Title is a bit misleading. It's more like 11k AP per hour. You're multiplying it by 7 because AP is shared, but you're not gonna max out a swift cast which requires 18,000 AP in just 1 hour of doing this method
Quick tip for all using this method: instead of wiping all enemy groups and then saving/loading, just retry the fight Vs the last group and they will all respawn. Faster than going into menu and saving/reloading. Great guide, thanks for sharing.
If I may, it is actually much faster to utilize Cloud's Triple Slash(with an L1 shortcut). Sleek Saber with all of the attack bonuses. First Strike, ATB Boost, fire+ice/Elemental, 5* strength up, +10% strength accessory. Just engage, tap L1+R1, then tap your shortcut for triple slash twice. Approx 2.5sec per battle. Faster than magic att
Quick TLDR tips from all the comments: -Set to Easy mode (not sure if having Hard mode adds extra AP) it makes it so you just have to stay on Fira only and can use HPMP. If you have Swiftcast use Firaga. -Give Cloud as much Magic as you can -Have Aerith or someone else have Synergy with Petrify materia linked (non elemental damage) small AoE damage if Fira doesn’t kill -I find it easier to do the Gaghandi’s, Grandhorn then Grangalan and vice versa route. -Before you encounter the last set of mobs retry, so all of the other enemies respawn then engage them and repeat with the other side.
Hard mode does not increase AP/EXP, it's the fact that you completed the game that increases the AP/EXP gain. It was the same way for remake, people thought Hard mode increased it but that wasn't the case. I tested it out, I beat an enemy in hard mode, then beat the same enemy in easy mode and they gave the same AP.
pro tip, use chocobo armband with ap up and youll get significantly more ap. chocobo armband triples the ap of materia in that piece of equipment then put ap up on that for double ap
If you save your game right between the Greathorns and the other pack (3:05) and farm just those 2 groups you are even faster because save&reload is faster than running to the other 2 spots
I think I found a quicker method using just one mob in eastern Nibelheim using the save/reload method. The mob is in an open area just south of the silo and pipes in between the Chocobo Stop and the route up to the Mt. Nibel Southern Ascent. The mob has three Nibel Wolves and a Poison Cap. They give you a total of 30 AP per fight, the highest easy fight I have been able to find so far. My Materia setup is Fire/Ice-Magnify, Fire-MP Absorb, Fire-HP Absorb, Fire-Magic Focus and First Strike. I use Cloud with the Chocoking’s Cape and the Rune Blade with Full-Power Magic, Magic Attack +20, and Stagger Recovery. I think it may be overkill but it gets the job done fast. I cast two quick magnified basic fire spells which kills all four pretty quickly. With the save and reload it takes about twenty seconds from reload to reload. That gives about 90 AP per Materia per minute, 60 if it takes a little longer on the button presses. That makes 3600-5400 AP per Materia per hour if you do not stop to change anything out, rest or go shop. I hope this helps someone.
I've been thinking... Wouldn't it be more efficient to simply go to one of the Fiend Intel spots and just re-summon them every time you beat them instead of the whole "save/reload" bit? Just gotta find the one that gives the most AP out of those you can one shot.
I was thinking the same thing, but it was taking quite a bit more time to gain control again after beating them, so I stopped looking for the one with the highest AP. It might be worth trying.
@@Aaron-qb7jr Just tested out all the Fiend Intels that didn't have some gimmick that would make them take a while to kill. Came across 4 of them that gave 24 AP per run and one that gives 27. The one that gives 27 is in Cosmo Canion, it's the Sahagins. I don't really recommend them, since they tend to get one hit in on Cloud which usually results in a double KO. XD The one I would personally recommend is in the Grasslands, Fiend Intel 5: Picky Eater. They die to a simple fire spell, so no need for quick cast and even with the HP-MP materia, they don't hurt if they do get that hit in. On top of all that, they are real close to the reset point. So you don't need to run far to reset it, and unlike all the other ones that give 24 AP, there are only two of them in the encounter, whereas the others have 4 enemies, which complicates things a bit sometimes. Anyway, takes 25 seconds from the time you start pressing the reset button to the moment it pops up again after the fight so long as you have a magnified fire materia on your shortcuts. Using this video as a reference, turns out both methods give out roughly the same amount of AP over time. One cycle in the video (from pause to the next time you hit pause) gives about 0.914 AP per second. The way I came up with gives about 0.96 per second. I'm sure that the method in the video can get better results then shown by cutting down on time per cycle, I just don't see anyone being consistent with optimally farming that route. So they both do just about the same, but this newer method is simpler and only needs three materia instead of six. No need for Quick Cast and a second copy of the offensive materia. Can take off the First Strike materia too, thanks to the chocobo cape. HAH! Replaced the HP-MP materia with another fire materia linked to MP Absorption rank 1. Full refund on the Fire spell. XD
With the Gongaga spot it takes me around 50 seconds per clear including saving and loading, and at 75 AP per run it's still better than the Nibelheim spot. Plus you don't have to menu as much which makes it easier to do while watching videos and stuff. If that worked well for you though then that's great!
