I AGREE WITH YOU, THE 1980s & MAYBE A BIT OF THE EARLY 90s WAS A TIME WHERE WE WERE ALL GIFTED WITH A LOT OF FREAKING AWESOME BANDS, & A SHITLOAD OF GREAT FREAKING MUSIC.. WITHOUT A DOUBT, THE 80s BLEW AWAY MOST OTHER ERAs OF MUSIC. I'M DEFINITELY NOT SAYING ALL OTHER TIMES SUCKED, CAUSE NEVER SAID THAT, NOR IMPLIED IT, CAUSE "IMO", THE LATE 70s & 90s, Even some of the Early 2000s Were FULL of Some Unique, & STRONG MUSIC. BUT, THE 80s DEFINITELY PUT IT'S MARK ON THE ROCK~N~ROLL, HEAVY METAL ERA, NO DOUBT.
Fantasy by Aldo Nova is such a classic rock hit, saw them in concert. If you got to grow up in the 50's through the 90's with all those golden classic cars, movies, music and songs, YOU were very blessed, an era that will never be repeated!

Although I'm a Gen-Xer and like a lot of 80s music, I don't feel like, in comparison to the music of the 60's and 70's, that 80's music as a whole, "BETTER". Yeah, we had the hair metal bands like Bon Jovi and Motley Crue, and the obviously killer stuff...the Psychedelic Furs, Billy Idol, Dio, Bauhaus, Cindy Lauper (lol I like a WIDE variety of genres) and some decent "punk"; but with MTV taking the world by storm in 80-81, it suddenly became a LOT more about "The look" than ever before. And although it's always been a part of the mudic biz, the whole attitude of fashion over talent really started becoming the monster it is today.

The guitar player (Kevin Carlson) was a friend from high school. We were in our first band together ('73- '74). Very talented musician and a really nice cat. His brother, Rich, is still playing and a great drummer. Sadly, Kevin passed away a few years ago from a brain tumor. And I'm still playing. Sometimes the universe doesn't make any sense at all.
Sorry to hear of the passing of your long time friend and amazing guitarist, Kevin. I'm sure you know how blessed you were to have had him in your life. Blessings and peace to you.
my first concert was vanilla ice in 92 :( to be fair though you got one free ticket with the purchase of a large pizza from pizza delight and my aunt Barb managed a local pizza delight and got us all tickets, I was only 10 at the time, Aunt Barb really came through for the squad, she hooked it up in a big way.

The year was 1981 ~ early MTV ~ this was one of the first videos I remember watching ~ it was in heavy rotation on a daily basis ~ everyday I'd come home from high school around 3:45 pm and turn on the TV and Voila' ~ there would be Aldo Nova in all his glory in that leopard print suit making quite an entrance with his laser shooting guitar ~ love this video!!

82sweetheart I always thought this video was from 1981... the debut year of MTV, and the music video(Buggles, Video killed the Radio Star). I was in junior high school, 7th grade, and used to see this video, along with Adam and the Ants, Genesis, Loverboy, Journey, Rolling Stones, Judas Priest, etc. Like, I thought, this video was from 1981... but WHY is there a 1982 Pontiac J2000(Sunbird) in the video?? The 1st year for the GM, fwd J-cars was 1982(Chevy Cavalier, Pontiac J2000, Olds Firenza, Buick Skyhawk and Cadillac Cimarron), and it shows the pimp and the hookers, sitting on top of and next to a 1982 Pontiac J2000. Unless, it was an early 1981 production model, and Pontiac just wanted to show it in a video, to the young impressionable teen viewers, who were getting their licenses at the time. Who knows? lol
Me too bro... Most of my friends did in that era listened to Aldo Nova, Journey, Def Leppard... So, listening to this is very normal for me... Oh, yeah, Mike Reno too...

