  • After trying 3 different Sabvotons, I have come the the firm conclusion that something is up with the one I bought... Weirdly the first one I try out here has the same issues which makes me think it's a production/batch issue? Or just coincidence? Anyway, I finally have a controller which I know works to test with until I get one from someone who is upgrading their SVMC200 in autumn.
    I only had ramp up issues on the first controller in the video above about 70A where it starts at about that and goes up gradually to whatever it's set to.
    Will keep the channel posted with any further updates!

      Looks like they've stopped selling it. Here's the same model on aliexpress that you can get with or without an LCD bit.ly/3I9SRIa

    I have a 72200 Sabvaton controller and I haven’t had an issue with the one I had before but this time it just keeps saying communication error 30h . Can anyone please give me a solution to why this could be happening.?

    • @EverythingEbikeChannel
      @EverythingEbikeChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe that means the throttle at rest is higher than the minimum throttle voltage set so it disables itself to protect the bike from shooting off.

    I don't know why most high-power electric bike users insist on sabvoton.
    There are a lot of high-power controllers.
    The more features you have, the more likely you are to get errors.
    Just buy a controller that has only simple functions.
    Once you have set the perfect settings, you won't need to change the controller's settings anymore,
    so it's a waste of money to buy a complicated controller like a expensive sabvoton.

      At the time of making, it was the only brand I'd really heard of as you say a lot of other people use them. I have now learned they are not the best so will keep the one I have for now my eye on the market and browse around.

      Yes absolutely, I reset them and tried everything. It works now but just takes a minute to 'warm up' after turning on then is ok

    Ppl could die if the chain on the bike freezes up. Always oil it I guess

      Are you referring to the bike chain? If that seizes up the bike just won't move when I pedal mate 😂

      Could be close to 60mph with high flux weakening. Letting you down with the low battery voltage there! 😂

    I feel your pain. I bought a sabvoton 6 years ago when they were genuine sabvoton. I sold it.
    Bought another and there all replicas and awful.. asi bac 4000 or 8000 I think

    • @EverythingEbikeChannel
      @EverythingEbikeChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately I've heard quite a few people saying they're having trouble with their sabvotons recently so clearly something's changed. I know the design has been around for a long time but as you say either replicas or poor QC. I'll look into alternatives if I do another build...

      @@EverythingEbikeChannel I've been reading the same, many people are saying they're unreliable, and enough to the point where I said forget it and just investing into a nucular 24f for my latest build. It's much smaller, far more advanced, and Ladi runs 27kw through them on his cyberbike builds no problem, so worth the extra cost

    • @EverythingEbikeChannel
      @EverythingEbikeChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep I tried 3 different ones. The first one seemed a bit faulty with my multimeter but the other two were fine so no reason why they wouldn't work

  • @hightech-lowlife
    @hightech-lowlife 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Glad you got it figured out, all it took was 3 different controllers! Maybe there was a QC issue with those older ones, you can tell the one that worked is a new controller (V2) because they changed the mounting hole locations.

    • @phylaxxx
      @phylaxxx 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My V2 controller had issues that were similar to his but more annoying because it would cause the motor to judder at high speeds almost like desync.

    • @hightech-lowlife
      @hightech-lowlife 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@phylaxxx Thankfully I haven't experienced any controller issues with the myriad of controllers I have experienced, I guess if I had to pick I'd rather have controller issues than motor issues, it's a bit easier to swap out, still a pain though.

    • @EverythingEbikeChannel

      That's why I wondered if it's a production issue, I'll stay away from the V1s in the future!

    I have a sabvoton 150 on my bike and recently broke the screen which meant I had to use the bike without the UKC1 screen and it went into power level 1, I also note on mine power level 1 is very erratic, almost unusable the higher the settings I run. The fix I found was setting the sabvoton to hard start in the app not 3 level switch or boost etc just hard start. I since fixed the screen and still leave in hard start and the screen computer overrides with lowering power but I cn now unplug it and it comes on full (app settings) power.