Something to consider (especially if you find another spot and make a followup video later), it would probably be more useful to most viewers to quantify it as AP per materia per hour. That gives a better idea of how long people will be spending maxing out any given materia, ie., seeing 80,000 and then having to divide by 7 characters (I believe is how you're doing the math here? Based on the last video) is less intuitive than just saying something like 9000 AP/materia/hour (which I believe is what you're actually arguing here, 75 AP and 30 seconds per monster pack). I bring it up because I was intensely confused by where the 80,000 was coming from, and had to rewatch the previous video. For a minute I thought you were counting how many slots you had, but that meant you'd be getting like, 900 AP/hour which clearly isn't the case. But also, knowing how much AP any given materia will get per hour helps quantify how long it takes to master specific materia. If you're grinding Time materia, knowing it takes 1200 AP to master gives quickly that you can master about 7 batches of them in an hour (giving some time to re-equip new ones when the old ones get mastered). If I'm trying to master Swiftcast, I know I can take that 9000 AP/hour, triple it, and know that that's... pretty much gonna take the whole hour to max it out even with the chocobo armband, jesus that thing takes so much AP.
@@credge It's 74 seconds per run, not 80. And even at 74 it's still 3600AP per hour per materia slot. 75AP per run (for anything not linked to AP Up), 48 runs per hour.
@@mimcduffee86 2:27 3:44 5:04 6:26 makes runs of 77, 80, and 82 seconds including saving/loading/running (minus ~5 seconds on one for standing still), so 74 seconds sounds reasonable. But in the end we're picking hairs over values very close to 3,500 ap/hr on a video that claims 80,000. Our values are within 10% of each other, the title is over 2,000% higher than either.
I fully agree with this. I was very confused about how this was going to get me 80,000 AP per hour for each materia. Seeing this it makes so much more sense to me.
For those who not have swiftcast yet, switch the game diff to easy so we can use blizzardra , fira to farm Aerith setup: accessory: chocoking cape, materia: HP MP , speed up, 1st strike, hp up, mp up, magic up -> use ga spell if you always get 2 ATB bar, or use ra spell for weakness elemental is fine too Cloud: 1st strike, strength up -> shortcut his triple slash, it help mini stun the mob while aerith cast ga spell 3rd party member: sysnergy cast linked with quake to help disrupt the mob or finish it off in case the ra spell not finish them all.
Hey man, try using yuffie with her whirlwind. No more going into the menu and selecting what skill. The pack with the chimera and sometimes frogs take 2 casts so chocoking cape is needed but it cuts down the time a bit just from using the action menu. Keep up the good work man!
But that way you're skipping a pack because you need to use it to reset the other packs... If you use the lowest AP pack to reset then maybe it's worthwhile, I haven't done the maths.
Oh and just a thing I tested out to help out…the choco armband gives you 3X AP on whatever you slot but if ya put the AP up plus whatever attached, the attached material gets 6X AP…much quicker for those really large materias
@TheTimmer1234 for sure, I just got to chapter 10, I don't think I've encountered him again since dueling him on QBs Do you know how to get the hp/mp swap he showed, also the swift casters?
@@josephturnage682 the hp/mp swap can be found once you get back on MT Nibel and the Swiftcast you have collect data points in chapter 13 I believe it is…didn’t want to spoil anything talking about when ya get them
You can press Triangle when you go into the pause menu to directly to the save, you don't need to move on the menu buttons. That will save you at least 3 more seconds 🙂
the ap per minute between the 18 ap and 21 ap mobs is like 100 (going from 21 mob to frogs is like 12+ seconds so too long compared to just save and load). so 6000 ap per hour. this is with lb mapped magnified fire/firaga and swiftcast
So two little things to improve the grind: 1. You don't have to go all the way around to get from the egg enemies to the frogs, there's a gap in the fence near the frogs so you can walk straight to where they are from the grass. 2. You're likely going to want to have Swiftcast linked to an AP Up Materia on the 3x AP armor, which makes it impossible to do the Blizzaga strategy quickly. What I recommend is using Yuffie's Windstorm move alongside the First Strike Materia, Chocoking's Cape, and either Magic Up or Strength Up (I'm not sure which stat Windstorm goes off of so I just have both equipped).
I do first strike with chocoking, two triple slashes is very fast, if you’re not doing enough damage that way throw auto unique ability on barret you’ll open with overcharge.
@@MK-fm3ln I just like Windstorm since it has a huge AOE radius so you don't really have to be precise. Plus it's literally instant with no animation. I clocked in 42 seconds a run doing it that way.
