Back from extinction, AIST have built a new Dinosaur Robot and let it loose upon the world. Built in 2005, the T-Rex stands at 1.5 meters tall, with a full length of 3.5 meters and a mass of 87 kg. The robot's top speed is 1.6 km/hr or almost one mile per hour Within the body their are four types of sensors; gyroscopic, accelaration, force senZsors in the feet, and a camera to take in data around it. To help create realistic movement there are 27 joints in the body including those to move eyelids.

This was 5 years ago, i'm sure it's 10 times as cool today !
at 1mph that T-rex ain't going catch no one, poor guy. Guess he will be extinct all over again.
The triceratops they make goess half a mile per hour, so no worries!
*gigglesnort*
The narrator sounds soooooo excited.
Pretty sweet but needs more natural movements!
Pog
Who’s here for Nostalgia?
I am but mostly it makes me sad that there hasn't been anything better or that this stuff has not made it to the toy industry. I really want ether a Pet Raptor or Wyvern.
they should make a full scale one that you get into through the mouth to make it look like you got eaten. would really freak out a crowd.
you know that scientist has ridden that thing at least once.
The dinosaur robot?
I would literally buy that thing no matter how much it cost
Fucking same I litterally said that but how much does it cost
@@annavirtala4240 they need to make a Spinosaurus one
It costs 7690 dollars
True! I never really thought of that. And I didn't pay attention to it's speed, so I thought it could just, like....run after you! :D Thanks.
Hmm... I wonder if these will ever be commercially available? If so I MUST have one! 8D
@Shift4chizzle at the time, yes, because making a functional t-rex robot who can walk and roar and having skin and color is not as easy as you might think (at THAT time)
Wow, that thing sure looks and moves like a real dinosaur... >.>
That thing freaks me out a bit. It is a free roamer pretty much. What if it malfunction and went on a rampage!?!?! :S Spooky.
thumbs up for t-rex!
Does it bite? I'd like one as a guard dog around the house. We need to get that walking speed up a bit.
that would be cool
Here before this gets popular and this is so old
Wow, very good! Muh better than a lot of other robots/animatronics that need to be tethered.
Okay.
These are my comments on this robot:
1: It is cool.
2: It has to wide legs and feet.
3: It should move on the whole body when he is walking.
4: Unrealisitc movements with the head and the neck.
1Mph no way!
Wow. Amazing how the robot holds the balance.
But he's a little on the slow side if you take in account, that the T-Rex was rather quick hunter most probably.
But it's an impressive robot nonetheless.
I like that the head are shaking :)
That`s real, cool, good work from you Japan or China what you are
Look at the excitement on everyone's face
@LailaBerries What you're referring to is a high tech puppet show, not robotics. This is a functional, self contained and powered robot not an animatronic puppet or a suit that a performer wears.
The main thing that rescues this is the true bipedal motion (which is very impressive in any case). I do however think they could've focused more on the animatronic side of things to add a bit more realism.
dear santa i've been extraaa good this year :D
Lol
Compared to that poor MIT raptor skeleton that can barely walk even assisted... man, these Japanese are kicking butt in technology
Wow, that narrator sounds really interested...
Oh GOD. They're using this technology to recreate Godzilla with cannons. I know it.
that one might be fun for a kids party, but other then that, keep it to some dude in a suit, but with weta legs, so it doesnt have the dude's legs visible
jordy brinkmann the robot is better
WOW COOL I WANT ONE!!!!! I LOVE Trex!!!
I´m a Dinosaur fan!!!!!!!
i love dinosaur im ther #1 fan
Its head flops around when it walks like it's Katherine Hepburn or something...
a bit too much head shake... but its an awesome robot!!
It has Cankles
Nice
you the best
Im pretty sure
MDR in CANADA that built the CANADARM built something similar and it was on Popular Mechanics for Kids and it even urinated as well!
The head wobble could have been fixed if they had a more robust neck to hold it steady. But make it run I doubt it.
these are the robots that will kill us all when they rebel lol
imagine that thing walking into your room at night while your sleeping, talk about your holy shit!
the newest robots can now run, and i know of one that can jump.
almost 1 mile per hour, almost!
