    It’s been yrs but I always left the power on and used a bit of right rudder with wings level and pitch the same. When you’d get a good slide you’d hear the prop growl and the plane would flip over. Your videos are great, thanks for sharing.

      I’m going to give that a try. I read the chapter in better aerobatics and I think I need to slightly raise my left wing

    Your videos keep getting better and better man. This is a really cool insight into acro. It’s cool to see how nimble those planes are.

      Thanks Ed, it’s been a lot of fun making these videos and getting feedback on what I can improve on

    I really like your videos, they're really inspiring! It's really hard to find this kind of content, not focused on popularity, but showing the story, improvements, and difficulties. I also really like aviation, and aerobatics. I've been dreaming of becoming a pilot for a while 😊 Keep the good work!

      Thank you Fabien, honestly it’s comments like this that make me want to keep making videos. Other pilots inspired me a ton early on through TH-cam, so the fact that I have an impact on you is super meaningful. Thank you Fabien

    You said it...everything seems easier in the Pitts. It is.

    • @alexandercoats
      @alexandercoats  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It really is! The pitts just has more feel. Well maybe I just know the feel better. I’m definitely not “one with the edge” yet

    Set the little bit positive straight off your pull up. If you do it later the judges will see it and know exactly how much positive you set it. If you do it off the pull up they will not know exactly how much.
    The problem your having every time is left wing going low before the slide. If you cant control it, then set it left wing high on your upline. Then it deteriorates the same but ends up correct as it starts sliding
    Again do this all the way up the line so they dont know how much youre cheating.
    😂😂 keep up the practice and videos. Great fun to watch.

      I went back and read the tailslide chapter in Better Aerobatics and it said the same thing you just said. I didn’t realize it was a wing low situation. I ended up going up yesterday and practicing a couple different new techniques and I found exactly what you are saying to be true

    Rob is...in my opinion, the best in the game right now. That MX2 of his is just stupid capable as well. He makes it look like a 3D RC plane at times. I've been practicing tail slides with my Hangar 9 Christen Eagle. I have them looking good, much easier with a model though. It looks like you got it really close. Can you back off the power, but not near as much and let it torque roll on the way down?

    • @alexandercoats
      @alexandercoats  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I can, I’ve been told by a couple people to keep a touch of power in and the fact that I’m falling left is because my left wing is low. So I’m correcting with a touch of left rudder (while falling backwards)

    • @ModelAV8RChannel

      @@alexandercoats Makes sense. This may not translate to a full scale, but in my mind I'm thinking just below what it takes to hover. That way I have flow over the surfaces to give me some control, but I'm falling backward still. Also, one thing that I notice is when I see someone doing it at an airshow, the prop is cavitating loudly. Same with my models. That only happens with power I think.

    You don’t need aileron or rudder if you set it up well before. Keep left wing “high” as power off will drop it instead of rudder correction ;)

      @@alexandercoatsyeah i feel the exact same, especially just before the slide. Try cutting power a bit earlier, maybe, so it wont torque so much

    I've always been curious: If you're practice area is 10-15min away from the field do you take off with some fuel in a wing tank and run it dry before switching to the acro tank? If so do you actually run it until the engine sputters to get the tank as empty as possible?

    • @alexandercoats
      @alexandercoats  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I just top of the acro tank (17 gallons), I keep the flights short. 20 minutes or so. I land with around 8 gallons in the tank.
