The hops do , ive found tend to sulk for a couple of weeks(4) after transplanting. The hops i trans planted a month ago are going nuts(*cascade)in their new pots. So i expect the fuggles to lagg for a few weeks in the barrel. But we will see. Cheers mate. And well done with your extended lock down, you guys are really nailing it ,so thanks.
Awesome Sharee, they are doing really well. I put about 2 inches of 16 mm shingle chip in the bottom for drainage. Plan on giving them an oiling around the outside once the hops have died back after this spring. Cheers enjoy.😎👍

I over wintered all my chillis and they are now pruned and in the sun, but I still get frosts, so just a little worried for another month. Have Jalapeno seeds germinating under a grow light at the moment and I hope to have at least a dozen growing eventually, so I can dehydrate them at harvest. All the best mate. Daz.
I think deburring holes in the bottom of a planter is taking pride in your work just a little too far 🤣. Linseed oil is great for wood preserving, I tend to use boiled linseed as it has a quicker drying time but it does cost a little more. Hahaha yeah lol. You did well with that first season of hops. Check out Stoneys pot size. His do well and his pots are probably twice the size of yours and half the size of mine if you know what I mean. Transplant about ba month before spring. Cheers Mate 😎👍

I had a great crop of Fuggles but the cascade not so good because of a drainage issue I had. I fixed that a couple of months ago and they are sprouting very well. I will be transplanting the fuggles on Friday hope fully, i have a guy coming around to give me a hand. Yes Im very happy with the barrels. Cheers Don.
Hi, nice looking barrels. I bought 2half barrel for planter but my husband stack them on each other on the way back. And now we couldn’t take them off each other😅. Do you have any suggestions? They are too heavy to lift up and the wood and the metals just stick loke magnet 😢Thank you
Hello and thanks for the question. I can see how that could easily happen. First make sure the barrels dont get any water on them like outside in the rain because that will make them tighter. Tip them together upside down. Then try and put bricks or something around the top barrel underneath so both barrels are off the ground. Make sure they are in a dry place. The barrels should expand and the bottom barrel fall out onto the floor. I may take a week. If it doesnt fall out it may loosen it enough. Be sure to keep them dry. Another thing you could do is tip the barrels on their side, and drill a hole in the bottom about 40 mm and put a steel bar through to meet the top barrel and try hitting the bar with a mallet to push the barrels apart. I hope this makes sense. Good luck ,thats all i can think of a the moment. Please let me know how you get on with it and don't worry . Cheers

Great comment mate. So, my research told me that boiled linseed oil has a much shorter drying time. And that's what you want with decks and furniture and it works very well. I chose raw oil because it protects the wood better in harsher situations like barrels filled with soil and compost etc. From my research you've done right using boiled oil for your outdoor furniture etc How does it look, I bet it looks real nice. That's a good question. And sorry for the late reply. If you take your time and put plenty of oil around the inside, I think it should be good. And every 2 t 3 years empty out you soil and wash out and oil again. Like everything , maintenance is key. Good luck and look after your barrels. Cheers mate.😎👍
Ok thanks for coming over. So my advice is to talk to SjSupport on the phone. They will advise you what to do. It's different in the U.S. but the fact remains that you have just gone through a very traumatic life changing illness from being given a subscribed medication. It's very rare and they know about it so you need to let them know. And I think that talking to SjSupport is your best starting point ok. Your going to need help because your body has gone through a massive event.
Also I will add that you may be going through some mental issues because of the stress SJS put on your body. I have ongoing anxiety and panic attacks disorders. Watch that ,you may need to talk to your doctor to manage that if it's an issue.
Who's at fault, ? Well not you. It's not your fault. They know that an extreme minority like one in a million are gonna suffer, die, be blinded, deaf, loose their jobs etc . They know about it. But talk to SJSUPPORT they will help you, that's what they do. Very keen to know how you go mate. Cheers
That a very good question Lorna. My plan is to oil the outside twice a year and to replace the soil every 2 years and oil the inside with 2 or 3 coats then. The oil does a good job of protecting the wood but needs to be maintained. Since I made this video the exterior of the pots look great. I can't remember why I decided not to line the inside with a poly liner. If you decide you want to line your pots , I would still oil the inside. Cheers😎👍

Boiled linseed oil is poisonous. So don't use for vegetable container gardening. Raw is better.

It pays to Google around your area. Often sold at garden centres etc. I bought mine sold in half barrel. Good luck. Cheers