@Jexyss yeah but an ostrich is small, a t-rex is huge; hence, he must weight tons! I doubt the t-rex would have been fast or looked like it does.
I see, thats why. But still looks great, if only they would slim down the legs a bit it would look excellent.
COOL
to bad about the feet having to be large for balance
looked pretty cool though
@ratsrulb thats why it can run 1.6 km a hour.. we can run up to 15 km ..
I wonder if that T-Rex [🦖 + 🤖] Robot can be used for Mass Media Entertainment Purposes? (E.g., Feature Films (e.g., Jurassic World: Dominion))
Those people must be tall as hell,
Looks good, but if its top speed is 1mph, i recon i could just jog away from it..jog jog jog jog....now im safe!!! :)
now i know why people call us idiots T.T
japan invents all the good stuff lol
They shoud make Terminator!!!!!!!:D
that is awsome !!!!
@supersmash43 its sad because the mightyness of the actual thing is no more.
I realize this was quite an achievement, building something that could walk and self-balance. Too bad about the neck and head shaking with each step, though. What a distraction. The next challenge should be finding a way to counteract that.
I hate how its head wobbles and its walking is clunky but hopefully they make a new one that fixes these problems. That way well use them instead of cars u just hop on top of it.
Those are some pretty big legs on the T. rex.
@Actiongirl991
well yes, but it still LOOKS like a T-Rex
they're not gonna make a full sized one are they...
I want that. Seriously.
@Shift4chizzle OHHHHHH.....sorry........they didn't want to bother you...they're just making HUGE progress in the robotic area.....
ya...but will it blend?
should make jumping robots...
T-Rex got kankles!
i gotta get me one of those
No wonder he can only go 1m/h, his huge feet are weighing him down!
The kids are so cute
Just get yourself a personal terminator from the future that can mumble things like "John Connor......" then you dont have to fear dangerous robots anymore :D
The head bounces everytime it steps...
oh my god, if they would sell that it would cost more than 100.000€!!
well when robots start the invasion we can at least run from this one...well walk from it too. lol
Now, let's stop using CGI and start perfecting robots like this for dinosaur movies!!!
I would to have this to put in the yard, it would surly freak the hell outta the neighbors.
Some Dino Robot Needs To Stop Eating Fries At McDonald's, it's going right to his thighs
i thought they have these in the Jurassic park rides?
its laaaame, CGI rocks! :D
It looks like Godzilla but, due to international copyright laws, it's not.
force sensors in the feet...hmmmm someone was having godzilla dreams lol but srsly DO WANT! dowantdowantdowant :D
the thing can walk as fast as my grandma
are these going to be for sale and if they r i want one
@Shift4chizzle stop giving thumbs up i think its perfect...
HAHAHAHAHA GOOD FOR A FOOLS DAY PRANK
@bud389 well yeah, but on first glance, one would still see that as a T Rex, despite obvious antatomical and proportionate errors...
HE'S JIGGLY :D
just the same as the animatronics they have on the jurrasic park ride in universal except moving legs
@dancecraze5 no if it were to stand better they would only make the legs bigger it iw because there is too much wiring or something that they needed to cover but the legs are still too fat and i dont understand why my comment is still the highest rated lulz
i dont think we should make robots that learn because robots are like people, when they are kids, though know nothing so it is easy to teach them what you want, but as they get older and learn from their environment then they might learn to be violent and they might learn that they are being controller by people and they would then learn the emotion anger
Pfft. There was a fully working Jaws robot a couple years before this. Except they were idiots and they made a robot shark, for filming in water...that wasn't waterproof.
IRONY. ANYBODY?!
ok lets see you do somethign better and the legs are for balance.but i geuse it would be much more better if it was remade again this year
@Shift4chizzle
Thats so it can stand up better
これマジ凄かった()
When can expect my lifesize mechagodzilla?
Looks good, except for the feet. Those look incredibly inaccurate.
The lovechild of T-rex and bigfoot?
@thekillerdagger im sure they have one with flesh and blood in a secret lab.
the feet are way to big and i wonder if there will be rideable robots...that would be awsome..but they would have to be made like dinosaurs
Wobbling head...yeh very realistic
They should have made a Velociraptor then I would seriously be scared to hell
how can u breed robot dinos though???
