Two years ago I switched to Kobalt yard tools, a blower, hedge trimmer, 40v edger, and weed grass trimmer, and I could not be happier! They all have worked flawlessly for me. Getting rid of all the gasoline stuff made my day!! Love not having the starting problems and gas/oil mixing.
This is the perfect video to watch. Real use of a tool. My driveway or sidewalks are not near as long as yours, but going through the heavy growth helps a ton! Thanks
I sharpened my blade. After that it was like cutting through butter. You can make your own blades w 1/8” x 2” mild steel. I made a ton of em at work for the guys
I don't blame you for not edging that long a*s driveway. Ain't trying to walk a mile edging. I've been looking at this edger for a few years now. Still deciding. Was impressed with how well it did with you. I have a lot of the kobalt lawn tools. I borrowed my bro in laws gas edger and it handled everything with like half a tank of fuel. And I loved the little rumble it gave me after using electric for everything else.
Thank you for this. I do have several Kolkat battery operated items. Just recently thought about purchasing this one. Your video was my deciding factor. I love the brand.
The edger is a tough one to justify. I’d love one, but realistically, I’d use it 2-3 times a year. Thanks for the video. I always wondered how well the Kobalt ones work.
I’ve been eyeballing this edger for a bit. I have the 40v weed eater and leaf blower combo. If I juggle 2 batteries should be a solid purchase. Thank you for the video
Wow great review and presentation i just wish they made it gear drive instead of direct drive motor gear drive has more torque and less strain to the motor its torque that you need to dig in in dirt mowing is different you need blade speed to whack the grass. Its amazing it did that much work for only 2.5ah a testament to the efficiency of a brushless motor.
I have the exact same edger. It really has one functional purpose: Edge along concrete driveways and walkways. I found its is not well suited for edging lawns when compared to string edger. My lawn edger has a slight angle to it (about 30 degree) and this edger has no way to adjust the blade cutting angle, it is limited to a vertical cut. You can lean it to get an angle, but is not as effective as string edger nor as easy to use if you want cut at an angle.
I've had the Kobalt lawn mower for several years had no idea about the battery level tester built in. Awesome thanks. Will my mower batter 40 v 4 ah work with this edger?
Mine came with a guide plate attached that makes it impossible to use. The guide plate extends beyond the wheel. Even if adjusted, the wheel can't be positioned to cut/edge anything.
Hate to tell you this brah but I just bought the same damn edger and for whatever STUPID ASS REASON, they welded a FUCKING METAL PLATE to the plate where the wheel is attached which- like you said, makes it impossible to use. I had to go to Loews and buy a grinder just to cut the extra plating off. You have to take the wheel off also FYI. Good luck...
Okay I thought it was just me. It makes it impossible to use like you said. I kept wondering what I was doing wrong. Everyone was just guiding it along calmly and i was lost on what I was doing wrong.
Well, respectfully so, I'm dying laughing typical man. Read the instructions first and you would know what the tools are for. Just like my husband LOL Thanks for the info

Purchased the Kobalt 40v edger, thanks to this informative video.

Thanks for sharing. I just bought the same one and was wondering if I assembled it properly and used it properly.

I use my edger every week.
This was just what I was needing to see! Have the lawn mower and weed Wacker. Now, I need the edger so I can reclaim my driveway lol.

How do you replace the blade?

My understanding is the 40v batteries work in any 40v tool they sell.
@@jodaddysworkshop786 thank you so much. Stay safe out there.
This definitely helped. This is perfect for the size of my property. Thanks.👍🏾

did you leave a review on lowes about this? did you ever fix the issues?

Thank you. This video will help in our purchasing decision.
Thanks for this vid, definitely needed this vid before I bought it
Extremely helpful! Thank you
Nice review, thank you.
Excellent video. Thank you
Awesome video, thanks for sharing 👍
Can you give a one (?) year update?
It’s still working fine.
What's the size of the bolt that locks the blade in place?
Wish I knew!!!
I'm able to use 3/4.
But I'm still trying to figure out how to get the blade off
@edc8751 you lock the circle with a screwdriver then use a wrench going opposite what is normal
Mine keeps shutting off
Take it back.

Sorry, it's a piece of crap.
