Great quality video. Big thumb up for cameraman who is able to set shutter speed corectly. Other car reviewers had flickering infotaintment screens in their car reviews.
Great review of a sensible car if all you need is just a car with plenty of space and good safety at a reasonable price. It also does not hurt that it is a VW instead of a cheaper car brand that has a larger depreciation. Another important point is that car models that are also used as commercial vehicles are usually more durable and the VW Caddy is such a car.
Great review AJ. Nice looking vehicle for those who need extra space. Touch screens for main controls should be banned, it's no better than using a smart phone at the wheel. Start a campaign "bring back knobs" lol :-))
Thanks for the great Review AJ - and interesting to see the details on this latest Caddy. Looks quite nice. Agree about the infotainment's distracting sliding controls. Best wishes.
Great review! Thank you for introducing the car and just the car and not (as lot of reviews tend to do) center staging the host! Great done! Great info!
Great, thanks AJ, very good and clear review. I like the front bumper and glad they went to the trouble to make it less "stripper". Interior is good and i love the steering wheel. Good to see it was reviewed in Thomas blue.

Yep. Also unreliable. Unless driver lives in country with perfect clean roads or drives only in town at low speeds, small rocks would destroy that grill and sensor over few years. It could be expensive to replace.
What would happen if cruise control is on and someone changed into the lane in front of your car close to you. Would the car then floor the brakes? I am just curious if all these new electronics are worth it since my cars are kinda old and i dont got all the future accessories. i do have abs though. My car is from 1992 though
Insee your reviews about 3 years ...they are the best,so can you review the ford tourneo connect auto ??pls?? And can you put 3 child seats there ??pls pls pls Thanx a lot
I wonder if the rear wheels have independent suspension? , windows on the back still won't open, even in doblo have this feature, cadyy still doesn't do them
Citroen sent a fax from 1996. They want their Berlingo back. Mercedes sent an email from 2000. They want the back of their Vaneo back. Good video. The current Caddy is kinda perfect for me though, and I’d prefer it’s more straight forward cabin.
The mk 4 looks way better I think. I wonder why vw moved the front sensor to such a strange exposed place , on the mk4 it was under the vw badge... Electric hand brake? Vw are cutting a lot of corners on the mk5...inc the fixed rear supension.. Iit will never be a true mpv.
Very nice work, Ajay. Always loving and looking forward to your reviews as well. Very fun and informative. 💖 I love the points you brought up, some of which I have mentioned in the other Autogefühl video of this car with Brian. I like the design. Very simple and commercial. Nothing crazy. As I have mentioned in Brian's video of the Caddy, with cars like this (vans, SUVs, trucks) I do not really care about the styling not being appealing to me with a wow factor. Same deal with the interior. No need to be very plush, but rather more rugged or durable. I just want it to work and be competent. But as a family vehicle, it could be a bit better, as you said. That is just my opinion. 🤗 I really like the screens. I am curious about the software. However, I cannot speak to the touch tech and capacitive controls in this particular car. I do know that these systems can work well to my tastes. I know this because I was in the new S-Class (and E-Class facelift) just a few days ago, and the ergonomics of the screens and capacitive steering wheel work well for me, and they come with great compromises that this Caddy seems to not have. Just to note, my thoughts on the S-Class' touch screen are in pencil, because I have not driven it yet. My opinion may be tweaked or completely changed when I try out the ergonomics for myself while the car is moving. However, the capacitive touch on the steering wheel is great. I have driven the E-Class sedan facelift, and they worked well when I did my tests with them. The sensitivity and aggression of the feedback can be adjusted quite a bit, so that is great. I do want to try out this Caddy's ergonomics for myself, and see if they are good enough. For now, I will take your word for it. 🤗 I am not by default against screens and capacitive controls. I am not bias. I am against ones that don't work in practice, just like how I am against anything that don't work in practice. And I always try them out in person before jumping to conclusions or copying and pasting what someone else said. If they work...then that's great. If not, well I am going to rant about it, depending on how offensive it it. It is a great discussion to have about these capacitive buttons and such. Sadly, I have not found anyone worth the discussion. None of them have used these systems as extensively as I have, if at all. Not worth it. I need someone who has gone down and dirty, so to say. Haha. 😂 I can only trust you guys in the Autogefühl videos. I actually *see* you using and talking about them, so I know you have tried it out. Cheers, Ajay. Great review, as always. Stay safe. 🤗
