The year was 1981 ~ early MTV ~ this was one of the first videos I remember watching ~ it was in heavy rotation on a daily basis ~ everyday I'd come home from high school around 3:45 pm and turn on the TV and Voila' ~ there would be Aldo Nova in all his glory in that leopard print suit making quite an entrance with his laser shooting guitar ~ love this video!!
Bryan Bell ~ Music has always been an escape for me ~ music has soothed my soul when times have been difficult and when I'm feeling ecstatic, it just intensifies those emotions ~ it all depends on your mood and the songs that resonate with them. : )
Bryan Bell ~ Thanks ~ I do love music!! I have worked on building my playlists for several years and Yes, music works wonders on stress!! Take care as well b2!!
82sweetheart I always thought this video was from 1981... the debut year of MTV, and the music video(Buggles, Video killed the Radio Star). I was in junior high school, 7th grade, and used to see this video, along with Adam and the Ants, Genesis, Loverboy, Journey, Rolling Stones, Judas Priest, etc. Like, I thought, this video was from 1981... but WHY is there a 1982 Pontiac J2000(Sunbird) in the video?? The 1st year for the GM, fwd J-cars was 1982(Chevy Cavalier, Pontiac J2000, Olds Firenza, Buick Skyhawk and Cadillac Cimarron), and it shows the pimp and the hookers, sitting on top of and next to a 1982 Pontiac J2000. Unless, it was an early 1981 production model, and Pontiac just wanted to show it in a video, to the young impressionable teen viewers, who were getting their licenses at the time. Who knows? lol
I AGREE WITH YOU, THE 1980s & MAYBE A BIT OF THE EARLY 90s WAS A TIME WHERE WE WERE ALL GIFTED WITH A LOT OF FREAKING AWESOME BANDS, & A SHITLOAD OF GREAT FREAKING MUSIC.. WITHOUT A DOUBT, THE 80s BLEW AWAY MOST OTHER ERAs OF MUSIC. I'M DEFINITELY NOT SAYING ALL OTHER TIMES SUCKED, CAUSE NEVER SAID THAT, NOR IMPLIED IT, CAUSE "IMO", THE LATE 70s & 90s, Even some of the Early 2000s Were FULL of Some Unique, & STRONG MUSIC. BUT, THE 80s DEFINITELY PUT IT'S MARK ON THE ROCK~N~ROLL, HEAVY METAL ERA, NO DOUBT.
A hugely groundbreaking song. People don't realize/appreciate that in actual fact this is one of the handful of songs that really sparked MTV into life.
@@808burners8 I would actually say "You got another thing coming" where the guy's head blows off on the stairs of, like, a big oil reservoir, or whatever that was!! I don't so much remember the Breakin the Law video. But...that's just me...to each his own 🙂
my first concert was vanilla ice in 92 :( to be fair though you got one free ticket with the purchase of a large pizza from pizza delight and my aunt Barb managed a local pizza delight and got us all tickets, I was only 10 at the time, Aunt Barb really came through for the squad, she hooked it up in a big way.
My first concert was when I was 13! And yes I do remember who it was, Foreigner and Joe Walsh. Saw journey at 16 which was my 5th.. always missed Aldo Nova unfortunately, would've loved to see that show! ❤️ Love the 80s graduated in '87..
Although I'm a Gen-Xer and like a lot of 80s music, I don't feel like, in comparison to the music of the 60's and 70's, that 80's music as a whole, "BETTER". Yeah, we had the hair metal bands like Bon Jovi and Motley Crue, and the obviously killer stuff...the Psychedelic Furs, Billy Idol, Dio, Bauhaus, Cindy Lauper (lol I like a WIDE variety of genres) and some decent "punk"; but with MTV taking the world by storm in 80-81, it suddenly became a LOT more about "The look" than ever before. And although it's always been a part of the mudic biz, the whole attitude of fashion over talent really started becoming the monster it is today.
im not from the 80s, i was born in 2003 but I love this era of music, class, fashion all of it. Me and my dad always watch 80s movies and listen to the songs together, we love it.!!!Such a great time of relism
The guitar player (Kevin Carlson) was a friend from high school. We were in our first band together ('73- '74). Very talented musician and a really nice cat. His brother, Rich, is still playing and a great drummer. Sadly, Kevin passed away a few years ago from a brain tumor. And I'm still playing. Sometimes the universe doesn't make any sense at all.
Sorry to hear of the passing of your long time friend and amazing guitarist, Kevin. I'm sure you know how blessed you were to have had him in your life. Blessings and peace to you.
Guys don't be mean.. Reccomend me more, good artists like this guy, where you can totally feel the magic and energy. Give me song names, bands etc.. Try not to give me overly popular bands like bon jovi, kiss, Europe, poison, motley crüe, guns n roses, etc. Ya get my point. I mean, I didn't know this song until about 2 months ago, if it wasn't for an excellent rocker friend. Otherwise, I really don't know where else to look for good artists from the golden era of music. Thanks for your attention.