@@AnaverdGaiden that sounds real good. I dont aim with triple slash either but windstorm sounds great, I just never used it outside of the cactuar challenge so I didn’t know how strong or effective it was in actual combat, I’ll have to try it myself now
Very useful video. But try equipping Cloud with elemental linked with fire and ice. And use triple slash instead. On easy mode, you will just need a couple triple slashes to finished of the group. Way more efficient than casting blizzaga
While the bee method is faster if you haven't cleared the game yet and unlocked chapter select this is still good. A couple things I noticed. -Blizzaga is strong enough to kill everything so you can do the entire run with just Ice Materia. -MP Absobtion + Ice is better than HP ->MP Materia as there's less of a chance of Cloud getting knocked out (also HP->MP seems to also freak out if you alter Cloud's MP at all). It also let's you take advantage of Full-Power Magic on the Rune Blade. - You can run a direct beeline between the Grangalans and the other group and vice versa. There's holes in the fencing that you can run through.
Strictly speaking you could use MP absorb instead of hp/mp swap (usually a spell focused character set up can hit hard enough with a magnified spell to get the mp used back) and unique to cloud (his rune blade has stagger recovery) you could swap for petrify (lower damage, but higher stagger potential and impact area; though swiftcast is needed to cast those spells quickly) and watch everything rapidly stagger then petrify while stagger recovery handles mp management (made even easier by either setting a 3rd petrify paired with magic efficiency for reduced costs or mp absorb to add more mp recovery) you could even swap the chocoking cape for the boxbreaker keychain (essentially an equipable stagger recovery) and add an ATB boost materia to quickly hit 2 ATB for an '-aga' spell
My theory, my buddy wasnt comfortable doing the shortcut way while when you open the command menu time slows down im guessing once ur used to the pace it be shortcut time. Example: many times i had to look at my shortcut to make sure i dont press the wrong one ie: i shortcut all yuffie abilites with diff element ninjutsu
Another tip; if you don't have swiftcast, and peeps are having trouble with whoever's spellcasting getting immediately targeted and killed; let them get KO'd play out the battle and let them revive at the end with 1hp , don't heal them. Slap a provoke materia on someone else, and this should let your spellcaster nuke things unbothered from there on out since provoke will trigger at the very beginning of each fight.
Nice vid man , I just figure out , if you reload the fight , enemies also respawn so you don’t need to save/load every time , just restart the game from the option button when you arrive at the last enemies and every other enemies respawn
Thanks for the guide my man. Im done almost everything on my first run, just gearing up for my brutal/legendary VR missions, then on to the hard mode for platinum. Thanks for all the guides, its been a real treat. If you have any video ideas on those VR missions, it would be much appreciated!
@josephturnage682 I can't remember the HP to MP, but the swift cast is developed with chadley in the last area of the game, I won't spoil anything, but its in chapter 13
@@thecasualcanuck4590 I believe the HP > MP is another chadley developed one, just an earlier chapter, I forget which one though. And to note the swiftcast specifically needs you to complete all the protorelic intel in all chapters to unlock that area for anyone wondering.
Hey Primal I think I found a better grinding spot. Using the same materia set-up I've been farming the desert sahagin world Intel in Cosmo canyon. It's combat Intel 1, you fight 3 sahagin that can be killed with one magnified blizzaga and they drop 2,100 Gil (with Gil up materia) and 27 AP. The reason I think it's a bit better is that you can just instantly retry when you beat them. No save/load or zoning in or out, no walking to different targets. Just kill, hold triangle, repeat. Idk if there's a better ratio in one of the other combat trials, I basically just checked Nibel, gongaga, and CC. But I definitely recommend it over the current method you have here. It's faster, lazier, and better Gil
While Intel are fast, the reason people are farming in the overworld is every party member gets ap from the fight not just the 3 you take into a combat simulator
May have to try this while I wait for SE to fix the Can't Stop Won't Stop side quest bug. Figured while I'm stuck in Chapter 12, I might as well get ready for the harder stuff. Still not sure I wanna do all the mini games for platinum though. Some of them I just didn't care for at all
You can speed it a bit more by using the cast build on one of your party members. You press your cast from party button, i set with aerith on L2. Soon as you start fight you can cast but instead of waiting animation you can start walking to next target as its cast. Also petrify quake works for all 4 parties to one shot and has bigger aoe.
Have been following this but even better is on the 4th Battle just retry and then you don’t need to save or load the game and the enemies just populate again
The flip on time Materia doesn’t seem worth it. Can someone shed some light on that? Is that really the best way to get Gil? And why would we need a ton of Gil? Can I buy that home in costa del sol or what?