Nice review but not as good as a review of opel combo from some time ago. The reviewer there had more understanding for this category of vehicles. I have to wait to see it in person but I don't like it's exterior nor interior in the online presentations. The previous generation had a boring desing, but it was simple and purposeful. I'm not sure what to think about the new one.
As Caddy IV owner, Iam not really excited about this caddy mpv version. First they have removed the big ceiling rack where I put my bag, laptop, my children stuff, diving mask, snorkels.... Capacitive buttons should be banned. They are keeping the same impractical rear seats system were the berlingo and kangoo offer a better folding system since 15 years. This caddy is not an MPV it is a golf with better trunk, I believe that is a VW marketing strategy to push clients to buy SUVs or a touran because the berlingo-rifter are much better
I see their is only a 2.0Tdi 122bhp on offer no 150bhp. It looks to much like a Renault Kangoo at the rear. No struts for the bonnet more of VW cutting costs and been cheap.
Great review AJ👍 I have an ambivalent opinion about this car. It looks better, compared with the old model, but not quite. Some of the exterior design elements are pretty nice and some are reminding me of japanese toys cars. That honeycomb in the front, it may look, good for some🤷♂️, but I think that is a pain in the a. when washing the car🤦♂️. I notice that the turning lights, from the side mirrors, find they way back to the body of the ca🤔r. At the interior, the dashboard looks ok, but a little bit like a toy. It may be a solution for a commercial car, but for privat use, I think, is just a lot of space where the dust can have fun and you are not in position get red of it, that easy.😡 I like the fuel consumption/economy, but not the lack of power. I had a VW Polo, 1,4 TDI, 3 cylinders engine, sounding like a tractor, and the fuel consumption was the same as on this Caddy, if I drove it very carefully. So 👍 for Caddy, VW! Very big and regular luggage space and easy to access, but nothing to hold on small bagages for not moving all over the place when driving. And what's that for an rear axle?.............. It's 2021VW!......in a few days 🤔 This are some of the things I can think av right now. All in all, it may not be THAT bad anyway, but if I was to buy it, I will always have in mind that something is not right about the car I bought..............
I honestly don't understand why they didn't bother hiding the rails like most of its rivals and even the previous Caddy (and this one was released in 2004!)...
May anybody tell me, how much is the NOx emission from the 2.0 diesel version? Due to the euro7 will be put in force by 2025, and the NOx limit will be 30mg/km. I have searched the NOx emission data of EA288 evo but in vain. On the contrary, the PSA already announced its DS7 (1.5hdi) meet the standard of 30mg/km NOx emission standard.
I have a caddy, bought new in 2009, i like this new one a lot, but NO talks whatsoever about how many seconds from 0 to 100? the most important for me. i heard this year, there wil be a 150 hp model coming?? i sure will love that 1 lol any vw caddy is way better then a citroen berlingo or a peugeot kangoo or the copy of kangoo by toyota
lovely looking van but i think id prefer the previous Model as it have rear window openings, i dont understand why you cant open the rear windows, in summer the rear passengers would suffer heat stroke if you had the caddy california you would definitely die with the heat while sleeping in the summer especially having a sun roof it would make a lovely glass house🤔🤣
This looks really interesting. And I dislike vans. Maybe that is why I like this design. Why must vans look boring? Some modern styling is always welcome.
WV has lost it's way. To cheapen the car this much when all the competitors are moving ahead with their interiors? Same old engines, but that's normal as fossil fuels are to be phased out soon.
This Caddy SUCKS HARD. It lost every energy and looks from the 2018 model. If i cou'ld chose between this new model and the older one, one year old for the same price, i would take the older version without a doubt. Thank you VW for screwing this BIG TIME It looks like a VW Berligo

Thomas looking good, although a bit shorter than usual.
😂
XD
And his English is much better

I love these reviews, This is really entertaining, Great Video
AJ in this case 😃 thanks!!
Great, thanks AJ, very good and clear review. I like the front bumper and glad they went to the trouble to make it less "stripper". Interior is good and i love the steering wheel. Good to see it was reviewed in Thomas blue.

