Try climbing cow hill directly behind the swimming pool great walk once your up there you will come across wild highland cows they are wild absolutely brill walk
Thanks for this virtual tour of Fort William. It brought back some great memories of visiting that great city and area of Scotland. We have stayed at a couple of the hotels and they were really fine, but our favourite accommodation was the Myrtle Bank B&B it looks on to Loch Linnie. Within walking distance of the high street heading towards Oban. I love visiting the Fort William area. Thanks again for the share. It was brilliant.
I love Scotland. I travel from Yorkshire and my first stop is Fort William to fill up with fuel and food at Morisons. The pubs do great meals, staff are great.
At last a vlog that takes us through slowly and shows us properly what shops restaurants are available and where👍 instead of quick scan and a view rubbish clips were we're none the wiser.appreciated👍
Been 3 times twice after walking the west Highland way brought a I walked the west highland way tee shirt , recommend the walk to anyone I did it 70 years old , what an experience
I've visited fort william a few times and stayed at the Travelodge which was really nice. The highland museum was great, lots to see, far more than what I expected. Chicago heights is a great place for food and desserts with Al Capone and the owner is such a lovely man , I would recomend the Geographer for food too. I would also recommend the Crannog boat cruise they take you to see the seals and the salmon farm and you can get great views of Ben Nevis. The Nevis range is great too, especially if you get a gondola up a mountain, for some fantastic views.
My dad was born here:D Told me it's not a place kids grow up in lol and even got confused when a new place showed up in the place of an old shop he loved
Thank you for this video. I'm planning to visit Fort William next year for my birthday and will be staying at the Travelodge so to see where and how far various places are from there is a real help. Cannot wait to visit this lovely little town
A picturesque town and with the lovely Ben Nevis. I was there during summer 2018 train up from Euston Station London by Caledonia Rail and camped 2 nights at Ben Nevis Campsite before I start my solo cycling trip of Skye & NC500 route. It was also a nice route from here to Mallaig where I took ferry to Skye after a night there. Mallaig is also a smal beautiful port town. Scotland is awfully beautiful especially on the outskirts or small towns like Fort Williams. I also bought some apparels from Sports Direct outlet there. Look forward to return again in near future once the pandemic is over and borders are open. Scottish are friendly and helpful and it is one of the best place to visit indeed. Thanks again for your lovely video and information.
Cracking wee vid mate could tell you loads about Fortwilliam the train station used to be next to weatherspoons the high street is well fake the proper high street is so many feet below loads of history about Fortwilliam nice wee walk to try Steele falls look forward to seeing more of your posts mate brill aidy fae killie
This summer just gone we travelled scotland for 7 months. Over the last two year I've ran up and down Ben nevis 6 and love Fort William. Spent a month at Ullapool up the West Coast and slept at nock and cragg for the views and the stag's nowt there but fantastic views. Can't wait to get back this summer, thanks for the vid.
If you had looked down and to your left, at about 17:00, you would have seen the entrance of the pedestrian underpass to the the travel center and Morrisons. Quite handy for avoiding traffic.
Nice video. In 2019 we had a three generation family trip to Scotland and spent a day in fort William. One son and girlfriend did the Ben Nevis walk whilst the rest of us had lunch in the lovely seafood restaurant by the loch. I would highly recommend it. The Highland Bookstore is fantastic. It’s got everything. I picked up a Val Macdermid amongst other books. Great staff too. I can’t remember if the bookstore had a cat; if it doesn’t, it should get one.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Many thanks Kevin - such a helpful tour! I will be staying in Fort Augustus and clearly this will be my closest shopping centre. I am looking forward to joining your virtual tour of Edinburgh - my home town :)
Hello there from Oz. Thank you for informative video and for taking the time to point out the various shops, restaurants etc at an even pace so we can take it all in. Now that life is starting to return to normal I shall once again take my usual annual holiday to the the UK for two months. The majority of time is spent in Scotland for it my favourite place and I have had this "urge to return" since my first visit way back in 1973. So I will look forward to your video with great delight and add to my "to do" list for my next adventure next year. Take Care, keep smiling and stay safe.
Hi, yes, I visited Fort William several years ago. Travelled up on the sleeper and spent a night at a very good B&B just up the road from the High Street. Lovely town. Incidentally, I followed the football team for some years urging them on to get some success but sadly they succumbed and were relegated. Found the people very friendly.
I was in Fort William for a week in 2015, to see the places where my Cameron ancestors lived. My mum was a proud Cameron. I fell in love with Scotland in general. The places and the people ❤While I was there, I also visited Glasgow and Edinburgh. The places and the people ❤In Fort William I stayed at The Seafield House B&B. Lovely stay.
St Andrews Episcopal Chuurch was only closed due to Covid but is now open when the priest is available. Sunday Service is 10.45. It is worth visiting for its mosaics, wood carvings and painting, Its hehritage is the Jacobites and a history can be found inside the church
Some years ago visited Fort William with a coach party. Stayed at the Croit Anna Hotel which had a lovely panoramic window in the dining room and an amazing view. Didn't go up Ben Nevis because I don't like heights. Waited in the cafe downstairs while others in the group went up. Very enjoyable holiday.
We stopped in Fort William on the way back from Skye to Glasgow. I loved this place. We found a great health food restaurant with delicious vegan treats.
A couple of years ago for a three day break my Wife and I took the overnight sleeper up to Fort William and it poured with rain with high winds and rain for the three days. A walk up the High Street was how shall I say, an experience! It was a relief to get the overnight sleeper back to London. I must say however all we met were very nice people, as there was no sign of SNP nastiness!
Thanks for this. I haven't been to Fort William since 2002. I made a stop off on my way to Skye (have you done a video of Portree?). I hadlunch in the Ben Nevis restaurant and bar I think. It was lovely. Have a great day!
I scaffolded the big hotel just as you come into fort William on the right hand side never forget it middle of winter it was snowing that hard you could see the water or the hills 1985
Take a ride round Loch Leven and picnic near the island... stunning. Worth the drive up...we travelled up from Wakefield and stayed over In Carlisle on the way .
Could you make a series of videos on the scottish islands, one on the shetland islamds, one on the orkney islands, one on the inner hebrides and one on the outer hebrides ?
Tbh at first I was sceptical as I've been to Fort William many times and always found it extremely disappointing, especially given it's magnificent surroundings. However you have shown that there is a bit more to it than I gave it credit for. You have a good manner about how you present your videos so well done Kevin! But just in case people take you literally, the cable car doesn't go up Ben Nevis, it goes up Aonach Mor which is part of the Nevis Range.
As a rep I called the Morrison store and Tesco Metro monthly coming down from Inverness on my way to home to Lanarkshire and did that for 10 years so know it well.
Whoever decided to open a Travel lodge between Wetherspoons & the Black isle bar - didn't have many brain cells! - Not getting much sleep there are you?

Loved being at Fort William for a day prior to walking to Inverness on the Great Glen Way.

In fact the sign for town centre is translated into English.
