People forget that heavies never left the top spot in the meta and in needing to always find something new to blame, they turn their attention to lightweight builds despite them being severely handicapped this generation.
been playing a ton of ACV and ACVD lately and OH MY GOD I forgot how good it felt to have actually viable lightweights that can run laps around heavies without the heavy tracking them with perfect hard lock
@linkkicksu and if that wasn't enough, I discovered that the range in speed between the heaviest and lightest builds in AC4A compared to the ranges in AC6 shrunk by about 50% despite the EHP gap (AP+Def) between games only dropping by about 5%. In other words, LWs are slower AND more frail than ever, and that's not even accounting for hard lock OR a lack of flares.
It's funny how every duel pistol cqc LW has been nerfed to the ground, but duel zimm/lrb HW's can run a muck for 5 season's straight. The community keeps blabbing on about indirect nerfs when the weapons in question need a literal direct nerf. LRB's impact/ impact accum turning it into a raw damage weapon, as it stands running two of them is enough to still pop stagger on certain AC's. Zimmerman Needs a weight increase, every weight class can run them which leaves more room for stat dense frame parts
Personally I think the Duckett nerf is fine. It was the ONLY weapon I was seeing people online using once you got to S. If you wanted to stagger quickly, there really was no reason to use anything else aside from maybe Zimms. I still think Zimms need a nerf though. Weapons in this game usually fall into 4 categories. 1: build stagger, 2: do damage, 3 keep stagger from falling off, or 4: punish. But, the Zimms do literally all of the above. That's why having just 2 zimms + shield is enough to win at top level. With the duckets you still needed to dedicate 1 slot to a punish weapon. Which means you couldn't use a shield and Duckets together effectively. But, because zimms are a stagger + punish in 1. You can have your shield (Defense), ranged on Back-R, and with 2 Zims you have your stagger and your punish all in 1 build. And, don't even get me started on the LRB, it's similar to the Zim in that it builds stagger, is a hard punish, and even worse has net code priority so you can't reliably dodge it. Hope they nerf the speed of heavies too. Everything about my AC get's better when I'm heavier, and my speed only drops like maybe 20 points while I get +300 stability, 1.5x armor defense. It's ridiculous how little consequences there are to throwing heavy weapons onto your AC as long as you stay below arbitrary weight classes.
Zimms have network priority too. Every hand weapon, all shoulder cannons and truenos are attacker side. Lrb has just a bigger hitbox thats why it hits more often than a ransetsu rf. Also nerfing zimms and lrb is risky, especially lrb is what is keeping kites in a sort of check especially after etsujin nerf. Kiri kite especially would become a huge problem.
Hearing that the ducketts were the only weapon you saw is very bizarre. Yeah at the start a lot of people were trying them out but there were FAR from dominant. Everyone was still on zimms, etsus, LRBs, and the usual suspects, with ducketts finally seeing some use. The duckett nerf was unjustified, the main reason ducketts finally saw use was because they buffed the arms so Basho and Lamm arms weren’t the only arms with melee specialization worth something. That and the ocellus nerf meant basho arms weren’t as dominant as before. The buff to ducketts was minimal and wasn’t to the stats it actually needed. Projectile speed was the only thing that the ducketts really needed to be in the higher tier of weapons, play duck blade and you will quickly realize how bad they are against kites or players that are good with movement, it’s abysmal. Ducketts are great against heavy weights but struggle to remain consistent against other matchups.
I think the handguns and zimms could be easier to manage if they nerfed the Accumulative Impact. Seems like a fair trade to me. If individual shots have high stagger, it shouldn't be an eternity before it drops off again
Bro, i dont even play pvp and this patch screwed me. I love light builds, and I did double Duckett. Now its goofed up. This explains why I couldnt hit basic mts and helicopters from 100m away as usual. This bugs me so much
I've seen people comment about the Ducketts not being used that much for meta but on xbox I have seen nothing but ultra lightweight dual wield duckett(with no back weapons) builds in pvp for like 80% of the games. They're way too fast to get near them, and they are kind of dominating most non meta builds. so, I think the point of the nerf is to force them to closer ranges.
I was seeing a similar thing on PS5, absolutely loads of Ducketts all over the place and they were absolutely destroying me in pretty much every combo I saw them in. I'm not the best player so don't take my word for it but it felt even more oppressive than Zimms to me 😅 Though I thought the buff was odd in the first place, I used to run Ducketts on my main mech back when BVO was super popular and I could beat em very consistently, so my impression was that they were already great
@@Fatlumpthe1st Because at least you could still somewhat dodge Zimms shot with perfect timing (even with a sluggish AC), against Ducketts you just basically eat all of it if your speed isn't above a certain level. Honestly, it was stupid to just buff more weapons to basically does the same exact thing as what the meta was doing, instead they should've focus on nerfing the biggest offenders.
Bingo, @@skeltaldelegate5408. Add to the fact that a LW is slower backpedaling (370 forward speed gets you 340 backpedaling) from the heavy than he is approaching, and you get a situation where the LW has no choice but to try to brawl with an AC with higher AP, defenses, stability, and likely heavier weaponry.

