Those are cold shoe mounts on the moment cage and the JJC. Not sure if you’re aware but hot shoe sends electronic signals from accessories to cameras such as flash, microphone, etc. Cold shoe is just mounting points for accessories.
he records himself on headphones instead of a microphone) hardly knows what a hot shoe is, and why all these crutches for such a weak camera don't really change anything much.
Upgrading from a iphone12 over to a 15 pro max. Have some big trips and plans coming up, planning on going all in on film accessories to film some important events. Hoping to narrow everything down and this helped a lot. I was debating getting a similar phone cage, mic, and sling bag, so I would definitely be interested in those accessories for my phone.
Nice presentation but one little detail off: It is NOT a hot-shoe, it is a cold shoe. The hot-shoe is when there is an electronic connection such as in the Sony A7 series in which you can install a wireless mic, flash or light that syncs directly with the camera via its hot-shoe connection. Other than that, very nice blogging style of yours!
Was wondering if anyone was gonna go there... :)
Came here to make this correction too haha.
I have been a Samsung user since the s2. This is it. I think I'm finally making the jump.
Ummm…. You’re not going to like it. If you’re a Samsung user. That’s not how it works
welcome
If you can keep your Samsung phone as a back up. Lot of people have a hard time going from Apple to Android or vice versa. But I think you’ll like it, I use both the 15 Pro Max (before that I had the 14 Pro Max) and S23 Ultra, I just switched on and off whenever I got bored or tired of using the OS.
I use both android and iPhones both are good, I prefer android though.
the best decision that you will ever be. welcome to the 🍎 world🔥
I am going from a 13 pro max to 15 pro. You have a wonderful way of explaining potential gear to use and price points. I never thought about using the cage and lenses to enhance my gear. Thank You
I'm going from 11 Pro Max to this 15 Pro Max and my upgrade will be significant. You've got the ways to explain things that I really like and all accessories you recommend are such a find. You save us time man, thank you! Off to your other video (INSANE Filmmaking Gear Under $99) that I saved in Watch Later 🙂
Are you me lol? Making the exact same upgrade.
@@TheJordanComplex Haha, I backed out after ordering, have to admit 🙂 Just a matter of money, I'll get it in early 2024...
I'm upgrading from a 7!
Gotta look at the SmallRig All-in-One Video Kit,.. You get the cage, tripod, mic, light and handle for $170. Plus you can still attach filters.
I really like how when your walking in the ball court your skin goes from nougat to dark chocolate when you do the grade wipe effect. Looks very accurate when graded
Nice video ! Note that you could also use a KASE magnetic filter adapter (various sizes inc. 49mm and 67mm), made for camera lenses, just screw it into your mag adapter and then use magnetic filters which are a real game changer - just a couple of secs to add / detach. KASE (and other brands) have a whole range of filters inc. various strength Black Mists.
I think the mounts are my choice as well for taking simple footage on our vacays. Good stuff, dude.
Just came across your video. Great job on explaining everything. I am a new subscriber and look forward to catching up on your older videos along with everything moving forward.
Been down the rabbit hole finding out how cool my new phone camera is…which led me to this badass video! I didn’t know all this stuff existed and am pretty excited to try some of it out. Thanks for sharing ✌🏼
The shot at 4:00 was so smooth... it showed how sufficient an iPhone will be for most beginner videographers.
You should shoot a music video in the new iPhone 15 Pro Max and show some color grading and editing BTS to show how it stacks up against Canon and Sony because this footage looks crazy good!!
I’ve got the moment filter mount with a variable nd filter and a cpl. I use a hohem isteady m6, which has enough clearance for the filter array.
Great video ! so you will be able to use the moment ND filters with any moment tripod mount , by attaching any Moment lenses and using the ND filter with it ,there is also a special adapter from moment for the filters when you want to use them with the moment lenses. Hope this will help .
Very nice video & info and your graded footage looks amazing! Thanks so much for putting this together.
would love for you to start including the video index in the description with time stamps. would be very helpful. love your content bro
I'm taking the risk on the PolarPro LiteChaser system... we'll see. I'd love to see a video on your workflow and setting when shooting video in ProRes to computer.
I’ve never dropped a comment on these five sways but I’ll give it a shot. Thank you for the past years of content bro. Been with you since 2019
Great video. Been looking for something like this that shows lots of available options. Keep,up the great work!
Great vid mane! That Moment cage is dope!!
Superb idea with valuable information. What I am really looking for is a zoom attachment, some sort of thumb rocker switch that can zoom in and out.
I know this may be a bit of a knit Moment Pro doesn’t have a hotshoe mount it has an coldshoe mount because hotshoe supply power through the mount, so unless I’m mistaken that’s a coldshoe! Again a minor thing but I just thought I’d call it out! But great video man!!!!!!! 😊☺️
Correct.