Gil doesn't really need grinded, most expensive things tend to be weapons if you missed them but even then I still had almost half a mil just doing main story and side quests
Imagine if you place time materia and each characters weapon slot except cloud whos using ice+ magnify and mp absorption ect, everyone else has 6 slots empty 6×6= 36 thats 360k of gil and then there the free armour slots, you could easily make 700k + by making mastered time materia and selling for.... idk 😂 unless you wanna get 99 of all items in the game?
yuffie’s windstorm would help group up the mobs to make sure you wont miss one. make her the party leader and equip her with first strike materia and elemental with ice materia. use shortcut button for windstorm then have cloud cast blizzaga/firaga. you can also equip another party member with synergy materia with ice if you’re lacking firepower.
wish you mentioned what you got to do to get the swift cast materia man that was a lot to do lol, have you done the video for the gill trick you said you were going to do in a few days its been 2 weeks hehe
@@AnaverdGaiden yea I know that's why I said it was a lot to do to get it , it wasn't just doing one you had to fight all 3 sets of two summons and then beat Gilgamesh as well
@@colinkester6531 Ahhh, gotchya, I misinterpreted what you said. Do you actually have to beat all of them? It only costs 5, so don't you just need to beat one?
I'm a little bit late but there is a quest in chapter 12 where you have to secure a cat and there's an queen bee there that keep on producing mob and you can level up all your materia in 2 hour even the blue et purple one so try it
Quality of life tip: To put Magnify for your Shortcut. Go to Combat Setting and Press L1 on the Spell that is attach to the Magnify materia. Learn this from Optinoob video.
Just triple slash or blizzaga chimera mimic and 2 gagighandi, save-load and repeat, no? Sure it's faster to travel distance to next pack which gives less AP?
You don't need to do the HPMP swap thing, I use an ATB boost at the start of a battle, place myself in the middle of a pack of fiends and use mind blast. Kaboom everything dies and you don't spend a single point of MP.
Hey man, thanks very much for the video! I've been watching your channel for years now, and I'm always impressed by the work you put in. I used this method to max out all my materia (enough for everyone to have any good combo equipped without switching non-limited stuff out) in preparation for hard mode, and it also got me a maxed out Swiftcast which has been invaluable for the Chadley VR challenges. Anyway, the reason for my comment, I also used the time to farm some AP for time materias to get a bunch of Gil. At 1.25 you mention a cool trick that you need a lot of Gil for, but I wasn't able to find a follow up on this - I may just be being blind, so sorry if so! But if not, are you able to let us know what the trick is? Thanks :)
@@kupigaming3440I did not see that, thanks for the info. For anyone looking for the setting, go to System > Options > Gameplay > Swap Guard & Command Shortcuts Button. It will swap the L1 and R1 functions so that L1 becomes guard and R1 becomes shortcuts.
You don't actually need to have HP/MP swap, just use Rune Blade with stagger recovery. Gets back all the mp he uses per, almost always guaranteed to stagger the enemies every cast
I might be wrobg but i'm wondering if hohjo's challenge might be even better since one of them has two ying yangs that five 30 (so 60 just by beating these two). Also si ce they are virtual challenges tout do not need to reload your save
Well every time I reload my game his mp lowers to 60 and then I save and it’s near 0 the second reload. The mp/hp swap doesn’t carry over through saves.
Pretty sure you can shortcut the spells, no? Would make it a lot faster than menu selecting. Might be able to put Auto-Cast on someone who isn't Cloud so you can keep running and they do the spell cast that kills. They should kill before you get Flee going. Auto-Weapon and only put Windstorm on for Yuffie could also work. Lastly, your last battle just immediately hit retry instead. It reloads the map in just a couple seconds so all the battles respawn. And then you do your loop again. So if you have 4 fights, on the 4th fight, hit retry, and fights 1-3 respawn. Kill your 4th fight, and loop around and retry on what was your 3rd fight, and rinse, repeat. I think this is the fastest method.
Found a good method thats close in speed but might be easier and faster for some. In the battle arena. The six person bouts: the uncouth, you fight 10 bugs worth 3ap each for first party but second party fights 10 bandits worth 6ap each so 60ap. On easy, both matches dont take much time and you can rechallenge right away, took me about 1m 20s per 60ap and some might be able to do them faster. Each party only gets ap from each battle so make sure ap boost and chocobo band are in the second party fighting the bandits. You also farm some gold saucer points while your at it.
Wondering have you considered repeating some of the world intel monster fights? The fiend intel 3 at Corel makes you fight 3 birds with a baseline of 18AP per round. You can kill it with fira-all in one sweep. No need to run around and save/load, just press triangle to respawn.
