    Product Info:
    Model Number: 3809909
    Currently $249 at Lowes. (regular price $299)
    www.lowes.com/...
    6 AH Battery, 20 Inch, 40 Volt Kobalt Mower.
    Can use batteries from other 40v Kobalt Tools.
    This is the 'Gen4' Model
    I did not expect this to work nearly as well as it did, and really didn't plan on doing any Brush Hogging with it when I started out today.
    It did stall out a few times on the 2 foot tall grass mounds, but just restart it and keep on going.
    For the light brush near the end of the video, it would eat just about anything up to 1/2 inch thick. When it hit something big and stalled, just back it up and restart.
    The blade was in surprisingly good shape when I checked it after today's cutting.
    I have no doubt once the remaining brush is cleared out, this will be able to handle the 120x50 foot yard on a single charge.
    This was well worth the money and I'd highly recommend it.
    If you found this video helpful, and buy stuff on Amazon anyways, then I'd appreciate you using this link for your next purchase: amzn.to/3JtVbZm (Bully Tools are American Made and Great Quality)
    It will cost you nothing extra, and I'll make a few cents as a commission on your purchase.

    I watched this video 2 years ago when we bought our house and I decided to get this mower and matching weed eater.
    I 100% love this mower to this day. No maintenance other than changing the blade. It’s very light so there’s barely any fatigue after mowing. And it’s quiet, like a large fan. I just fire up the active noise reduction on my AirPods and listen to whatever I want since the mower noise is barely perceptible at that point.
    Thanks for the video!

    I bought my 40v 6ah battery kobalt yesterday, live in Florida where you have to mow just about every week in summer. Missed some weeks on vacation and my lawnmower broke previously so it was very high. Kobalt did very well. Big front yard and had battery to spare. So I'm very happy after first mow. Keep in mind has a 3 yr battery warranty and 5 yr mower warranty.

    I got this mower based on watching this video. I dont have an overly large yard and tend not to let grass get to long before cuts. I was surprised on how well it handeld it and how quiet it is. No regrets so far. Im also impressed that the deck on this is still metal while all other ones are all plastic.

      Just got back in from mowing. 2 years in and its still a beast.
      I'm still using it to take out the small trees that sprout up every spring, and I've hit stumps and half buried cinder blocks with it and haven't manage to kill it yet.
      I think because its electric it can turn off power much faster than a gas mower when it strikes a solid object and that is what saves it.
      The only thing that bogs it down is tall wet grass, and thats only because it can't discharge it fast enough.
      Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your new mower.

      @@TwoAcreHomestead I picked the weedeater that had the 4ah battery for $169, that battery alone cost $179, I have used it and very impressed with the mower and as you say just add up how many amp hours your yard size will take with batteries, we already had an early model battery Max 40 2ah from a leaf blower and it works in the mower, so I have 12 amp hours on hand to do a 3/4ac yard of grass, you will be tired long before this use up the 6ah Battery.

    Honestly i am not surprised it stopped in that high grass at times. How heavy that grass was would actually shut off some gas mowers too. It looks like it handled great.

      What I was cutting thru definitely would have choked out any push mower.
      Great thing about the electric is all I have to do is push a button to start it up again instead of pull starting it like a gas mower.
      The mower is still working great, and I'm still giving it a fair amount of abuse.

    Long as the grass is dry and you go slow on super thick/high areas it's a beast. Had mine 2 1/2 year so far. The bag holds a surprising amount and is def the best way to use it. Mower doesn't stop nearly as much from thicker areas due to grass build up waiting on discharge. Each time you restart the mower it uses like 3% of the battery at least on mine so one long go is the best.

    • @TwoAcreHomestead
      @TwoAcreHomestead  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for answering one of the questions that was in the back of my mind about battery usage. When I'm mowing the back woods I'd wonder if it was better just to leave it running while I freewheel over areas of already mowed or cleared or to turn it off and start it up when I get to the next patch. I figured the startup of the motor was eating a fair chunk of battery so usually I just leave it running.

    Bought this one Saturday, mulched my way through 115×45 ft 2 ft tall grass myself, filled up 7 garbage bags worth, so that's around 20 emptying of the net... Had to use 4 full charges on 2 days to accomplish but heavy humid mulch was draining the battery. BEAST. Of course it has a torque limit. Was wondering how the 80v does in those heavy use cases. Nyhow nice long charge in your demo

    • @TwoAcreHomestead
      @TwoAcreHomestead  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bagging seems to use a lot more battery than side discharge. After getting my yard knocked down I switched to bagging and I've noticed a decrease in run time. Its still long enough for me to finish the front of my property with some charge left over.
      Pretty sure once you get to 'normal' mowing your battery will do that space without any problems.

  • @arthurshagnasty4039
    @arthurshagnasty4039 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have a cat that follows me around when I'm on my yard with mine sometimes it gets on top of it and rides on it. So far I haven't had any issues with mine yes they do bogged down when you get a man's thick tall grass but then again so do the gas ones. And the thicker your grass and tolerate is the more batteries you'll run through. I have a big yard it takes 8 batteries to Mo aint batteries to mow mine for the 1st season if I let it get long. I've mowed it in as little as 4 batteries

    • @TwoAcreHomestead
      @TwoAcreHomestead  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Now that I've got the brush and thick stuff cleared, I can do the front of my property on a single 6AH battery and still have 2 of 4 bars left when I'm done. Brush hogging definitely eats the batteries faster, but I'm chewing thru the problem spots and so far this mower hasn't given me any problems.

      Not sure if 80v means more torque than the 40v units. I had other 40v Kobalt tools, so I wanted a mower that would share my existing batteries.
      Mine will cut off if it hits a really tall or tough patch, but it only take 2 seconds to fire it up again, so it really doesn't bother me. Pretty sure any mower will struggle with wet grass.

      That corn gas (ethonol) destroys gas mowers and weed whackers, thats the main reason why I'm all battery power for my yard tools now. Got tired of trying to learn small engine repair before each use.
      This Gen4 unit is a beast, and when you hit a stump or a brick it kills the motor so fast it doesn't seem to cause any damage. It also displays a code I've started to call 'the middle finger' when you hit something. :)
