    Thanks! Never even heard of a jaw puller before today. I'm pretty confident I can get this adapter off tomorrow after I procure me one.

    Use a propane torch on low heat. Turn the blade for good heat distribution. Put some PB blaster on and let it soak in overnight. A couple light taps with the hammer and you`re done. Put never- seize moly back on the crankshaft and adapter and have no more future trouble.

    Apply grease on the crankshaft before reinstalling the adapter. This will make it a lot easier to remove next time.

      As I mentioned at the end of the video, I used Anti-seize before reinstalling. Thanks for watching.

      @@RealManSkills Oh. Oops! Well, anti-seize will work just as well. Anything is better than nothing! lol

    I AllWAYS remove carb and fuel tank
    Then use cutting torch to heat it and water, install puller and it’s done 😊
    Get a grade 8 bolt one and 1/4 longer and center drill it, works great

    Just watched half of this first time and said to myself oh yeah I got this. Now that I have watched it all the way thru I am glad you had the same problem I am having. Longer skinnier bolt Brillant will get right on it.

    Actually that worked well. I’ve seen others have to use heat. Giving mine a try today.

    What size/brand is the puller?

  • @cherokeefiddler

    Nice job getting the pulley off the shaft. I notice that you have a nut threaded on the puller shaft. Does this serve a purpose?

    • @RealManSkills
      @RealManSkills  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It must have come with the puller. I have never used it. Thanks for watching!

    Where can I get that exact same adapter or one the works? I have a craftsman 917-376460 and the adapter looks the same

    I would try a hose clamp on the head of the bolt keep it in place

    Don’t pull on the outside flange or you’ll wrap it, I’m serious 😮

    I have about an 80% failure rate at these. My puller gets all out of straight and I get nowhere Very frustrating,

    The retainer is seized and I bent it trying to remove it. I 3:26 cant get any oil in it to assist in removing it. Any ideas?

      You might try heating it up with a torch.

    I would use a pull hammer to hammer the adapter out.

    I would think that it should had been oiled first with wd40 let it sit for half hour should had popped right off.

    • @mcoguyaj
      @mcoguyaj 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      you would think so right I hit mine with blaster at first then hit it again and let it sit all night and again today. Still Stuck. I used to use wd40 and one day after using wd40 and still stuck I picked up blaster and never went back. Own a lawn business and was given this mower by one of my customers had it for years first time i have to take it off so don't know how long it has been stuck.