yea but the small delay between the start of the fight and the delay after the fight of having to wait until you can press triangle again adds up, some world intels are about equal to this method but atleast this has a little more vareity and so less tedious
@@Primalliquid92 ah okay, I personally preferred something braindead like your grassland intel 1 VR suggestion for early game. Since my PS5 and my PC are on the same desk I can just mindlessly press the same few buttons while watching videos/shows on the second monitor.😂
was patched so there was no point in uploading it, was absolutely bordering on exploit levels though you could essentially multiply the damage from gil tos so each hit would do about 7000-8000 damage to a none staggard boss
There's an even faster trick, and one you can do at the end of chapter 9. Once you're at the part where you can call Cid for the first time, stay in the Gongaga Region and go to the mark on your map that says "Phenomenon Intel 2: Dissident Destruction". Right before you enter the "building", there will be a mob of four monsters that will give a total of 33 AP. Using roughly the same setup as in this video, you can take care of them in two seconds. Climb up the little ledge that leads to the building (but don't go in the building) and step into the sunlight, save your game, and then load that file (you don't have to turn off your game, just load from the options menu). Once the game is loaded, turn back around, and the same mob should respawn there, granting you another easy 33 AP. Kill them again with the same trick, and do this process over and over again. Under normal setup, this trick got me nearly 200AP per minute, 1200 AP with AP Up on a Chocoband. In just four hours I maxed out ALL my materia with this trick, even the swiftcasting materia (which has 18000 ap requirement to master the last ⭐) Keep in mind, you need to step into the sunlight, far enough from the ledge, for the monsters to respawn when you reload the save file. If you're too close to the ledge, they won't respawn. Easy way to fix that is just step a little further away from the ledge, save again, load that save, then they should appear. No fast travel necessary. 😁
I am not getting the same AP per each group as him. Am I missing something? 🤔 For example the chimera should give 21ap according to the video but I am only getting 8AP 😅
taking a little bit longer to make the way i want it to be with formatting and the information, theres alot of detail to make the build work so its a little more complex than just a typical farming guide ect and im also trying to work on my individual hard mode guides and my next challenge
Can you break down your calculation of 80k per hour. It's a 60second run. maximum possible 98 materia slots. 75base AP per minute per materia. I do realize that sensational numbers are far more likely to get views, comments and likes, which is every youtuber's primary goal if it their primary sourc of income. but im not seeing 80k. time materia requires total 1200AP to master, which comes to 16 runs for 1 master. round it down to 15 minutes. Let's say of those 98 possible slots, 90 of them are time. swapping out 90 Materia takes a few minutes, so it's 20 minutes to master 1 and replace it.
I'm going to reiterate what many have said and add two more suggestions that should increase the AP rate gain to OVER 300K AP PER HOUR. First, bear in mind that the AP per each group is 18 (gangralan/egg thingies), 18 (frogs), 21 (chimera/gagighandi), 18 (grandhorn). The two closest groups are the last two. A lot of time is spent running from frogs to chimera. Here's how to make best use utilizing the "retry", minimizing running, and getting the 21 AP group every other time: 1) Make sure Tifa is in the party, but is not your blizzaga caster. I like her second so she starts on the right of the party leader (saves just under a second per battle). 2) As soon as you cast blizzaga on chimera group or fira on grandhorn group, immediately switch to Tifa and start dodging back toward the other group. You should cover 1/3 to 1/2 the distance before the spell animation finishes, especially if you don't have a maxed out Swiftcast. 3) As soon as the enemies die, the party leader will teleport to Tifa and you take control just a few steps from the next fight. 4) Initiate the battle, but immediately pause and retry. 5) This puts you one step away from starting the battle again. Repeat steps 2-4 6) If you notice your caster is getting hit while you are dodging with Tifa, put an HP absorb paired with ice or fire on your caster. It may take away two material slots, but with this method being 50% faster it should more than make up for that. I checked my AP: 351 per materia every 5 minutes = 4212 AP / hour. Using 12 slots per character and multiplying by only 6 characters (assuming a bunch of stuff on your caster is already maxed): 303,264 AP/hour ... or nearly 4 times what this video claims. FYI, that run was also without Swiftcast (I had that with a double AP on the triple AP armband). I was using blizzara on the larger group instead. If this is done with Swiftcast in place, it might be even faster.
Where do you get the swift cast materia? Also you said you do this in Chapter 12…however if I keep going with the story and go onto the Gold Saycer from Costa De Sol…won’t I lose Cait Sith???

Just came in the comment section to say the same thing. Otherwise, a good farming method.
I used the Fury Ring but yes this is the way.
Add Luck up x2 for overkill
Quick TLDR tips from all the comments:
-Set to Easy mode (not sure if having Hard mode adds extra AP) it makes it so you just have to stay on Fira only and can use HPMP. If you have Swiftcast use Firaga.
-Give Cloud as much Magic as you can
-Have Aerith or someone else have Synergy with Petrify materia linked (non elemental damage) small AoE damage if Fira doesn’t kill
-I find it easier to do the Gaghandi’s, Grandhorn then Grangalan and vice versa route.
@@chesteradams7423had this exact question, thanks for answering!
You don't need to use the HP=MP Materia
Equip cloud with the Runesaber and the Stagger Recovery ability and you'll always be topped off after a fight
This worked pretty good, but I was still losing some MP each battle. I added a MP absorb connected to ice materia and that solved it.
