My father just gave my 13 year old son a 86' GT convertible, black on black with burgundy interior. Ironically my Dad and I built a 65' as my first car. I'm looking forward to the project. I like the options for LED lights in and outside. We plan to re-paint it and powder coat the wheels, replace mufflers with resonators, and upgrade the stereo. Mostly cosmedic and detail stuff. I look forward to the LED headlight video as all the LED lights I know of are not made for the stock reflective housings and you end up blinding oncoming traffic. I had an 86 GT years ago. Fast forward 22 years, and I bought another ‘86, however it had been converted to an aero nose (I didn’t do it). Every time I watch your videos, I sure wish I had my true 4 eye back. Very nice, super sharp looking car Mike!! Getting better with every video! Keep up the good work!
Looks really good. I’ve been through multiple leds. Either they’re too bright or not bright enough. Too big too small whatever. Test and tune. Lol looks good man. Very informative.
Thank you Sam! Your correct. Ive learned that the bright indicated LED was way too bright. Headlights have too soft of a spread, etc...otherwise most LED addtions have been great.
You have really made that car shine! Just be careful going too much further with the LED lights.. I did my 89 and started changing every bulb, changed flasher relays.. then started having all kinds of gremlins with the tail lights. They would work then quit working. Turn on the turn signal, whole gauge cluster starts flashing also.. I put the tail lights back to regular bulbs and issues went away.
Hey man, dont forget the hard top guys! The map light bulb is amazing, it turns it into a ridiculous flashlight! I believe it's the same bulb as the glove box
@@HOUSEOFDULA bummer man! They're actually an easy fix, the base plate connections get loose and people just toss them, they are helpful when heater core replacing lol
@@bulfragg The plastic was so brittle it was pretty bad. That and I wanted a smoother look with out it. I can see though being able to point it towards the core when replacing! All the light the better lol

I was blessed enough to meet the JDM guys at a show out here and they convinced me. I did the exterior lights and will do the interior this winter but the difference is amazing. I think my marker lights put out more light than my headlights did. I installed those amber leds on the front corner lights of my 86 a couple weeks ago. They are so bright in person, I worry that it is blinding to other drivers....not oncoming traffic, but people beside me in traffic.
I always like the red dash light on the fox body stangs 👍👍👍☹️👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍I would change my 92 f 150 to red red dash LEDs any suggestions 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔thanks for any ideas
I think these are green from the factory. These gauges have a green color film on the overlays, you might need to change the overlay to white, and use red LED bulbs. I had a 95 F350, but never converted the lights in them. My suggestion would be to call JDM up and ask for their input. Thanks for compliment!
Great video! Can I do a little LED at a time or does it need to be done all at once? Like if I do my front turns and markers, do I have to do the rears at the same time?

Welcom fellow Texan. The headlights we're by the pair. Some are sold in pairs and some singles...they even have 10+ packs of the little white LEDs. I think it just depends, the website will show quantity. Full kit though, no, I pieced this together with what I wanted and fit the car.
Thanks man! Its custom color from what I understand. My painter said it was close to deep impact, but a little darker like twilight blue. I wish I knew! I bought it this color and had a local painter color match the hood. He did a fantastic job.

I plan on putting LED lights in the instrument cluster panel while also doing the HVAC unit which will take a total of 7 red LEDS. Were you able to convert the one incandescent light to red on the HVAC? I know the white light they sent you did not fit. I am looking to also convert the side marker lights to the amber LED. Wasn't sure if the turn signal lights in the front and behind the car would also be able to use the amber LED's. Finally in the tail light assembly would you recommend using the red LED's that you used in the instrument panel for the tail lights or continue using the white light? Looking forward to your reply!
Love the car. But i have a 1983 mustang and i have a broken side marker and blinker casing. I was wondering if you knew how to change out the casing for the blinker. I cant find anything about it.
After watching your first LED video, I purchase a dome light for my hatchback. Unfortunately, the hatchback takes a different dome light than all other models, but JDM Astar's web site doesn't account for the hatchback and points you to the same bulb you used. Other parts houses do the same thing. It's been about two weeks and JDM Astar hasn't even responded to my ticket, so I bought some bulbs on Amazon :(

I know those part house and JDM uses a database for the make models etc...ive always pulled the bulb and looked at the part on it. Im suprised hatch vs notch has a different dome light bulb. The glass 4x6 housings I got from Amazon. Not certain this exact setup is still available anymore, but plenty of other like it. Seatch Ebay even for 4x6 glass headlight housings, these take an H4 bulb so you can pretty much put whatever you want on them. Noted. Yeah polarity with turn signal relays and needing resisters can start to get weird i imagine

Its bright but all these just look better in person IMO. The side markers actually put an amber glow on the street.

That dome light would make a great 3rd brake light i believe those are 921 bulbs mine is but mines a 87 should be the same just need 2 lights
Yes it would. Have not yet tackled the brakes and front parking / turns, hopefully thats next to finalize the LED conversions.

No. They are different. It will fit, if you change the whole nose to an 89.
