTM adventure with the low set gas tank and all that monster power really looks great to me.

    • @chrisvantassel8867
      @chrisvantassel8867 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@upshiftingadventures4034 I agree, in fact I have done this circle once before. I had a 2006 GSA, bought it without test riding it. I could never bond with it. I ended up with an 1190, then a 1290 and loved them both way more than the GS. Years later I bought that 40th anniversary bumble bee version and it is definitely better than the old GS but is still just sterile. It is an amazing bike but there is no wow factor. KTM rules in that category for sure. Sadly, I am an idiot and will go full circle when I should have kept my 2017 SAR. They new does look great but I have a Husky 701 that is being converted into a rally bike and I also have a Beta 390 so I am trying to fit in a machine that is not redundant. Can't decide between the 890R or the new 1290R. If the 890R is good for long distance I may go with that and sell the 701....but that is a hard bike to part with! BTW, I grew up in Littleton but live in Nashville now. I want to come out and do the black bear pass....cheers!

    I agree 100% , I am 6' 5" 270 lbs now, probably looking to get down to 250. Any hoot I had an RC8R and while it was an awesome bike. I was just to big for the frame and seating position. More than 20 minutes on a straight road and I was done. Of course that being said I am going to be 70myrs old here real soon, ex football player lots of osteo arthritis. That being said the 2022 SDR EVO is awesome. I have done a few more things to mine, basically, frame, axle and swing arm sliders, Puig sport screen, rage tidy tail, HypeerPrro RSC steering damper, bar end mirrors, then finally a Pro Taper EVO SF race bar. Basically about a 1/2" wider each side with slightly less sweep. It helps a lot for me because of my arthritis in elbows, and shoulders. My other bike is a 2020 KTM SAS , with Rottweiler Stage 5 , Arrow race exhaust header, and a 17" front wheel. It's pushing 170 hp at crank. Much bigger bike and it is more comfortable for sure, but for pure fun factor the EVO is ridiculous. Contemplating the rear set you have, I'm thinking I may pull the trigger on it. Interesting enough I live in Annapolis Maryland and one of my riding buddies who has a S1000XR, is going to the BMW MOA rally which is near Richmond VA this year 8 -10 June. Just thinking I am going to bring one of my toys (EVO or SAS) and either way my bike will be one of the most looked at bikes in the lot. Cheers!!!

      MCN cannot stand the KTM brand, their reviews lack facts and they focus on the smallest little niggle they can find.

      @@lubas88pl its a panigale with no fairing.same as the tuono.the sdr was made specifically,not a stripped back race bike.thats why i think its out on its own.

      @@mart7798 Yes that’s correct,we know that.
      Why is SDR better than SF V4?
      I know KTM has more torque and pulls better.
      I’m keep hearing “yeah Ducati has only high rev power,it’s only good on track”.
      I’ve seen SF in action and they also have plenty of torque in low-mid range,you just have to open up that throttle more aggressively.

    They are torque monsters but they are not fast

      I’m not really sure how you come up with that. Mines fast. 0-60 in 2.8 0-100 in around 6.5. If that’s no fast, I don’t know what is.

    What you said about rear wheel locking on downshifting has to do with the clutch, any modern bike has a slipper clutch that prevents this. It definitely has nothing to do with ABS.😂😂

      PS did you try the Super Adventure S yet? Same engine more comfortable and more possibilities only 20 HP less at the top end which you won't use anyways.

    • @upshiftingadventures4034
      @upshiftingadventures4034  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It definitely has to do with ABS as you can feel the ABS pulsing in the rear wheel while braking and downshifting. I’m aware of the MSR feature but ABS is still being used as well.
