You were right not to get carried away and bid. Sadly online auction bidding has been great for the auction house, but not for buyers. Better luck next time.
In big auction you can see when the people in the hall stop bidding, you saw it here as well they stopped at the true assesed value, if your online bid goes against some hall "opponent" bid then you're good to spend a little extra to secure the online buy, but ALWAYS second 3rd and 4th guess yourself because it might even be that those are the only gears working on a car you never seen.
Much respect for knowing when yere asses were kicked and especially at an auction it's not frustrating it's nearly heartbreaking when you find a gem and it goes mad like that, the market is really gone to shite

A little while back on the e30 reddit, there was some discussion on rust on e30 roofs and basically it came down to that you have to be really really careful when purchasing an e30 with a rusty roof. I didn’t believe it initially but eventually the other guy really made a good statement. Comes down to that you might need to replace the complete roof, which is incredibly hard. 10k is waaaaay too much for this car…
@@bigduphusaj162 I don't know about e30 pricing in the UK but at least in my country a sorted 325i mtechII e30 coupe is like 25-30 grand minimum. This car is basically a massive gamble, definitely not junk though. You might get it running for "cheap" if you get lucky and make massive profit, or you might get stuck with it and it's worthless. But then again I have no clue what these are worth in the UK.
Best case that needs 10k spending on it, and its still a repo without any paperwork. Worst case the engine needs a load of work too and it owes someone WAAAAAAy more than its worth once done. Alex and Taylor in shock sensible not buying something shock!

Where is the "possessed" in repossessed? If your car is owned by the bank via credit or collateral and you have the paperwork at home but do not pay for the car and they take it back, how tf would you be legally entitled to get it back from the guy who buys it here? The car has a vin and it was signed somewhere in a contract that repossession is allowed, moment where the bank now legally owns it and can sell it to an auction like this. The old paperwork is void as the car's vin will always show the reposession and new owner. At least thats how it is in my country. Why is the UK different? Someone can just get a loan to buy this car (new), not pay a dime, then when the bank comes and takes it back and sells it he can just go to the new guy and legally take it back and basically have a free car? Someone gotta help me understand this. Cant sell cars without paperwork in my country idk.
You can apply for a V5C at the Post Office. I don't know why there is a common misconception that it is difficult. Dodged that one, the repair and replacement bills from just their cursory inspection was making it look uneconomical. But thats the price of nostalgia today.
@@jerzywoking1699 you can apply for a logbook yourself with a V62. The registered keeper can say no. If their car has been repo'd they might still say no and you can't have a logbook and can't drive it on the road.
Until the auction started, I genuinely though you were talking about £hundreds when you said hopefully under 7. I wouldn’t pay over a grand for that and have now learned how wrong I am about values of old drug dealer crapboxes.

I bought it Alex. Long story, my missus was still in the boot so had no choice really as she had the keys & address to the new lockup where all the 'stuff' was hidden. Thz loads on autotrader for way less than this.
I’d definitely love more stuff like auctions and some more down to earth stuff on Autoalex v2, it was really enjoyable and chilled watching you guys just walk around find some great cars, still having a laugh but yeah great content mate

Funnily enough, I have the key to an E30 but not the car. It was a 320i which belonged to my dad but he woke up one day back in the 90's a noticed he'd been relieved of it in the night.
As soon as you said 325i sport I said it was a 10k car all day long, prices are only going one way, every year there’s less and less and the are great for turning into competition cars. E36 prices are soaring as well. It’s almost like ICE cars are being banned and people are getting peak enthusiasts cars from the 80s and 90s whilst they still can. Sorted come 2035 that will be a 50k car
@@rich_edwards79 To be fair 9 times out of ten they usually get raced because they are too unfit to go back on the road hence why they put loads of work into them from welding to new panels, but never structurally safe for the road as they are rotten. Good ones they find they usually sort out and keep. I think it’s better to have their last stretch around a track than to be weighed straight in
If its a Sport, £10K is cheap cheap for them now, even in that condition. After it has been gone through its easily a £20K car. Mint low mileage manual ones have gone through auctions at up to £50K. I think Taylor needs to brush up on his E30 prices. There was never a chance this was going for under 5K. The bodykit alone is probably worth that these days. In fact its likely worth the 10K in parts, without considering the value of the shell/VIN.

Sold my E30 316i auto last year, had her for 30 years the lad that now owns her brought her up to show standard
I have those same plates from the same manufacturer they’re not any old 4d plates, they can’t be read by ulez / ccz cameras that’s why owner has them

Auction prices have become ridiculous since online bidding. Most times the auction price is more than buying it on eBay or auto trader.