The problem fromsoft keeps missing with BVO, and all its iterations by patch (etsijin, ducket etc.) is that ALL these weapon classes that have high fire rate AND the goal of stagger buildup, should be primarily accumulative impact focused. They should not have the same ratio of impact/accumulative impact as shotguns ie 2 to 1. This is also the reason shields are so weak against them when they should be counters. Globally Reducing their impact to equal 125% of their current accum impact would solve all of this without over nerfing. The reason 2x duckets are broken is that they put out 1071 impact PER SECOND, while being steady and reliable hits This beats the minigun handidly, and the zimmerman deapite the zimm being coumterable with good dodges/shields

The ocellus nerf did it’s job to reign in basho, no idea why lrb madness is allowed to continue. Maybe the jp fanbase wants a classic style karasawa-like to remain in the game.

I compared the Duckett to the Coquillett using your formula, and it looks like the Duckett deals about 35% more damage. I did the same with the recoil, and the result is almost identical. That being said, I'm not sure if the difference in damage should equate to the same in recoil, since the Duckett has a much longer barrel. Longer barrel means more weight at the end, which means less recoil.
I think the duckett nerf is manageable...but it is pretty odd. Yes ducketts did surge up in usage after it got buffed, but I really don't think it was all that oppressive to nerf it one patch later. Especially when it still suffered issues such as rough projectile speed, and the effective range being rough against heavier builds. Still tho, manageable nerf, the recoil nerf enforces pacing the shots with ducketts which is something that should be done with anyway but it punishes the rapid fire more now. @@interwebrando135 Indeed, they have way too much AP for the weight class. I think making them heavier would be the right move, it makes no sense for bulky looking, high AP arms to be so light while also having such high melee attack. A weight nerf is the most appropriate imo.
The recoil nerf is also an impact nerf. I don't understand why they gave it a triple nerf instead of just nerfing recoil, because the recoil at least makes sense because they're large magnum pistols.
Every Armored Core has pvp, that and the base game is so incredibly easy that it makes experimenting pointless in pve. On my first playthrough I literally ran through the entire game with the literal first build I made and the only hard part was balteus (which was mainly me just having a poor strategy for that fight).
In short, you couldn’t simply adjust to this meta to beat the duckets you knew you’d run into. You just called the game unbalanced because your favorite gun wasn’t effective.
Which is a stupid metric to follow. It’s like genuinely trusting Rotten Tomatoes to give you the best movies when it’s just everyone agreeing it’s a 6/10. @@interwebrando135 Indeed, they have way too much AP for the weight class. I think making them heavier would be the right move, it makes no sense for bulky looking, high AP arms to be so light while also having such high melee attack. A weight nerf is the most appropriate imo.
Basho and zimms have already both been nerfed
@@interwebrando135 No, they need a weight nerf. They're almost 1k weight lighter than Nachtreiher.
Fuck nerfs. Buff everything else. Rifles suck.
I think the patch wasnt great but it's not one of those "offensively bad" patches (some of splatoon 2s patches during 5.0.0>5.5.0 come to mind)
Not great but some of the changes outside of the unnessasary duck nerf where neat
The recoil nerf is also an impact nerf. I don't understand why they gave it a triple nerf instead of just nerfing recoil, because the recoil at least makes sense because they're large magnum pistols.
Pvp ruined this game
Every Armored Core has pvp, that and the base game is so incredibly easy that it makes experimenting pointless in pve. On my first playthrough I literally ran through the entire game with the literal first build I made and the only hard part was balteus (which was mainly me just having a poor strategy for that fight).
I'm still crying over the siege missile nerf, the APERATRIF. You can dodge it now by moving with a boost speed above 180. Just moving btw not QB
Always been that way
Too far brov
Double Duckets are a low skill high result build. Seeing them moved to sidearm only created a better ranked environment.
It was a good patch.
In short, you couldn’t simply adjust to this meta to beat the duckets you knew you’d run into. You just called the game unbalanced because your favorite gun wasn’t effective.
Most used weapons get nerfed.
Duckett was overused
Which is a stupid metric to follow. It’s like genuinely trusting Rotten Tomatoes to give you the best movies when it’s just everyone agreeing it’s a 6/10. The top circles determine the right to ban something, not the wave of new players thinking it’s the best because it was talked about the most in patch notes discussions.
That's the same logic that the Helldivers 2 devs used and it almost killed their game.
Yet lrb and zimms is untouched. If anything needs a nerf it’s the lrb
