I would have hoped this to have under screen camera(s) though. I can't stand the pill shaped cut out 😫😂. I know that under screen cameras have lower image quality but I rarely use them. And with AI optimized dehaze / sharpening the quality should be reasonably good.
All these companies are trying for different ways to present their camera modules just for the sake of making it look different. Next up it will be a camera on every corner at the back. 🤣
@Alter Ego very lucky because Huawei was going to be no. 1 smart phone brand by the end of 2020 if with Google services. Both apple and Samsung are lucky. Also more competition is always good.

Really hope after the US elections, most of their restrictions would be lifted or they're given a chance for appeal. Remember that all of these three giants not only makes smartphones, but other electronics and products as well. Samsung makes TVs, washing machines and basically all of these electronic devices. Apple makes tablets, macbooks (laptops) and macs (the computer). Huawei is also like Samsung being that they also make various electronics. We say that Huawei is Samsung's nightmare because of the fact that Huawei was passing them at everything when it came to the smartphone business. But they drew the short end of the stick and couldn't work with US companies anymore. Samsung is just providing the parts. Since Huawei sells so much devices, they have no reason to turn down their offer just because they were going to pass them in sales. It's the smartphone business we're talking about, not selling parts or other electronics.
Even better on Iphone 12, now they use the same design since 2010. I had a thought of switching iphone 12 from my P20 Pro, but after the relase, I was like, hum, fuck this shit again.

I own the Mate 20 X 4G and has to say it's the best phone i ever owned, kinda making me wanna stay on that all the time. Shame to see such a great phone like Mate 40 Pro getting crippled by lack of Google support, but it's still a hell of a phone and i would buy it regardless.
also a p40p user here but I cant stop using YTmusic because of my streaming history, but luckily I found the perfect solution from github, have a try with the vanced manager, it will allow u to use apps smoothly without gms. Now I am just waiting for the new map app from Huawei, that's the most exciting thing I found during their recent launch event.

The 50MP ai mode is a game changer, idk why it wasn't mentioned. I use it all the time even at night, the camera experience here is unmatched even in 2022!
If this phone had google services...and samsung didnt release that Fan Edition...huawei wouldve won the market even as slow as it is right now..they wouldve won...their Mate 40 pro + is their "Ultra phone" and you get wayyy more bang for your buck with their "Ultra phone" compared to samsung specs and pricing

Great job at not only being first but not cutting corners just for the sake of being first. Love Huawei’s hardware. If only Google would put Huawei’s hardware in one of their Pixel lines it would be perfect but Google just skimps out on a raw hardware and just slaps some clever processing on top of their images which ,while great, really isn’t the best Google can do.
Honestly if the lack of Google on an extremely good phone is making you ignore it, then some alarm bells should be going up in your head about your addiction to Google ... just saying
I think there are a lot of apps has to run with GMS. It’s a limit set by google to ensure its control over the the eco system. To blame individual users is not so fare.

I hesitated to buy Huawei phones because of the Google services issue, but now that I have Huawei Mate 40 Pro I am convinced that I can live without Google on my phone. There are great alternatives to the services I use such as calendar, excel, translator, etc. Not everyone will be fine with it, but I definitely am. I love everything about my mystic silver Mate 40 pro.
I'm getting a Mate 40 Pro in November during Black Friday sales. The P50 doesn't have a charger which is a bummer, and who knows if It'll release globally.
This brand has a good resale value in Pakistan but after gps ban people and want to buy this phone like before but I still love their mobile. I have a great experience with this brand In past .
well most people uses apps only available on google play store and apple... Huawei's own app store even though its growing exponentially it still lacks the popular apps especially most of those apps are again, owned by google. For example youtube, the most you can get in this phone is a direct web link... and netflix.. lol.. Then again people figured out how to install google play store in the P40.. so its just a matter of time before people figure out in this one.
@@erickrayos I haven't used TH-cam app since forever. TH-cam Vanced is my go to for videos and YMusic for streaming music from TH-cam, without the video stream eating my megabytes when I'm on cellular connection. Both Apps, for obvious reasons are not in the Play store, but are one Google search away.

Imagine how great this would be with Play Services... Top of the line chipset, 5G+high refresh rate screen+great battery life. It's amazing how great Huawei's lead is. Not to mention the cameras, which stand heads and shoulders above other devices.
If this phone had Google Services and Playstore... it would have been BY FAR the best Smartphone of 2020. It isn't even funny how much Huawei is just absolutely destroying competition in terms of camera, design and specs. I'm glad to see they are not giving up.
I have been a long time user of Huawei and Honor mid-range series and I really love the brand, however, I rely too much on Google Apps and services. I really hope that they could squash this restriction.

There is an upgrade. It is cheaper, even if you add the missing buds and charger. Abd the Lidar for watching p*rn. That's all.

There is, TH-cam Vanced is actually better with no ads, picture in picture mode and can play videos/audio from videos with the screen off.