My last iPhone upgrade was the iPhone 11 Pro for the telephoto lens. Seeing that Apple alternates between improving Video Features then Photos Features every year (Cinematic Mode 13 Pro, ProRAW Photo 14 Pro, etc.) I've been waiting for the next significant video upgrade. With the introduction of LOG, the inclusion of Cinematic Mode, and the new 120mm lens, I'll definitely be upgrading this year. This won't be replacing my S1H by any means, but my phone will definitely get me closer to capturing shots similar to my mirrorless camera when I find myself in places where I can't bring a big camera around such as concerts, hiking, bar hopping w/ friends, etc.
I'd probably cop a JCC Filter Adapter or like what Philip Bloom reviewed, the Pan's Snap Filter to add ND and reduce the high shutter speed iPhone look.
I love it
A very interesting and comprehensive overview of filmmaking accesories. Many thanks for that. I've got a question regarding the JCC Magnetic Filter Adapter. Does it work with other brands' magsafe cases?
Such a great video, hyped to see you're liking the Moment Gear!! 🙌
This video was soooo helpful!! Great options and love the explanations :)
I was about to get the a6700 for hybrid photo and video but log and ProRes on the iPhone 15 makes me wonder if it’s even worth buying a body, lenses etc and just grab the iPhone 15 👀
Professor 🎓🎓 YC is giving us knowledge for days 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽… I’m going for this ASAP… 💯💯💯
13mini to 15pro max as well. Let’s go!
These are sweet! I just switched back to the iPhone with the max.
First time ever seeing your vids. Instantly subscribing 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
That sling bag is nice too!
I thinking about getting that filter mount that’s the game changer for me
Smooth presentation! Well done.
yooo nice video bro and actually all of these accessories are slick man!
gotta get me ona those
Great video....very informative and to the point. I like the differentiation between no filter and the pro mist filter. Thanks for your hard work in making this. New subscriber here because of this video....!
Video was informative, thank you 🙏🏽
Cool stuff. Thanks for doing this. I am a professional cinematographer and am digging the portability of the phone as a simple filler footage getter for documentary.
Yep, I think the iPhone 15 Max with external SSD for ProRes footage is great for B-Cam footage, but in many cases suitable for main footage.
Helpful review and great presentation. Thanks
Jealous of your setup! Great video! Keep up the great work! I love the cages!
Madd’⚜️DoPe Presentation King👑 ✊🏽‼️
Great video since I’ll be shooting lots of video on my new 15. Just FYI, A hot shoe has power from the camera used to power à flash used on old cameras. You have a “cold shoe” just designed for mounting stuff.
Finally upgrading from an iPhone 7Plus to iPhone 15 ProMax…think I’ll notice the difference significantly. Plan on using this one to film events
I really like this video. I don't have the iPhone 15 or even an iPhone, your video kinda makes me want one. Especially that video quality. Wow.
Excellent work, Sir!
the JJC cage is definitely a buy for me
Thank you! Very helpful
Brilliant tips thanks man.
Thanks for this review my dude!
Very informative. Thank you so much YCImage ❤😊
Great video man! Thanks for sharing
@maxsejourphotography my fav gear was the Rode Mic and then the Moment Mag holder. Great video.
Love this guy! Great presenter!
Hey thanks! Do you know if there is a usb-c adapter/splitter that allows you to use a usb-c mic and power the phone at the same time for long indoor interview shoots for instance?
Just got a iPhone 15 pro max. I'd be grateful for anything lol Excited to take advantage of the camera. Keep up the videos .
Damn, your video examples look great.
I would love to try the usb microphone you demoed! My first time to your TH-cam channel… great work! Subscribed!
I just found your channel, and just got my iPhone 15 pro and did a short video for a company today…seeing the moment cage is making me think I need one! I love that you shared a cheaper option but how are you liking the moment cage? Would you recommend buying it now that you probably have used it a bit since this video? Do you notice if it is better with stabilization compared to the cheaper option? I hope that makes sense, it’s been a long day but I was excited to find your channel!😊
Lens hood great for aquariums! 🐟
Very informative Chris, thanks so much. I'm actually starting a videography gig and thinking of using these accessories for an iphone 14 pro max.
Are you considering giving the accessories oversees to the UK ?
It's a little bit cheeky, but thought i'd ask anyway.
Love. Keep up the great content
What a great video review.....thank you !
A cage or rig is better be heavy as it provides more stability. Some rigs even allow adding more weight to them for this purpose. Adding accessories around it should help with that.
Super helpful. Ty for ur time. 🙏
Brb, placing an order😅 these are game changers
Thanks Chrystopher, for producing this video! I found it extremely helpful.
