      +TrailRecon We just had ours powder coated and about ready for install but we can't find the 17/32" anywhere in a unibit like yours. Can you tell me where you got yours or if you just went a little past the 1/2"? Thanks!!!!

    This was an excellent video! You covered all of the tools to avoid starting a project and getting pissed when you have it apart and realize you can't finish in the same day. I delayed my install until I had the tools and it went so smoothly. You covered the good tips like mark center with an punch and pilot drill prior to final drill bit size, this made my holes dead on, and I went and got better drill bitts. Great camera work showing us what to look for, what orientation the brackets would be in, and where the drilled out holes and nuts would secure to on the inner walls. Thanks for tips on not over tightening (I chronically do) and the reminder on being vigilant on using the correct screw for the correct hole as they are pretty close in length. You made my install knowledge go from 0 to 100% in a great tutorial, keep up the videos and Thanks again!

    I’ve thought about these fenders for awhile now and from the install video’s I’ve watched I just didn’t want to cause they looked really hard and I didn’t want to screw up and wasn’t going to pay for them to be installed. But after watching your video I’m very confident about doing it myself. Thanks for taking the time to cover the entire install. Poison Spyder should be paying you for this and use your video for the install. Great job as always.

    The aluminum fenders is the way to go! And that powder coating will endure and last much longer than regular paint,

    Just a couple tips for others who may come across these and want to do them. Install all of the nutsert hardware with anti-seize and the actual nutserts themselves should be put into the body with an RTV of sorts to seal up the hole.
    I've installed two sets now and a third set (yet another friend's jeep) is on the way. Those rear brackets are tough to get with going through the tub. We guesstimated and the holes were actually pretty close.

    Your timing of this video with the nutsert instruction couldn't have been better for me. Just before I left for a two week vacation I purchased that exact same nutsret tool for a tailgate table I'll be installing in a couple of weeks. Thanks for another great tutorial.

    Hey Brad. Great Video. I'll be adding the same fenders. 1 little suggestion. When adding bolts to about anything, with all the rock N Rolling you'll be doing, don't forget to use some Lock tight. Will help months/yrs of trails down the road from loosening and lost hardware. Keep up the great videos.

    the christmas tree bit makes quick work drilling hrough metal! It's one of my favorite tools in my garage. I use it for pretty much every fabrication job.

    I was looking at the aluminum ones to save weight, but I am probably going to go with steel and here is why, if I end up tipping the jeep on its side, I want the fender to support the weight and not collapse. I do like the fact that aluminum is very light, but I guess it depends on what type of wheeling you do as well.

      this fenders from Poison Spyder do hold up to tipping on side, but dropped on is sketchy.

    Color matched fenders look so much better than the black plastic butI still prefer the black top over the painted ones. This bad boy is looking better with every upgrade. Great video.

    Great video Brad... And I don't even own a Jeep :) On the Nut Inserts: Making a notch with a file in the hole where the NutSert will fit, will help prevent it from spinning once it is seated.

    They look great. Powdercoating was a pretty close match. I'd be happy with it. I have the same fenders on mine and also use the same rivit nut tool. I drill my holes so the riv nut pushes into the hole with a little resistance and I use a small amount of a marine sealer on the knurls before I set them. I have NEVER had a nut spin! Good tip on being prepared to chase the threads. If the bolt doesn't go right through then chase it! I just bedlined my rear inner fenders but installed the front PS liners with the fenders.

    Installed these about eight months ago. Wish you did these sooner. LOL. Not hard but from a confidence standpoint. Didn’t do those holes on that rear bracket either. Went with the narrow in the front. I also went with the steel for the extra protection. Love the look and they are rock solid. Recommend their frame mounted rock sliders as well.

    Hey Brad, amazing install video! Poison Spyder fenders will b one of my next upgrades for my rubicon.... with that said, I really appreciate ur opinions on aluminum fenders, which sealed the deal for me, also as I’ve mentioned before when I installed my front PS mid brawler front bumper, their instructions weren’t as detailed as I would’ve like, and videos on TH-cam were so so at best, your attention to detail is the best, in ur videos! I’ll let u know when the install party is, so u can come by and supervise or do most of the work 😂😂 Thanks again for putting this video out there!!!

    Nice job Brad! I love the looks of the fenders. Kudos for buying the right tools for the job. I’m a aircraft mechanic and have installed tons of rivnuts, they work very well as long as they’re installed flush with the sheet metal and I install them wet with corrosion inhibiting paint or sealant. It keeps rust to a minimum and it really helps to set them in there.