Right on brother! While you was mopping up I was over at Winn Dixie stocking shelves with a good weed buzz and this song cranking through out the whole store! Life was so fun back then....I miss those days....

I was born in the early 80’s, but I still remember feeling like that that time was so much more gritty and REAL than today… it almost seems as if life has become less and less real over the years… I’d love to be able to go back even if only for a day.
Thank you God! After 44 years of life this is the FIRST time I am hearing and SEEING this music video.. frickin MASTERPIECE.. will be checking out their other stuff
The new generation just cannot even imagine the great music we had in the 70’s and 80’s !!!it was almost like a dream!!! And damn !!we would rock out all night!!today’s so-called music cannot even compete!!!!long live rock!!!
I liked it better when it was called "Jane" by Jefferson Starship. Course Starship basically reworked "Hold The Line" by Toto for that cut. And if you go forward from "Fantasy" you have "Runaway" by Bon Jovi and "Fool's Game" by Michael Bolton. So, this chord progression did have a long run of success.

@@TheMom2three I agree totally on everything you said. I went to the Connecticut men’s club in 1988 and got out in 1999. When I watched MTV again the whole channel was like BET. No offense to anyone but it’s like mtv only favored hip hop and R&B no rock at all.
Well in 2021 you can catch some 80's band concerts. Def Leppard, Poison, Ozzy, End of the Kiss tour, Cheap Trick, and of course Metallica. See these bands before some of them go away. Some and yes even the immortal Ozzy are retiring, and for others something can go wrong, yes serious health problems.

BUT, THE 80s DEFINITELY PUT IT'S MARK ON THE ROCK~N~ROLL, HEAVY METAL ERA, NO DOUBT.

um, no. 60's and 70's both better.
It's a shame this music has come and gone just glad we can still listen to it, the new crap playing now is awful😢

@gretchengoulet910Feel ur pain !!!!9
I'm 52 and starting a new with a new label
YES
Nearly 70 doin the same!
I was born in 80, as soon as I saw the video for this I was like blown away. This says it was released in '82, but it was played for years on the radio and then when we had a music video station. Awesome!
I remember when I first saw this video on mtv back in 80’s song kicked ass still does
Gotta love a guy who makes an entrance via helicopter wearing a leopard leotard. Oh, yeah!
That's when MTV was great! Now, I don't even know if it's still a channel. Rap ruined MTV along with those stupid shows.
@@TheMom2three I agree totally on everything you said. I went to the Connecticut men’s club in 1988 and got out in 1999. When I watched MTV again the whole channel was like BET. No offense to anyone but it’s like mtv only favored hip hop and R&B no rock at all.
the 80's when music didn't suck ! miss those times ..
So I do
So do I mean
60s 70s ...
Um culture club .....?
Well in 2021 you can catch some 80's band concerts. Def Leppard, Poison, Ozzy, End of the Kiss tour, Cheap Trick, and of course Metallica. See these bands before some of them go away. Some and yes even the immortal Ozzy are retiring, and for others something can go wrong, yes serious health problems.
Why the hell would anyone give a thumbs down to this classic. I've rocked out to this for 40 years.
Cuz they don't know good shit n good times with this music. Ha
Jealousy...
Yeah, baby!! The 80's guitar rock swing always takes me back.
*THIS HAS ONE OF THE BEST 'INTROS' (from start to when vocals start) OF ANY ROCK SONG ...EVER!*
🎵🎶💿🎸
Sounds a lot like the intro to Children of the Sun, both great songs.
Andy Roid I have to agree. The sound of the intro off a vinyl lp with the volume turned up is otherworldly. Sadly,
this early 80’s video does it little justice.