    • @EverythingEbikeChannel
      @EverythingEbikeChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's annoying about your screen, but I've tried hard start and it didn't make a difference 😒

    Welcome back to the hundred amp plus club 😂 I have a savoton that wouldn't let me go over 50 amps I did do Tony's from vortec controller hack got me 75 amps but I still had to buy another savoton 150 unlocked version programmed in the United States and my bike rocks one of us needs to learn how to reflash these controllers I think but anyway fantastic video catch you on the next one

  • @phylaxxx
    @phylaxxx 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Maybe this is a sign to use a different controller. Seems like Sabvoton issues are popping up all over the place (including mine). They're really nice then they work but its nice to know your bike will turn on and work properly when you go to use it.

    • @EverythingEbikeChannel
      @EverythingEbikeChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm unfortunately it does. I think they've been using the same design for over a decade which means it should be tried and tested, but maybe their QC isn't up to much?

    • @EverythingEbikeChannel
      @EverythingEbikeChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Me too unfortunately. I read all the comments on my videos and am hearing about increasingly more people have issues, especially recently, so think either there are a lot more clones around or the QC has dropped off...

    Hello !
    I’ve seen your videos struggling with the Sabvoton Controller , I’m building an E-bike with a Sabvoton Controller myself and maybe your problem could be “Under-voltage” . Correct me if I’m wrong but i think you have a 72v150A.
    And I think the Sabvoton is not made for your kind of Battery setup wich is a bit of a rarity (with “only” 56Volts).
    Even if you can set the voltage you like in the setup program maybe the voltage of battery is to low for the controller to work correctly.
    Normally with a 72v Battery setup the lowest voltage limit is 50v and in your test ride video’s it seems that the power is cutting off every time you get below the 50v-range. And in the last test you made, you have better results maybe because you fully-charged your battery and as a result your battery-voltage is a bit higher so the controller works better.
    So maybe your Sabvoton isn’t broken.
    It would be nice if you could somehow do a test drive with 72volts.
    I could be wrong, only trying to help.
    Otherwise keep up the nice Videos 👍 and don’t give up.😉

    • @EverythingEbikeChannel
      @EverythingEbikeChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought it was that as well at first, but I've set it to 0v and still have the issue. The controller is meant to work down to 36v and the new one works fine so I'm afraid it's deffo a controller issue

    Hi , seems you know how to sus many problems , I need a bit of help finishing mine , I bought a 8000w 72v 150a Enduro ebike from china ,I wanted a complete bike , then they said because of Brexit could not send complete , so agreed to build the bike from bits , got the bike in may , guess what no assembly instructions and no wiring diagram .anyway I finished the build , watched some videos , managed to get the company to sent some pics of the sabvocon wires , but the wires had differant colours and some connectors didn't match . I have fitted the wires from the hub to sabvocon and connected the back light , I have key with wires fitted , and a rectifier/regulator , but the head light I don't know were to wire to , and I have 2 black wires from brake lever left and 2 for the right , but as on wires for brake have 3 blue separate wires from sabvocon 1 female small black 1 male small black connector and 1 loose blue wire, so if you have any ideas , in connecting the headlight and brakes , and key , and rectifier/regulator , am stuck , help please . Doug

    • @EverythingEbikeChannel
      @EverythingEbikeChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Doug, there are so many variations of the sabvotons that it's going to be hard to tell, but I'll give it a go!
      The brake levers have a switch inside them so the two wires coming out of each side get connected together when the lever is pulled. On my sabvoton, there are two wires called High brake (purple) and Low brake (yellow). The brake wires from both sides can have one wire connected to either of these and then 12v for the high brake wire or 0v for the low brake wire.
      The key switch should be an orange wire from the sabvoton that connects to the battery positive somehow. I just added a wire to the red terminal of the sabvoton and connected that to one side of a switch, and the orange wire to the other side.
      With the headlight, I don't think the sabvoton can deal with that so the way to hook that up would be to use a relay to connect it to the 12v regulator, then get a switch for the handlebars to turn it on and off.
      Hope this helps and give me a reply if you need any further clarification.

      hi , re brakes , the 2 wires from brakes each side 1 wire has white dashes along the wire ! , . from the sabvoton I have 2 wires 1 purple 1 black , they go into a small black male connector and is the low brake , then I have 1 red wire from sabvocon to a female white connector that is 2 wire connector but only 1 wire going to it this is high brake , so how to connect brake left 2 wires and right brake 2 wires , . i hope this makes sense , I bought some Chinese small connectors but don't know the name of the white connectors they use . Thanks Doug,
