Ingredients:
For Caramel:
1/2 Cup of Sugar
For the Pudding:
5 Eggs
1 Can of Condensed Milk (300/389g)
1 1/2 Cans of Water (Use the condensed milk can to measure)
1 teaspoon of Vanilla extract
Bake the pudding in a water bath on 350F for an hour...

Hi everyone!! Just wanted to mention that in this recipe I keep the Pyrex dish on stove for few minutes to melt the sugar a little bit. I would not recommend anyone doing it. It was something I did just to make life easier. Pyrex dishes will break exposing to direct heat. So please use this method shown in the link below to caramelize sugar. Which will make your life easier!! Sorry for the inconvenience!!THANK YOU!! ❤️

Hi! SueRan, Thank you for sharing. This is how we generally make the caramel pudding. But just a tip... Butter the pudding bowl before you put the caramel in and thereafter the pudding mixture. Once it is baked run the knife like the way you did and turn it upside down. You will see that no caramel sticks in the pudding bowl and it slips out effortlessly. Try using lime juice instead of vanilla and see the difference.

Do we put the lime juice the same amount as the vanilla?
I don’t use lime juice in this recipe. But I know some use it in their puddings. I would use about 1/2-1 tsp of lime or lemon zest. Juice might make the milk curdle..

if you place a towel in between the baking pan and the tray, it can help eliminate the bubbles and the flan will look smooth. Also, you can warm the mixture before pouring in the pan can reduce the baking time.

When making the caramel, how do you know when it's ready? Also, is stirring a no-go when making caramel?
if you are caramelizing sugar without adding water do not stir, swirl the pan around so it won't burn. When sugar turns golden brown its done, be careful not to burn..:)

Can I use aluminum container/ ramekin for baking the caramel?
Beautiful! I like this technique to make a single big pudding. But I would save the original bowl in the kitchen to lick out the leftover caramel :-)

an overcooked flan has holes in it and a perfectly cooked flan is silky and smooth without one little hole.
Elizabeth Shaw is that how you get those holes??? I love those little holes! It makes it look more yummy!
paxsmile sorry didn’t see this comment early enough. Hole are from air bubbles..if you strain the mixture before baking it will reduce. Thanks though😊😍
SueRan oh no thank you! I LIKE the appearance of holes, it emulates a nice firm piece of cheese!
Flan should not have holes. Holes indicate that the dessert is either overcooked, which would make it too "tough" in texture, or cooked at too high a temperature which would ruin it. Also condensed milk , to me, does not belong in this delicate and yummy dessert. Creme caramel is made in many countries, and I'm sure everyone substitutes ingredients. As for me I'll stick with the classical French recipe.

If you don’t have an oven, you can steam it. By the way, nice caramel ☺️
You need to stirr very well and filter for not having any bubbles. Reduce also the temperature look at the bubbles they are many !

Also why every time I flipped over there's alway sugar it doesn't seem to melt like yours. So do I flip it over before refrigerated.
You dont need to refrigerate before flipping..I let it cool for about 30-40 minutes and flipped over..Make sure when you do the water bath, water will cover caramel in the pan..Hope this helps :)

chill it completely..It tastes better when its completely cools down..You can leave it in the fridge overnight..
