    This is the greatest point of view I have had for a typing video. Loved the armrest mounts and loved the camera placement.

    Wow! However, life for me with such a setup would be different:
    Amazon driver rings the doorbell. I vigorously push my chair back to sprint to the door. The cable still attached violently rips the innards out of the Voyager. Get to the door, only to find I still missed him... and I now have to order another Voyager.
    Still, must say I'm very impressed. Nice 👍

      Thanks for the vivid imagery :D The Voyager being wired is a somewhat significant drawback in making it mount-friendly. It can be mitigated to a degree by using a longer trrs cable between the two halves, but still quite a hassle if you needed to move often between different setups (e.g. desk chair mount). Mine sits mostly on desk now, definitely not as comfortable as mounted though.

      @@bueny52 they have an FAQ page explaining their anti-wireless stance. I don't think it's happening anytime soon . I personally am fine with wired as the longevity of batteries and their health is not something I would like to concern myself with but do see the benefits of it being mounted.

    Can you share what mounts you used and how you attached them to your chair? I am going to get my Voyager tomorrow and I plan to have the same setup as yours

      I'm using Pro Signal 1290B monitor arm as the articulating arm. For the Voyager, you need to find a magnet that's strong enough to hold it to the vesa plate (both being metallic), but not too strong to make detaching difficult. The one used here is a 44mm-diameter, rubber coated, disc-shaped one with 6 small magnets embedded, which you can find on e.g. Amazon or AliExpress.
      The system in the video is originally set up for use with the quick-release mounting kit of the Glove80 keyboard, and for that to work, it has an additional vesa-to-tripod adapter, but I don't think that's necessary if you intend to use it with the Voyager only. However, if you did go with ZSA's official magnetic tripod mount, you'll need the vesa-to-tripod adapter.

      You can find the QR mechanism here: www.aliexpress.us/item/3256803441959565.html. There is an option with 2 base plates and 1 top plate.

    Looks like a fun new way to type. About how long would you say it took you to get used to typing on the Voyager?

      I've used columnar keyboards prior to this so not really much adjustment was needed. It did take me a week or so when I first moved from row-staggered to a columnar.

    Do you prefer this or the Glove80? And why?

    • @bueny52
      @bueny52  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The Voyager is an excellent keyboard, has hot swap, and is more compact for carrying around and travelling, but for extended period of work, I prefer the Glove80 for the following reasons:
      - I find key well to be more comfortable than column stagger even just for the 3x5 finger block. I think key well is probably more forgiving than column stagger for a wide range of hand variation between different people (different finger lengths etc.)
      - I find wireless to be more convenient when switching between different devices (work/personal computers, mobile devices, etc.) or moving around different places (different desks, chair mount, etc.)
      - Oryx (ZSA's UI for its QMK firmware) , as convenient as it is for setting up a basic keymap, doesn't support more advanced firmware features (e.g., more flexible home row mods and hold-tap settings, repeat key, lead key, having combo/layer/hold-tap on the same key, etc etc.). For those you'll need to hack QMK itself. All those can be relatively straightforwardly set up in ZMK (with either the official Glove80 layout editor, or the excellent editor from Nick Coutsos, nickcoutsos.github.io/keymap-editor/)