    Great video Brad! I am your new most recent subscriber from Sweden. About one week back I started looking into getting a Jeep, a Wrangler and I started searching the web for forums as well as Videos on TH-cam. I gotta say it you opened up a whole new world to me. For several years I been thinking of gettting a sailboat and drop my life in Sweden and explore the world but now I am thinking more of configuring my own Overlanding Jeep and explore Europe, Africa and perhaps a little Middle East.
    It came about my most resent holiday spent in Dubai, UAE where I went on dessert safari and just loved the offroad dune bashing. Always loved nature, traveling and exploring.
    Thank you for opening up this new world to me. Started to watch through all your videos - love it!

      TrailRecon agree, the point about sailing though would be to be available to visit places where one can't drive or fly like remote small islands in the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Ocean.
      I will defiantly get myself a Wrangled. I looked at a 75 year anniversary a few days ago. It was nice but I am.missing a lot of the conveniences a new 2018 would give buy get that is also a lot more money. The new ones seems to have a lot less fuel used. What I heard. Here in Sweden I pay about 1.9 dollars for a liter so about 7 dollars a gallon. The one I drove was really thirsty so if I get a new one which drinks 60% of the 2016 I would save up that money in a few years.
      What do you think of the 75 anniversary edition?

    A tip when drilling the holes @11:50 is to leave one set of bolts installed in the bracket while drilling the first inner hole. The bracket will help guide the drill bit while drilling. Then install the two bolts inside and out, remove the other bolt you left in and then drill the second inner hole. This will ensure both inner holes have the exact spacing needed.
    Also it should be mentioned to paint the drilled holes before installing the nutserts. It isn't a bad idea either to use red loctite or retaining compound on them to seal them and ensure they don't spin or rust in the future.

    Hello Brad...
    Love this vid and like always, great job!
    I have the identical ones on my Granite JKUR in color match form like yours.
    Definitely OEM ++ look and function :)
    Those challenging (2) drill spots into the rear tub for the rear bracket caused me some real head scratching.
    What I did to complete that part of the install was to carefully estimate (measuring helps) where one of the holes needs to be and since you have to remove inner tub trim and carpet to fasten nuts anyway, simply use that inside space in the trunk area to drill a small pilot hole where you’ve estimated where the first hole should be.
    Then access where it landed in comparison to the (2) desired locations. Now measure/adjust to drill the (2) holes at their precise locations. Paint all (3) holes to rust-proof.
    Presto, done!

    I actually like stock fenders because I think that’s what gives the Jeep it’s iconic look. I would just buy stock fenders or enhance their durability. But good for you, cool videos!

    I switched to heavy duty fenders and learned hard way why factory installed plastic ones........
    Yes fender bearly bent when I scrubbed the tree, but my panel and frame got bent.....
    Took them off and back to plastic

      That’s one of the reasons I’m debating on switching the plastic ones out. If I rip them off, I can always replace the clips with no body damage

    Man, that seams high on the pain, I don't blame you for leaving, goodness, that is high.
    the $63 bucks for the nut insert tool looks like it would be the way to go on putting those nuts in.
    As always a great install video sir, I am still a ways off from needing the fenders, but like you I want to replace mine to something like this, they do look great, I have a friend who owns a powder coat shop 45 miles from me, he did a ton of powder coating for my motorcycle in the past, and he is already aware we have a Jeep now, good job.

    Paint the brackets with bed liner rust -resistant coating or equivalent. Before installing the inserts, sand the holes and add silicone to both holes and inserts. The material of the inserts and the holes are different - may cause galvanic corrosion . After screwing the bolts, also apply rust resistant coating. That is what the Air Force and USPS do to their fleet.

    Sweet brother! They look awesome! I just bought the fabtech tube fenders and AAL quick release fender liners so I can run 37s on my gladiator mojave. I am still in shock at the prices this kind of stuff brings but it will be worth the fun I'm sure.

    aluminium and steel don't mix they do not like being together that's why there is a rubber gasket to reduce corrosion between two dissimilar metals so if it was me i would fit the gaskets .the fenders look great and are very well made i love they way they have figured out flexing with those extra strengthening brackets they certainly will stand the test of time .