I use Aerith with mp absorb+Ice and cast blizzaga on everything and it does enough damage to get my mp back
I just did chocoking cape with first strike and doing two triple slashes was quick.
pro tip, use chocobo armband with ap up and youll get significantly more ap.
chocobo armband triples the ap of materia in that piece of equipment then put ap up on that for double ap
instead of saving and reloading, you can just start a fight, and hit start and choose retry battle, everything respawns
It's doesn't carry over any Gil if you do that method (restart battle) .. or any AP. Which is kinda the point to this farm 😂
@@travellersdemise7669 I mean do your cycle, but your last battle you should be able to just restart and keep everything from other battles
"This is the way"
I'm curious what this thing with the gil is gonna be
@@obijuancolombi what thing?
@@Aaron-qb7jr
Just tested out all the Fiend Intels that didn't have some gimmick that would make them take a while to kill. Came across 4 of them that gave 24 AP per run and one that gives 27.
The one that gives 27 is in Cosmo Canion, it's the Sahagins. I don't really recommend them, since they tend to get one hit in on Cloud which usually results in a double KO. XD
The one I would personally recommend is in the Grasslands, Fiend Intel 5: Picky Eater.
@@AnaverdGaiden 50 seconds per clear? That's really good. XD
It's also taking him more like 80 seconds instead of 30 seconds per run of 75 AP, putting it at around 3,400 AP/hr.
Bigger numbers drive views and clicks.
For those who not have swiftcast yet, switch the game diff to easy so we can use blizzardra , fira to farm
Aerith setup: accessory: chocoking cape, materia: HP MP , speed up, 1st strike, hp up, mp up, magic up -> use ga spell if you always get 2 ATB bar, or use ra spell for weakness elemental is fine too
Cloud: 1st strike, strength up -> shortcut his triple slash, it help mini stun the mob while aerith cast ga spell
3rd party member: sysnergy cast linked with quake to help disrupt the mob or finish it off in case the ra spell not finish them all.
Commenting on this so I won’t forget later
I did this in Easy without Swiftcast. Just have Cloud start with 2 ATB then Mind Blast from Enemy Skill
Hey man, try using yuffie with her whirlwind. No more going into the menu and selecting what skill. The pack with the chimera and sometimes frogs take 2 casts so chocoking cape is needed but it cuts down the time a bit just from using the action menu. Keep up the good work man!
Why not engage the last fight of the rotation then press start and restart the fight to make everything respawn? it's like 2 sec
hm thats actually pretty smart
But that way you're skipping a pack because you need to use it to reset the other packs... If you use the lowest AP pack to reset then maybe it's worthwhile, I haven't done the maths.
@@recreateinfinity it takes 1 sec to restart the fight. you can engage the enemy afterwards and just keep doing the restart on the last set of mobs

the ap per minute between the 18 ap and 21 ap mobs is like 100 (going from 21 mob to frogs is like 12+ seconds so too long compared to just save and load). so 6000 ap per hour. this is with lb mapped magnified fire/firaga and swiftcast
But for every single materia
@@marcelldavis8861 that’s just padding numbers. Peeps want the number of ap for a single materia per hour.
So two little things to improve the grind:
Windstorm is a magic attack. Only one of yuffies abilities that doesn't use magic is Art of War/Supreme Art of War.
I do first strike with chocoking, two triple slashes is very fast, if you’re not doing enough damage that way throw auto unique ability on barret you’ll open with overcharge.

Strictly speaking you could use MP absorb instead of hp/mp swap (usually a spell focused character set up can hit hard enough with a magnified spell to get the mp used back) and unique to cloud (his rune blade has stagger recovery) you could swap for petrify (lower damage, but higher stagger potential and impact area; though swiftcast is needed to cast those spells quickly) and watch everything rapidly stagger then petrify while stagger recovery handles mp management (made even easier by either setting a 3rd petrify paired with magic efficiency for reduced costs or mp absorb to add more mp recovery) you could even swap the chocoking cape for the boxbreaker keychain (essentially an equipable stagger recovery) and add an ATB boost materia to quickly hit 2 ATB for an '-aga' spell
why are you not setting the spells to a shortcut? that should safe some time too
Magnify doesn’t work with that method
@@PunisherO61875 sure does. You can hit L1 in the combat settings to make the shortcut use it.

Another tip; if you don't have swiftcast, and peeps are having trouble with whoever's spellcasting getting immediately targeted and killed; let them get KO'd play out the battle and let them revive at the end with 1hp , don't heal them.

You can speed it a bit more by using the cast build on one of your party members. You press your cast from party button, i set with aerith on L2. Poison + petrify w/ magnify. Petrify w/ magic focus. Petrify w/ swiftcast. Tier 2 also one shots, 3 has bigger aoe though

Are we still saving Gil for a surprise battle method?
