    Great video, thank you for explaining how you drilled out the threaded holes. I would've been lost on that lol.

    My favorite part of these cars is how all the pulleys are on the side of the engine with no room :)
    Successful repair. PS pumps going out usually are pretty common.

    • @SalemDoyle

      You will lose most of the fluid swapping the pump, then just re fill, turn the wheel back and forth to work air out

    Great video! After the pain in the ass it is just to check the ps fluid level. I wouldnt have thought in a million years that pump would come out of there through the top. Especially without removing the alt. Really good to know! Thank you.
    PS the audio blew my ear drums out when it switched from the pulley install to the music 🤔

    If you lower the subframe a little,you can line up those pump bolts easier. And stick the pump in from below.

    So is it the power steering pump that's making that audible whine not so much when you turn the tires but when you rev the engine on my 2005 base model 3800 Grand Prix. Also another note power steering seems to be working just fine but the whining keeps getting worse. First time Grand Prix owner here. Love the channel by the way. Keep the videos coming.

    When I did the ps pump on my old silver 03 gt. There was no room getting it out the top (well without un-doing the alt bracket, in which includes messing with coolant). What I did instead was unbolt the rear of the subframe and support with a jack. Leaving the front 2. Took it out through the wheel well. Also stay away from rebuilt units from anywhere. Always buy new.

    • @SalemDoyle
      @SalemDoyle  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Going out the bottom works too. There may not be as much room on the older cars

    • @ashtonhenderson46
      @ashtonhenderson46 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On w-body gp’s they can come out of the top without removing the alt bracket if you just unclip the wire cluster and shove it over up and to the right. You gotta put the pump at some weird angels but it comes out.

    Maybe a dumb question......Did you have to bleed the system afterwards ? Any particular process involved? Also, do you recommend PS fluid changes, and if so, at what frequency?

    • @SalemDoyle
      @SalemDoyle  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It mostly bleeds its self. I just run it. Steer all the way back and forth a couplebof times. Then shut it off and let it sit for a minute. I change out my ps fluid when it starts to smell or look bad. But not regularly.

      No just fill reservoir crank engine for 2 seconds turn off refill crank engine for 2 sec turn off repeat til no longer gets low. Pit cap on and drive that way you get no air in the system

    My bottom side of the hose does not have that clamp where you can take one end off on min 1:10-1:13. I have one big clamp that holds the bottom rubber hose and the metal line together. Any tips on how I can take that off ?

    • @SalemDoyle
      @SalemDoyle  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you need to separate them you will have to carefully cut that clamp off, but if the hose is ok, just separate it at the pump.
