Trump has said that there must be punishment for women who get an abortion. He also assumes full responsibility for making abortion illegal. If you believe there should be a punishment for what he has done to women all you have to do is vote blue. He will get the message.

YES YES YES....the hatred to women is not understandable or reasonable. But real. A professor of public administration in a good school told me over 30 years ago that he had had the students tested by psychologists and found that misogyny was nearly universal as I understood him, at least in the students who applied. Imagine a world structured by men who hate women. Here we are in it. That's clear to me. Misogyny in the highest court and no end in sight. Biden can give us some hope. Trump can give us NONE and NOTHING.
After taking care of roe vs wade, "Citizens United" needs to be repealed! We have 13 districts , we need 13 supreme court justices! No more double duty for the justices!

Yes, Lawrence, SCOTUS was expanded to 9 when the US expanded to 9 circuit courts. Now that we have 13 circuits, shouldn't we expand SCOTUS to 13 judges? Keeping Biden-Harris in the White House could lead us to expand to 13 with a liberal leaning majority.

Women's healthcare and reproductive rights just might be the most powerful issue in this upcoming presidential election. When you really think about it, you must conclude that abortion is reproductive healthcare, and should be left to the woman and her doctor. Legislators may try to legislate with a broad brush, but in the real world, we're talking about all different kinds of women, in all kinds of different situations, with all kinds of potential medical risks and complications. Legislators don't even have the professional competence and know how to interfere in all of that.
Judge Cannon is not working in isolation :-) She has a fairly formidable legal team behind her now. You are not fighting an inexperienced nieve little plant. She is playing the game correctly now. Never underestimate your opposition :-)
In regards to Judge Cannon I find her to be very goal-directed in her intent. After all she had advisement, and evidently discounted it.

Does not a Justice's 'religious affiliations' impact their judgement when issues of individual bodily autonomy, marital autonomy, and other hot button Christian religious issues come before SCOTUS? A religious belief by a Justice should not be allowed to determine the outcome of a case. Impartial means that nothing, except the evidence presented, shall be used to decide a case. Not preconceived religious notions, Biblical texts, nor an individual Justice's beliefs based upon religion, shall, in any way, be used to form a SCOTUS decision. Logic, and its impact on the nation as a whole shall be the only means for deciding any case brought before SCOTUS. Personal beliefs are not logical in making a decision that will affect millions of people in the US for decades to come. That is implying that a Justice's preconceived religious beliefs are the only 'evidence' to be used in making a judicial ruling, regardless of the actual evidence against that religion biased decision.
SCOTUS - Keep Your Religion to Yourselves, and function as a Court of the People, Not an Arm of the Christian Church Theocracy!

There are so many cases that apply to SCOTUS for review. Yet most of them are denied a hearing. I suspect volume has increased drastically in our litigious, modern life. In order to deal with the increased volume in this modern age, the only option is to expand SCOTUS.
It would make sense to expand SCOTUS to 18 or even 27. Two or three completely independent 'teams' that can hear cases while other teams are in research or deliberations. Even computers can help, scheduling & assigning cases to teams arbitrarily.
This should be done by written agreement by the Speaker of the House & Ranking Speaker (or whatever they call it - I'm forgetting just now) plus the Senate Majority Leader & the Ranking Member. The President must also participate but not vote. All of the Legislative members SHALL sign the agreement unless they abstain - which is on them.
In order to assign the Justices fairly, the Dems should assign 9 (or 11 if they replace/impeach Thomas & Alito.) By the written agreement, those Democratic nominees must fit a large, evenly spread group, from Progressive _LEANING_ Moderate to Straight Moderate Democrats should be chosen - no one from the non-extremist side of the left. One MUST BE very Moderate so that real debate within each Court can take place.
Leave 9 Justices for a Commitee of Senators or the next Republican President to fill. They should again fill a even spread of Moderate to Hard - Right - _LEANING_ -Moderate Republicans, just as with the Democrats, non-extremist viewpoints are a must. Again, One MUST be *_VERY_* Moderate so that real debate within each Court can take place.
After all are appointed, the two groups should be scrambled, by the previously mentioned written agreement, so each Court is 5-4, Wth a Moderate swing voter on each.
That is the fairest way I can think of to develop a healthy Supreme Court system that can hear more cases, & is fair in debates/rulings. Yes, parties could cheat...they are human & easily tempted. Surely the agreement could be written to deterr that.
In addition, I would also propose that once the Courts are filled, there shall then go into effect a statute that no President can appoint more than 2 Justices to any one of the three Courts. In addition, replacements should be nominated & reviewed by Commitee by a certain time frame. (So much for the corrupt "Mitch Rule".) This again from the written agreement.
If 3 new Justices are needed, permanently assign someone from one of the other Courts & then replace that Justice. Remember, in the written agreement, all replacements should be picked to replace the ideological outlook of the Justice being replaced (again by statute).
That will add 2 more Chief Justices, but with _three_ Chiefs they could vote to resolve issues. That system should also be set out firmly in the written agreement.
It also gives the ability for a second Court's review if Corruption is alleged in one of the Courts, as well as an ethics review. Also, rules should be implemented to add lying to Congress as an impeachable offense if there is a clear pattern or significant decision that the nominee lied. (As with the Stare Decis lies from Trump's three pics. Remember, Stare decisis, meaning in Latin “to stand by things decided,” is a legal principle that directs Courts to adhere to previous judgments (or judgments of higher tribunals) while resolving a case with allegedly comparable facts. That is what let them overturn Roe v Wade. They never would have been appointed knowing Roe v Wade was in danger. Note that as with Presidential Impeachment, impeachment is voted on by the House & convicted by the Senete.
The written agreement could also set term limits & a minimum age for SCOTUS nominees (voted on by the full House & Senete.)