You can go to the coliseum and pick the 2nd 2 partner battle and with the right setup get 132k/hr....
I just use APB boost and make a combat shortcut to mindblast and it usually takes out all the enemies instantly.
How do you get the Materia window to show all your champs.
Touch pad on materia & equip screen
Only the 3 people in the fight earn AP though
When comes your video with explaining what that massive gil farming is for?
was patched so there was no point in uploading it, was absolutely bordering on exploit levels though you could essentially multiply the damage from gil tos so each hit would do about 7000-8000 damage to a none staggard boss
In just four hours I maxed out ALL my materia with this trick, even the swiftcasting materia (which has 18000 ap requirement to master the last ⭐)
Keep in mind, you need to step into the sunlight, far enough from the ledge, for the monsters to respawn when you reload the save file. If you're too close to the ledge, they won't respawn. Easy way to fix that is just step a little further away from the ledge, save again, load that save, then they should appear. No fast travel necessary. 😁
I am not getting the same AP per each group as him. Am I missing something? 🤔
For example the chimera should give 21ap according to the video but I am only getting 8AP 😅
You mentioned a video about all the Gil in a few days. Are we going to get to see that?
taking a little bit longer to make the way i want it to be with formatting and the information, theres alot of detail to make the build work so its a little more complex than just a typical farming guide ect and im also trying to work on my individual hard mode guides and my next challenge
If you press retry battle on your last set, you can reset everything quicker!
Instead of saving/loading press retry for the last pack and everything will respawn
I love Final Fantasy Reberf! Can’t believe this meffod is better than the forty-four fousand version!
What was the trick you need this Gil for
Can you break down your calculation of 80k per hour.
Here's how to make best use utilizing the "retry", minimizing running, and getting the 21 AP group every other time:
1) Make sure Tifa is in the party, but is not your blizzaga caster.
Repeat steps 2-4
6) If you notice your caster is getting hit while you are dodging with Tifa, put an HP absorb paired with ice or fire on your caster.
I, confused how you’re getting 2 full ATBs at the start so you can cast blizzaga?
Chocoking's Cape + First Strike Materia
What armors are you using on the sub characters?
Whatever has the most materia slots. The stats don't matter for anyone not in the active party.
Where do you get the swift cast materia? Also you said you do this in Chapter 12…however if I keep going with the story and go onto the Gold Saycer from Costa De Sol…won’t I lose Cait Sith???
You get swift cast after defeating gilgamesh island
Should you do this on hard mode ?
Thank you for this.
Did they fix the gilgamesh island? I got all upgraded summons and all protorelic intels, i got gilgamesh island my first play through, decided to do it my second play through instead. Went into chapter 13 in chapter select and gilgamesh island isnt popping up for me. Some please help me! This is really sad and disappointing and might just quit the game and never come back because this is ridiculous
You can assign Blizzaga and Fira to a shortcut. It will be a notch faster!
Can anyone explain to me how or why this is better or faster than farming unlimited worker bees in the chapter 12 quest?
its not, bee method came out later
Why are you farming GIl? Can I know the reason?
Im in chapter 8 right now and I don't even know where I should need to spend (or farm) Gil aside from some lacking materials and some sale Hi potion or Ether.
Probably going to abuse the Spare Change materia, you use Gil to do damage...more Gil, more damage
@@wreckronomic6663 The Spare Change materia deals its damage over 5+ seconds, during which your character is animation locked. It's actually worthless.
Ahh, I never used it, I just assumed that was what Primal was working on@@driumissimo
How much gil do I need for whatever he is hinting at in the video? I have 209K right now at the end of Chapter 12 NG.
There's a spare change materia. You'll have no need for that money in NG+, so you can throw it at the toughest boss fights and...make them less annoying.
@@Angelalex242 Interesting, I'll have to try it out to see what kind of damage it does.
I used this method but im trying to get thr most ap i can to max my magic focus and swift cast. I use quake second level, at the same time arcane ward is cast. Followed with Yuffie having fire magnify fire MP absorb. Yuffie and Cloud having first strike aerith having chocoboking cloak.
I almost jumped the gun a little bit. still had it on hard mode, after swapping for the required materia and then spending all the gil i had on time materia and filling in some other materia that needs maxing, i started the circle. Completely obvlious to the difficulty setting and on top of that, I forgot to rest. I'm like.. it's supposed to be 6k mp not 60. That was interesting.
Nice video almost done with, 1st playthrough definitely gonna follow this🏆
You can retry battle and all the enemies spawn back without saving
Im not sure what im doing wrong but when i cast the blizzaga it doesnt kill all the mobs even though it hits them all. Is there a trick to this?
I think I did the same thing as you and was doing it on hard mode.
@@Pieface12345 yep it was that, all materia maxed now
How did u get so much Time materia?
What’s the best method for a specified materia and not like 30
Late response but if you want to pump one materia with AP, equip it on a Chocobo Armband (3x AP) combined with an AP Boost materia (2x AP).
