Located in the Scottish Highlands, near the village of Dornie, Eilean Donan is one of the most photographed castles in Scotland, and it's easy to see why!
Steeped in history and romance, Eilean Donan castle is located on a tiny island overlooking the Isle of Skye where 3 great sea-lochs meet. Accessible by a narrow footbridge, the 13th century castle is a breathtaking site to behold!
There is a gift shop/cafe on site and for a small entry fee you can cross the bridge and enter inside the castle which is now a stately family home preserving the castle's history, artefacts and fine art.
Nearby places of interest include Skye, Plockton, Glen Shiel and the Kintail mountain trails.

@@walkingthroughscotland I'm hoping to get there soon and have to find somewhere to stay overnight, hotel. guesthouse or something. I don't drive so it's quite a trek using trains, probably have to get 3 trains from Newcastle. Never mind, I'll get there for sure. PS, the bit where youre walking over the bridge with the castle dead ahead is spectacular, my fav bit, i've watched it over and over.
