    Back from extinction, AIST have built a new Dinosaur Robot and let it loose upon the world. Built in 2005, the T-Rex stands at 1.5 meters tall, with a full length of 3.5 meters and a mass of 87 kg. The robot's top speed is 1.6 km/hr or almost one mile per hour Within the body their are four types of sensors; gyroscopic, accelaration, force senZsors in the feet, and a camera to take in data around it. To help create realistic movement there are 27 joints in the body including those to move eyelids.

    @Shift4chizzle at the time, yes, because making a functional t-rex robot who can walk and roar and having skin and color is not as easy as you might think (at THAT time)

    Okay.
    These are my comments on this robot:
    1: It is cool.
    2: It has to wide legs and feet.
    3: It should move on the whole body when he is walking.
    4: Unrealisitc movements with the head and the neck.

  • @WarChicken78
    @WarChicken78 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow. Amazing how the robot holds the balance.
    But he's a little on the slow side if you take in account, that the T-Rex was rather quick hunter most probably.
    But it's an impressive robot nonetheless.

    @LailaBerries What you're referring to is a high tech puppet show, not robotics. This is a functional, self contained and powered robot not an animatronic puppet or a suit that a performer wears.

  • @marshalltearle8359
    @marshalltearle8359 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    The main thing that rescues this is the true bipedal motion (which is very impressive in any case). I do however think they could've focused more on the animatronic side of things to add a bit more realism.

    I realize this was quite an achievement, building something that could walk and self-balance. Too bad about the neck and head shaking with each step, though. What a distraction. The next challenge should be finding a way to counteract that.

  • @venian646
    @venian646 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    I hate how its head wobbles and its walking is clunky but hopefully they make a new one that fixes these problems. That way well use them instead of cars u just hop on top of it.

    i dont think we should make robots that learn because robots are like people, when they are kids, though know nothing so it is easy to teach them what you want, but as they get older and learn from their environment then they might learn to be violent and they might learn that they are being controller by people and they would then learn the emotion anger