    Are you not concerned about bi-metallic conductivity where too different metals when in contact create a weak charge and causes the metal to break down and rust. That rubber gasket should have been used. Also, you should have used lots of bi-metallic grease to prevent this reaction and protect and save your metal. Red lock tight on the outer surface of the inserts would offer a bit more protection to prevent the insert from spinning and protect against corrosion once clamped. That's just my 2 cents. Nice jeep

      So basically the reactivity series of the various metals ... with one acting as an anode and the other as a cathode. Pretty sure the surfaces are painted and thus no redox reaction will occur. Unless you're referring to the actual bolts reacting with the nutsert material. Anti-seize should take care of that.

      @@christophermichaelson9050 nope it still corrodes my range rover did the same where the two metals came together and they were both painted plus my mates jeep with aluminium fenders only took 6 months before corrosion started because he did the same left off the gaskets he then made gaskets and put them on greased the bolt holes which were still clear of rust but we did anyway so far touch wood they have been on over 2 years and no more rust lines and white corrosion lines running down the paintwork thank golly so painted or not it still corrodes iam afraid don't ask me why but it just does and its a pain in the ass .

    Powder coating turned out great! I would have been tempted to prime them and coat them with a bedliner product.

    This is actually my next upgrade, I have the 2012 silver which is a different paint code than yours but I do live in San Diego so maybe Swift Powder Coat can help me out. Defiantly the closest I've seen powder coat get to matching paint. Good Job.

I'm bummed I couldn't make it out to the Valley of the Moon clean up but I've had my eye on that Goat Canyon Trestle ever since you mentioned it, Unfortunately I haven't found a way to get to it without a grueling hike, but I'll let you know if I find a way of getting out there.

    Great install video. I want to do those same fenders except the extra wide ones because here in New Hampshire we have to have our tires completely covered. Install doesn't seem too bad but I highly recommend anyone doing this buy the tool that you got. I did my rocker panels that require those and the nutserts started to spin. I had to have my buddy tack weld them into place. Now they will never move.

    Those flares are sick! Im not a big wrangler fan, but this makes your wrangler look awesome. I originally followed your channel due to your cherokee videos but all your videos are getting me excited for the future that might just have a jk in it....

    Man, those new fender flares really look great! My only issue with metal flares is that if you bang them against a rock, it will transfer the force right through them and they will dent the body instead of flexing the flare. One of the great features of the plastic flares is that they will flex if you bang them against a rock and they are cheap to replace if you break one, where the body panels are pretty expensive and need to be color matched, etc. Just some food for thought. They really do look awesome though! =)

      yeah, I get that for sure. I don't really care for the plastic myself, but it does serve a functional purpose. I think those Poison Spyder ones look by far the best out of all the options out there too. I am a big flat fender guy, I love the look of a JK or JKU with flat fenders, and believe me I have looked at every single option on the market numerous times and I always feel like those PSC ones are the nicest. If I ever go to metal flares, the PSC Aluminum ones you got are definitely the ones I would go with =)

      I have the same fenders they don’t dent the body, the fenders connects to the inner structure, they are tough as hell they slide against rocks and trees no problems👍

    I really like that tapered look of those fenders! Good call on the powder coat too. I always thought the black fenders were cool looking but paint matching gives it a better look imo. Good video man and the jeep is coming along very nice!

      You are spot that steel and aluminum can have some bad corrosion when matted together. I think with the thick powder coating on the fenders I'll be okay, but the gaskets are a good idea over all. Thanks!

    Brad I've been enjoying all your videos on trailing and jeep mods. What I'm curious about is your financial plan to afford all this stuff. You live in southern California, not exactly low cost of living. I live in a Seattle suburb, I feel that pain, but not as bad. So could you get a financial planner on your show with some steps to help us Dads supporting 2 kids a mom and a mortgage with a jeeping lifestyle?!?!😁

    Those fenders are next purchase I make already have the poison spyder inner fenders. Also have the Astro 1442 tool on my Amazon list just haven’t got them yet need more $$$. Great video.

    man you're just checking off all of my dream parts for my 2018 jk. I absolutely hate the textured plastic stock fender flares and bumpers, once you get them muddy its impossible to get them back to a nice black, i love the color matched fender flares, when my build finally comes together these are definitely on my list. Can't wait to see how they hold up to trail abuse. Great video as always.

      Pick up some Black Magic, that helps bring back the black in the bumpers for a bit, but yes, they are tough to keep looking good.

    If you decide to use the rubber gaskets I would try using a spray adhesive on them and stick them to the fender. That should make the install easier. Love your channel by the way, super jealous of how your jeep looks though ;)
