One thing Id add is to treat the base of the wine barrel for termites if you are in an area where termites are an issue. My wine barrel planter got eaten out in a few years by termites - obviously love French oak! There are commercially available termite sprays (eg David Grays Ant and Termite Spray - get from Bunnings). If you dont want to spray the barrel wood, you could rest the barrel on a timber base and just spray that.
Thanks for sharing. 6 months later- it’s not too late to put it in the middle of the pot. Still looks like it might dent that shed or give you a problem later.
Could try and use some soap to act as a lubricant between the two barrels. Or drill a big enough hole in the bottom to use a crow bar to knock the out? Hope that helps mate
@@thegreenandgoldlife1464 thank you i will try and let you know. They have been out in the rain for months 🤣i hope i can restore them and not wasting 2beautiful barrel planters🙏🏻
When did you record this vid mate? Don't think we've had rain in Adelaide for nearly two weeks...was some black clouds over the hills on Monday. Tried to get my missus to root over a rock, wouldn't have a bar of it👍
Dan, I've got a garden shed that needs the west facing wall covered, gets filthy hot in there, do you think a climbing Rose would survive the dry heat of a January Sun, and great vid mate.
Ooff. Prob be ok. The missus had tomatoes on the west shed of that same shed and they coped. If ya keep the water up and when it covers the shed should be ok.
@@thegreenandgoldlife1464 Yeah, I’m pretty ignorant about parts of the world but would like to visit Australia, sounds like a great place to live. Prepping my wine barrels today, thanks for the info.

i picked up one with a rotted out base, might have to put it on a gravel base, or screw in some wire mesh and put in a coir liner.
First Aussie 😁. Remember, Happy Wife , Happy Life . Consulting your wife was a good move. Another great video mate. 😎👍👍