Younger people do make good guitar based music, you just have to look harder. The band Alien Weaponry is an amazing band from New Zealand, has played at the largest Rock/Metal festival in the world and the oldest one in the band is maybe 23
I like any good music and I have to say, there hasn't been much good out there lately. Lana Del Ray, Hoozier, a few songs here and there by other bands.
I hardly hear the car radio anymore but this song came on today and I totally forgot about it. The guitar riff is iconic! A true classic rock masterpiece.
Guys don't be mean.. Reccomend me more, good artists like this guy, where you can totally feel the magic and energy. Give me song names, bands etc.. Try not to give me overly popular bands like bon jovi, kiss, Europe, poison, motley crüe, guns n roses, etc. Ya get my point. I mean, I didn't know this song until about 2 months ago, if it wasn't for an excellent rocker friend. Otherwise, I really don't know where else to look for good artists from the golden era of music. Thanks for your attention.
First stage of manhood reached in '82: first cig, first beer, makings of a peach-fuzz moustache. Next year was phase two: GIRLZZZ, comb in back pocket, digital watch, jean jacket, Cougar shoes, hair blown dry and parted in the middle, video games, Dairy Queen and INDOOR ROLLER SKATING!!! Best days of my youth... LL
@Michael Myers Yes, Mr. Myers. I was but a teen by the time this track was spinning round by radio. How 'bout you? Were you wearing corduroys and blow drying your hair down the middle while this song was blowing away the masses?
@Michael Myers Woo hoo! Weren't those times the best?! I play top rock songs from 1981 often via TH-cam to keep me awake during 'working' hours. Long live indoor arena rollerskating and/or playing Space Invaders to the thunderous sound of Macho Man/Village People once all the 'originality' of this world as we know it has run out! Cheers, LL.
@LL (and Richard and Michael): Shoot, you guys crack me up with your spot on descriptions...we are definitely bro's at heart. Richard, you grew up in Boston and said "no matter the city, it was the same". Totally agree! I grew up in an small Idaho town and yet it was probably the same as Boston. LL, starting in 6th grade, hanging out at the indoor roller skating rink playing Space Invaders was the pastime of choice, with the apex coming in '82 with the arrival of Fantasy. Good times! It was 8th grade and I was 14. Shortly after Fantasy hit the radio waves, me and some buddies traveled to the "big" city 30 miles away (pop. 40,000) for a regional church dance. Not long after walking in, the DJ puts on Fantasy. It was only about the 3rd or 4th time I'd ever heard it, but like any dude of the time we all loved it after the first time. There was no song as killer as Fantasy at that time--it was completely mind blowing. Anyway, I walked around to the opposite side of the gym so I could stand right below those massive speakers to get the full effect of having my hair pulse past my ears with each pounding beat of the woofers right behind my head. I also probably lost 10% of my hearing that night. Never will forget that classic 80's memory! Every time I hear Fantasy, that memory is re-lived. You guys joked about not having your hair anymore...fortunately I still have mine, but it admittedly is 90% gray! Rock on bros!
Leopard print outfit? Check. Ridiculously over the top stage name? Check. Killer recycled Toto riff, retooled for maximum potency? Check . Searing pentatonic leads? Check. Eerie keyboard driven melody? Check. Electric guitar with added laser beam feature, able to slice thru solid steel? Check. Yes, this one had it all. God bless you, Aldo Caporuscio, and the fantasy you made into reality for all of us.

It started historically as they all came to meet us!
These bands loved us💞✊ They really did. We always gave them what they hadn't expected....at first. After they would come back to rock for us, they already knew what to expect!! They GOT IT!!
I went to every single one of the Rock concerts that came to San Antonio after that for seven consecutive years even when they started to come to Sunken Gardens because they were destroying our Conventions Center Arena. It was so worth it All. I live by those unforgettable moments and memories now. What a performance we gave them right back. They loved it!!⚡⚡⚡🌟

Still a classic ? Lol
That is the thing about a classic....They don't become less of a classic with age and time...lol

I was born in 90, but my Pop was born in 54 and guess what? I know alllll the good tunes thanks to him 😉

City nights Summer Breeze makes you feel all right
Neon lights shining brightly make your brain ignite
See the girls with the dresses so tight
Give you love if the price is right
Black or white in the streets there's no wrong and no right , Nooooo
Outta Sight, buy your kicks from the man in the white
Feels Alright, powder pleasure in your nose tonight
See the men paint their faces and cry
Like some girls it makes you wonder why
City Life, sure it's cool but it Cuts Like a Knife, it's your life
So forget all that you see
It's not reality, it's just a fantasy
Can't you see what this crazy life is doing to me
Life is just a fantasy can you live a Fantasy Life

I'm black and I had the album when it came out! I thought that Aldo was so cool. He was the shit! I used to blast the album and shook all my bedroom windows. Those were the great ole' days. Great album indeed!

Same class! We played this in the park at night over and over!
The first time I heard this song I was riding in a Buick Grand national Regal. The back seat with a banging system. Stoned out of my mind. Loving life. Damn those were the good old days.
Wow, riding in one of the baddest and fastest production cars of the 80's. And one of the coolest songs from the 80s and being stoned. You had to be on top of the world !! Thank you for sharing. I am jealous.
Yes, Buick Grand National was probably the fastest domestic car in the 80's. Even when compared to equivalent yr Corvettes. Look it up ??

