Warm the tyre first will help. Use soap on the rim and important to make sure the tyre is fitted the right way round. Many tyres have to be fitted a certain way round for the tread to work properly. If it does have to be fitted a certain way round it will be marked on the side of the tyre
@@EverythingEbikeChannel Mix up some soapy water and use a spray bottle. It's will dry out eventually. Don't have to put a ton, just to make it more slippery :)
@@EverythingEbikeChannel yea besides you dont use that much water you use more soap then water for the amount needed it evaporates fairly fast and you just need enough to lube the rim by time you get done its usually all gone it just makes it go on easier. When i did my tires i used plastic tire levers from a bicycle kit for the last 3-4 inches but up till that point i had no problem putting my tires on by hand. And yes iv got motorcycle tires as long as you got some lube on rim its easy+ less chance of marring the rubber on the tires if you go tubeless
Hey, loving your build! I've recently put one of these through the MSVA test myself. A bit of advice for you, make sure you use brakes that have documentation stating an adequate speed and weight rating, that was the main problem I had with mine. I ended up putting the sur-ron brakes on mine, but tektro dorado would also be acceptable. Another thing is that the brakes need to have ball-end levers (but if you're planning on having pedals there's a clause that says this isn't compulsory I think). I can't actually see what brakes you're running so apologies if you were already aware of this. Keep up the awesome vids! If you want to see my build check out my insta f.g.s.c.1
Awesome, someone else who's done this! Shimano brakes are temporary at the moment. I've skim read the manual and am aware of the brake rules, got some Tektro brakes that will work and are the same as Andy Kirby's if you know his channel.
@@EverythingEbikeChannel So once it passes the msva test they give you a type approval certificate. You then send a form to the dvla requesting to register the bike, along with that certificate and copies of your ID and proof of address. That's the stage I'm currently at. They then send you another certificate in the post (they said it would take 8 weeks), which allows you to get your plate made up.
It also might help warming up the tyre before hand. It makes the rubber more pliable (softer)
Meant to mention that actually, good tip! Will pin this comment so others can see it

Great little vid, some useful tips.
You make the job look easy 👌
Haha, well I'm afraid it wasn't 😂 Thanks tho
This will be very helpful when that dreaded moment comes and I havevto finally change the tires..Thanks bro for the awsome video👍🏽
I'm hoping I don't have to do this again for a looong time, fingers crossed!
@@EverythingEbikeChannel 😆 I completely understand bro..lol
a little bit of washing up liquid on the tyre rim will make fitting a lot easier
I've heard of that, but then you would end up with liquid in the tyre?
@@EverythingEbikeChannel It will evaporate
@@Extile00 Oh ok, might try it next time. Thanks

Spray a light mist of wd40
you know a little soapy water would make that so much easier
People have pointed that out, originally didn't like the idea of water staying in the tyre but apparently it evaporates so isn't an issue.

Great vid! How much does that tire weigh?
Didn't measure it on it's own, but I know the weight of the other parts so around 3.1kg. Does that sound right?
Which hub are you using in your wheel?
3kw Alien Power Systems motor. But basically the same as MXUS 3kw or similar
@@EverythingEbikeChannel I was thinking on you front wheel ahs
@@crazyexperiments4815Doh! 🤦♂️Vector hub vectorebike.com/bike/other/disc-front-hub. You have to email them and they will sort it out.
What is the rim width?
They're called 85x18 but the actual width between each bead is about 54mm
@@EverythingEbikeChannel Do you think 1.85x18 rim fits the 80/90-18 tires?
@@shadoworkz123 Is 1.85" the width from bead to bead? If so I reckon that would work based on the dimensions of mine

@@EverythingEbikeChannel Yeah I'm just waiting for my plate certificate at the moment! Ah nice, those should work just fine then.
@@Fred_FPV Very exciting! What happens once it passes the MSVA, do you then register it somehow or do you go straight to a number plate?
