After a year of renting an RV trailer, the landlord raised the rent by $300. I gave my notice to vacate. Two weeks later, my job department was pink slipped. Spent 21 days living in the back of my two door Jeep Wrangler as a 63 year old woman in winter. I am now back on my feet and independent again because two male elementary school teachers had mercy on me and gave me free rent for a couple of months. Thank you, Brett and James. ❤

This is so sad. I did everything right: never did anything wrong in high school, got straight A's, scholarship to college, got a job with benefits and a pension and 401(k). Also, had children but got divorced. When families break-down, it is so destructive. We need intact families, preferably with at least one parent with a good-paying job that provides health insurance coverage, to survive in today's economy. My kids are 25 and 27 years old. I am still supporting them financially, and I am happy to do so. For many, many years, they hated and resented me for "choosing work over them." Now that they recognize just how much it costs to make a life in the USA, they are a whole lot nicer to me. I am so, so sad for everyone that does not have family that can help.

This dude's story is almost identical to mine. Craziness. Man I have a college degree, had a good job, money in the bank and the Great Recession took everything from me. I had to live in my truck and had the IRS levy all my cash. Couldn't find a good job because my credit was bad and I had a federal lien. Couldn't even open up a checking account. Then I was not able to find a place to live because of bad credit and a foreclosure on my credit. Today, studios go for $1500 in the nice buildings. The not so nice units in older buildings go for $1200. You’re right, back in the day it was much easier to do wish you need to do. After rent, repairs, and food with zero luxuries I would be left with a few measly hundred dollars. God forbid I have a medical emergency because I'll be bankrupt.
I only lucked out when family offered me to live with them outside of the city where the pace of life is MUCH slower. I moved back with family, took a lesser job and was able to transition to my own practices. I don't make nearly as much as when I was working in tech, but cost of living is a LOT lower and I get more free time for myself. If you have arthritis I would suggest trying to not eat vegetables from the nightshade family for at least a 3 month period to see if that may be the cause. Avoid fully tomatoes, white potatoes, eggplant, peppers and others you can google. Nightshade to some people like myself cause inflammation which attacks the joints.

This is true. I have two masters degree. The worst part is that I have applied to more than 1000 jobs and I dont even get a reply. I have also a military background and experience. I dont understand why I dont get replies or even an opportunity to interview.
