My husband & I were suppose to have multiple stops in Scotland on a Disney Cruise in 2017 but we had to cancel due to his cancer diagnosis . We were very upset not to be able to go. My mother in law was born in Glasgow but moved to USA when she was 8.
My husband passed away a year later so we never made it to Scotland.

I am very sorry to hear of your loss . My Mom was born in Inverness and came to Canada after WW2 . She also passed from cancer as did my Gran who was from Knockando Sc. and my Great -Gran was from Edinburgh. I hope one day you will be able to make that trip as one day I would love to see where my family is from

The Hills in the background are the Pentlands and the nearby peak is Arthur's Seat. Plenty nice walks there for Sherpa on his next visit. Glad you enjoyed visiting the city where I was raised.
I second that opinion you and Sherpa would love walking through Queens Park aka Arthur Seat had some beautiful views the Peak of Arthur Seat is over 800ft above sea level and both the Castle Rock and Arthur Seat are extinct Volcano. There are plenty of beautiful walks through the Pentland Hills to the south of the city 20 miles of hills. There is also a picturesque village called Swanston Village with beautiful thatched cottages and Highland cattle and sheep to keep you company as you walk in the hills. Hopefully you come back to Edinburgh soon.

this amazes me. i have been to scotland last time in 1997 when i was 18. After around 20 seconds i had a glimps, after a minute i knew it was Edingburgh. And its 24 years ago... And yet i visited Edinburgh only for 2 days i totally fell in love. All of Scotland is a secret love affair in my heart. The people, the land .... epic and wonderfull. The 2 of you are lovly together, i hope you will stay a duo for many years to come.

At 1:11 Jamie wonders why Sherpa didn't say hello. At 1:13 he tells him to say hello. At 1:15 Sherpa roars hello. At 1:24 Sherpa woooos as usual. At 1:26 Jamie shushes him. Sherpa, you need to sit your human best friend down and have a long, long talk with him how completely, all over the place confusing he can be at times. You could suggest he take himself off to stand in the naughty corner for a few hours of reflection. You also deserve extra treats this time, file it under " Request for Confusion Compensation from my very lovable but too often bewildering buddy".
Sherpa so cute dreaming of all the places he has visited, as with all major city's it is were the most historical buildings are and they are beautiful.
Jamie you need to get one of those fold down dog drinking 'bowl' attachments. That you can clip onto the water bottle for Sherpa to drink out of when you are on walks.

Ah , I wondered if it may be Greyfriars Bobby you were going to see
When I was there we had a guide who explained that the open space below and behind the castle is when they did mass burials of the many who died in the great plague outbreak. That was part of where you were walking towards the end. As a kid I read the story of the faithful little dog who daily visited the grave of his beloved master until he died so they buried him there next to him. So sweet. Thanks for the tour of one of my favorite places
Scotland is absolutely amazing! Thanks so much for wandering there and sharing it with us, Jamie and Sherpa. I particularly enjoyed Greyfriar's Bobby, the Witchy Tour (just that it exists!), the architecture, cemeteries, bagpipes, escape artist, your sunbath with the one big ray extending down directly to you, and people who were friendly to Sherpa. All in all, excellent canine travel journalism. ^5 boys. Hope you get to do it again in the different seasons, maybe even bring Sister Sarah along.

I thought you were looking for the Mackenzie poltergeist tomb at first 🤣 You walked past it at 11:14 - that graveyard used to be a ravine once, and it’s got so many people buried in it that it’s now a hill. Incredible place.

My girlfriend (and now wife for 29 years) and myself visited Edinburgh on our InterRail tour in 1990. Just a short stopover, but we instantly said, "that's definitely a place we will come to visit again". Never happened so far ... but STILL a place we would go to if the opportunity arises.