I'm on the verge of transitioning from pro video to mobile cinematography. My goal is to have a rig that can not only support my iPhone 15 Pro Max but also comes equipped with a spot for an SSD Hard Drive that seamlessly connects to the USB-C port. I'm also on a quest to determine if it's possible to use the USB-C port for both recording 4K video on the SSD HD and capturing sound on the phone using an external microphone.
Cheers, Bill
so i have the new phone and have a mic and ssd going through a usb c dock. It works but with one problem. It needs to have power delivery. The iphone cant power my mic and ssd at the same time. But once i have power in through my power bank, it works flawlessly.
@@ianjohnson1009 Sounds great! Which usb c dock do you use? Can you mount the iPhone, the usb c dock, the SSD, the mic and the power bank all in one rig? How?
I use the 11 in 1 dock from belkin. and then I use the smallrig universal phone rig to mount everything to. I did use zip ties at first to mount the dock onto it, but now I've cleaned it up by using velcro cable ties to fasten it. It sounds really janky but it's actually not going anywhere. From there I can plug anything I want into the phone. I just use my power bank to bring power into the dock. So I keeps my phone charged and all of the stuff powered. For a microphone, I just use a cold shoe mount because the rig has cold shoe mounts on it. So to recap I have the phone, mic, and power bank in one rig, the ssd and power bank I have in my backpack and then cables just run over to it. all in all its like 500 or 600 bucks. Next im going to get the new anamorphic lens from moment and then it'll be done. If you have any questions just ask me I think ive figured it all out.@@MVEProducties
@@ianjohnson1009 Thanx for your reply! Sounds very interesting. Which kind of mike do you use? Do you want to use (ND) filters and lenses? Which brands? Let us know once you have made some great videos with it. I am considering this myself to use 😀
Great video. Thanks for the honest review.
Great video! What SSD are you using for prores?
Great Show of Accessories!!
What’s your sound set up for recording dialogue or interview where you don’t want to see the mic? Any hidden levalier mic on wire or wireless or what do you recommend ? Thanks! I’m liking your videos!!
Your stuff is amazing. keep it up.
Congratulations on a great video!!
Any tips for shooting log via black magic with an ND filter (i ordered the polar pro one) in high light snowy mountains? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated as I’m very new to shooting in log and want to make the most of an upcoming Alaska trip.
I watch way too much, TH-cam… and I wanted to tell you that your content is top notch… ❤
Hey, I could use the filter mount!! Thanks
Wow nice gadgets for filmmaking. I’m excited to use it with my newly 1tb iPhone pro max. Appreciate your ideas. Thanks and best regards.😊
moment winning with the accessories for mobile content great video and thanks for sharing and creating great content! 💯
Cool stuff, thanks for the effort. Will pick up the mic.
do u use an usbc splittero record on ssd and use the rode microphone? what kind of splitter?
@Rxexj you’ve inspired me to try to take on light videography/photography
Hi YCImaging, did you have any over-heating experience while shooting short Log Videos on your iPhone15?
perfect video thanks !!
I wonder if you can use a usb-c split and have the microphone in and a external hard drive for log out
Excellent presentation. I will subscribe!
Love the cage ❤
Very informative. Thanks for the info. I’m interested in the Rode USB C mic. Also looking for mounts for my SSD. The Mag Safe is a good idea for mounting a SSD drive, I use the small rig cage. Another point I’d like for you to address is USB Hubs
Thanks for the video. I'm looking for how to connect an SSD drive and a mini Mic RODE external microphone to my iPhone 15 PRO. Might you help me? Thank you
Great video! Thank you!!
Great video super informative super easy to follow along and understand great links to purchase everything well done. I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max and it’s just an amateur get really good pictures but definitely could use some extra attachments. Thank you again keep making great videos for all of us newbies
Question with the log footage can one set the color temperature and iso? Biome is speaking to this or is the phone using auto
Nice video! Good info. Very informative and well done!
Can you provide links for the car mount set up you showed please? Not sure if I can buy it as one unit or its separate pieces. Thanks!
Hi, Does it maintain its pixel quality on a Imax movie screen?
If you use the JCC magnetic adapter and put the camera 0.5, you can see the edge of the JCC adapter?
Regarding the MagSafe Cage, have you experienced filming anything vertically for stuff like instagram, tiktok, shorts?
I really hate clamps that pinch the front screen, I much prefer the Freewell approach that uses a custom cast with lens and filter adaptors. I like that Rode USB C mic.
Got the new moment case but they still don’t have the new snap on filter mount on their site yet! :(
Would any of these accessories work for the iPhone 15, non-pro models.
Cool video like always. I remember watching him when I was in high-school like damn I want to shoot music videos like him. Lol fast forward a few years I still haven't shot a music video 😂. But, I still forward to shooting one in the future. I just picked up my New iphone and that cage and filters would be dope to use.