I remember listening to this in my friend Dobbs' old Chevy Nova, gold colored, 250 six cylinder, with aluminum slot wheels! No high speed hot rodding in that car, just leisurely A to B with loud music! He's about four years older than me, and I wasn't even old enough for my driver's permit yet! Man, I'd give my left nut to be able to go back!

80's definitely had the best music! I say we are not getting older just wiser😊
Were gettin better.😊
um, no. 60's and 70's both better.
It's a shame this music has come and gone just glad we can still listen to it, the new crap playing now is awful😢
And better
I relive the 80’s all the time

Who knows? lol

@@moremoney2 who cares, get the fuck over it
@@indianathiessenone person named Aldo Nova but the band “Aldo Nova” had more than one person.
Wow TH-cam just deleted this whole thread. What else do you have to hide?
Ahhh, good ‘ol MTV. It didn’t last very long before MTV started showing everything BUT music videos.
~~`OCTOBER 2023~~ STILL LOVING TO LISTEN TO SOME FANTASY :) THANKS ALDO NOVA!!
"Powder pleasure in your nose tonight". Yep, this is the 80's. And it's magnificent.
Oh way too much, wish I had some of that money back now, but young and having money was what the 80's was about.
40 years later and this song still kicks ass! The 80s had the best music. Period. And also Nova is still putting out albums and touring...Lots of 80s artists are! Guys we were blessed to live in that time. If I had a time machine and could only pick one time to go back to, it would be the 80's!
Yes the AWESOME 80s best hair band rock & roll music ever. I love this song in 2022 as I did in the 80s, I'd love to go back as so as I build a time machine, at the age of 54 I'd go back in a second
Ditto 💯🤘🤘🤘
Damn straight 80's will never be replaced or forgotten!
Great song back in the day. Going to parties in the mountains playing it on our cassette player in the truck blasting.
I'm 12 years old and listen to music like this nonstop, I wish making good music was still a thing, I think our generation really missed out!
@Vanessa, you are wise well beyond your years. Back then music was real and the artists were actually talented. Both quite rare now.
Younger people do make good guitar based music, you just have to look harder. The band Alien Weaponry is an amazing band from New Zealand, has played at the largest Rock/Metal festival in the world and the oldest one in the band is maybe 23
@@wesleyzimmerman3145 i will have to look into that, sounds cool

Without a doubt, music back in late 70's & 80's was so much better, then it is today!
Which is what all people say as they get old...
I like any good music and I have to say, there hasn't been much good out there lately. Lana Del Ray, Hoozier, a few songs here and there by other bands.
Indeed, indeed.
I hardly hear the car radio anymore but this song came on today and I totally forgot about it. The guitar riff is iconic! A true classic rock masterpiece.
Guitars with lasers…. Legendary 🤟🏻
No blow was wasted in the making of this vid.
Now what would make you say a thing like that?!......as I wipe off my upper lip while sniffing
ROFL
White sugar donuts. Tf dontcha understand about that?
Feels alright, powder pleasure in your nose tonight.

Man...played the absolute hell out of this cassette back in the day...Aldo Novas debut was really quite good...circa 1982 think it was...
yes, Fantasy was our 82 grad song and the first release off his first album, pretty sure the album was released in 81
.. get rocked, very funny bro. love this song. classic 80's.
yeah me too i think i still have that cassette somewhere lol
Guys don't be mean.. Reccomend me more, good artists like this guy, where you can totally feel the magic and energy. Give me song names, bands etc.. Try not to give me overly popular bands like bon jovi, kiss, Europe, poison, motley crüe, guns n roses, etc. Ya get my point. I mean, I didn't know this song until about 2 months ago, if it wasn't for an excellent rocker friend. Otherwise, I really don't know where else to look for good artists from the golden era of music. Thanks for your attention.
saxon, accept, armored saint, Icon, riot without the quite on it. dig deep my friend and you will find
LL
LANKY LANKSTER i hear ya bro. we grew up same exact time. im from boston but no matter every city the same
@Michael Myers Yes, Mr.
Cheers, LL.
@Michael Myers I hear 'ya 'bout NO MORE HAIR! LOL!
2021 Fantasy of being back in 1982. Working on 40 years later and this song still kicks ass.👍🏻😎
He released a NEW version of this song, and it's awesome.
WE ARE!
Unbelievable how the years passed.
Pretty damn good for a Canadian band eh
80's was the best. if time travel was possible I go back, but then the 90's gave me a beautiful wife and 3 awesome children. I would never leave them. just memories now but will never forget. Rock on
All time great intro 😊
One of the greatest underrated Italian Canadian hard rock guitarist of all time!