@@CidGuerreiro1234 I’ll be coming back to the game after they fix the side quest issue
@@YimaRoll they patched it like nearly two weeks ago. Its obtainable now and you can complete the whole quest
Nice farm . But my MP are reseting from 6000 to almost zero every 3rd run. Any Idea ?
Similar thing happened to me too. I think when Cloud levels up the game gets weird and resets his mp down to what it should be without the HPswapMP materia
MP resets if you swap out any materia from Cloud that affects his HP/MP stats.
Where did you get all the Time materias???
I wondered this myself, and why. The why is you can buy 1 Time materia for 5k, level it to full, sell it for 10K. (This is more for others, not you directly.) To actually answer your question, you can buy all the Time Materia you want at the Cosmo Canyon Materia vendor.
how is it possible that you get 18AP at the first enemies? i only get 6AP, i have the same build.
is it because i havent finished the game once?
Same question here
i've found out that you really have to complete the game once to get triple the points.
they should have added a materia that swaps exp/gil for ap
Do members not in 3 man party also get AP?
Yes, as long as they're not away for story reasons. Simulator fights also only give AP/EXP to the ones in the fight.
How are you getting so much AP per a kill?
I'm getting about 1/4 of that.
Where do I find the swiftcast materia? Everything I find says chadley in the meridian ocean but I can't find him in that region.
chadlkey
@jagermeister1487 that part I know, where is he? Every other location I visit him at he doesn't have the swiftcast. I can't find him innthe meridian ocean area. Does he only become available after certain conditions?
@@chadbergeron856 you need to complete all the protorelic quests. Once that's done you can buy it from him.
Well u get swiftcast by chadley in the meridian ocean
Spoiler:
(U need to do all protorelic quests and beat the corresponding bosses/the secret boss to unlock chadley standing besides the arena where u can get swiftcast frol him per materia development) so definetly a very lste game ap farm
@@samweber4407 thank you, exactly what I needed.
Where can I go to sell all of these mastered time material?
what do you need gil for? I have 175k and nothing to buy? in ch 11 right now
you don't, and this farm is inefficient anyway
Probably for Spare Change
@@maybayV2 spare change is worthless; it does its damage over 10 seconds and leaves your character fully vulnerable during that time, it's unusable in hard content, and does low damage compared to other options for easy content
@@もり見積 Never said it wasn't.
@@もり見積 What is your ap farm then?
there are holes in the fence, so you can shave off a few seconds when you go from the first group that was killed in the video to the second one (or vice versa) also i think running with chocobo will help - how many gil do you think should we have for the method, and for what will it be useful? you got my curiosity edit: a gil up materia is also potentially worth sacrificing a single slot, for double the gil gains, if i had to guess, i will go for it at least
This bug appears to have been FIXED in the recent patch...
Having said that, if you equip the Passive weapon skills "Stagger Recovery" & "Trade Off" you regain HP and MP after Battle
With HPMP Swap equipped I've been getting 1,000 - 1,500 MP Back after Every battle even when instantly killing the enemies and taking no damage.
If you're adept at perfect blocking and or avoiding damage this will basically give you infinite MP. Could make for some very niche builds.
Definitely an issue here, sometimes it saves current MP, Other times it resets it as if I removed and re-equipped the HPMP Swap Materia.
Don't have an infinite supply of Turbo Ethers or Elixers to keep restoring MP so it completely Breaks this farming method....
Ok got the HPMP Swap Materia equiped, However Saving and Reloading is resetting my MP to 57 out of over 5000.
So I have to goto a rest stop to refil MP after every round. how did you get around this?
i got this bug 1 time after ~10 save/load time, i just take off the HP MP and equipped it again, also i use it for aerith not cloud
@@NhanNguyen-ex9hy The Bug is not caused by saving & reloading. It happens intermittently when swapping out completed materias on any character.
Need to find somewhere where I can buy elixers or turbo ethers to refill 5k+ MP....
@@benjaminsisko4519 actually it rarely happens if the materia of aerith not getting modify. I can make a run for 30-45 time materia without the bug. Just max character lvl and high AP materia after some grinding, good luck :D
@@benjaminsisko4519 You could also just pair an MP absorb to an ice materia for a single fight and get close to 1000 MP refilled from a single blizzaga cast... Or even just fast travel to a chocobo stop and rest there to refill your MP.
@@mimcduffee86 MP Absorb gives upto 0.3% of Damage Dealt, so if you deal 9,999 damage you will get back 30 MP
So unless you can consistantly hit MAX Damage you will only get back 50 to 60% of the MP spent. Could still be useful in some fights.
Really? didn't know that.... That will be very useful on hard mode....
I know that the characters not in the party raise levels alongside you but does the materia also level up too?
Yes

Thank you very much
How is cloud starting with 2 ATBs?