Aladdin: I have Genie of the Lamp
Volkswagen:Well,we have MQB....
Aladdin has left the chat.
Good presentation, well designed Caddy. Congrats AJ
Front grill is such a design disaster. I can't image all dirt, bug etc. makes harder to clean and looks awful...
Old generation looked like macho work van. This looks generic cute.
Yep. Also unreliable. Unless driver lives in country with perfect clean roads or drives only in town at low speeds, small rocks would destroy that grill and sensor over few years. It could be expensive to replace.
it's nice design, but the grill is too thin, it will break...
Nice review, please give boot space in litres and power in bhp please, easier for comparison, a visual pop up of the numbers would be nice, thanks
It's unbelievable that they still don't have any options to open the rear windows. Renault Kangoo, Rifter, Opel combo have it already.
Agreed!
Peculiar looking car Amazing variety of cars being reviewed by Thomas Cheers mate
Cheers pal!
8:18 thank you for mentioning that DSG would be offered! No other videos mention that... great video!
They need to keep the ceiling shelf for the trade variety
How much torque ?
What would happen if cruise control is on and someone changed into the lane in front of your car close to you. Would the car then floor the brakes? I am just curious if all these new electronics are worth it since my cars are kinda old and i dont got all the future accessories. i do have abs though. My car is from 1992 though
Excellent review guys.
Very good report. Not too bad buddy!!!
Insee your reviews about 3 years ...they are the best,so can you review the ford tourneo connect auto ??pls??

Thanx a lot
I wonder if the rear wheels have independent suspension? , windows on the back still won't open, even in doblo have this feature, cadyy still doesn't do them
The best looking car in its segment
Having all touch based interfaces is a deal breaker for me. I'd always go for the car without them
Is the rear scissor or suspension?
Great video thanks, tempted by the California but over 35,000 this is nearly Golf R estate money.
Citroen sent a fax from 1996. They want their Berlingo back.
Mercedes sent an email from 2000. They want the back of their Vaneo back.
Good video. The current Caddy is kinda perfect for me though, and I’d prefer it’s more straight forward cabin.
the main thing that held me back to get a van as a daily driver was the interiors, this one might change that
Wonderful review!
Lets hope the commercial version will be much more stripped down and rugged
Interesting design, I think the front look pretty nice but the sides and back look strange. Thanks for the video, good in depth review!
Would love to see a split rear door. Pop up glass & fold down door to sit on
They've made the front bumper design similar to the iD3 - I don't think VW should be spreading its iD range design features across its ICE vehicles.
Do you have a personal channel where I can see only your reviews?
th-cam.com/play/PLv7RkW53_QVrVuYriARUYoiU1ZdI8COca.html
The golf mk 8 does seem to have van like quality.
75 HP from a 2.0 engine, holly fuck back to the 80s??? 🤬
No front fog lights?.
Never seen new model with fog lights. Sad.... It's just sad.
Rims so good
The front looks a little like the vw id3
The mk 4 looks way better I think.
I wonder why vw moved the front sensor to such a strange exposed place , on the mk4 it was under the vw badge...
Electric hand brake?
Vw are cutting a lot of corners on the mk5...inc the fixed rear supension.. Iit will never be a true mpv.
Does it offer any bluetooth connection?

Thanks for the feedback!!
Good to see that the new Caddy. Will the VW give us a new Touran in the near future?
No, sadly the Touran and Sharan designs will end with this generation. You can look it up on Google.
LWB versions could do well in the US market, seems very nice
Looks more and more like a Peugeot/Citroen Berlingo/Partner. Not like a VW
That what I was afraid!
The Berlingo/Partner looks much better.
Whats the height of caddy?
I wish these were available in the USA.
You turned a blind eye to the middle windows not opening, which could be a deal breaker for some.

New Dokker lines?

Berlingo/partner looks way better
Totally agree

i thought the rear says Gaudy instead of Caddy
Doesn't it?
Good
Bring this in stick to the states!

far better than thomas
lovely looking van but i think id prefer the previous Model as it have rear window openings,

👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Reminds me of an Opel but ok 👍
I think its one of the ugliest car VW has made. The "old" Caddy was way prettier.
I like this front design better but the rear is worse than the old one.
I actually prefer this one
This looks really interesting. And I dislike vans. Maybe that is why I like this design. Why must vans look boring? Some modern styling is always welcome.
Agree.
Vile front grill, looks from a side/rear profile to much like a ford
hi from india! im so curious! you do not look like a "real german" ethnically. what is your ethnic origin? :) thanks are you indian also? :)
No way 29k for base model before you add extras In the uk,
Tacky plastic looking interior..
Even worse looking exterior I think compaired to mk4.
£37k for a nice one. But there’s nothing else like it left.
Turkce de çeviri yapsaydınız iyidi
Nice
This is no "very caddy". Doesn't look like a caddy anymore.
🙏❤️🙏👍🏽👍🏽👏👏👏 Thanks 🙏 👏👍🏽
Wow supers wosvagen caddy
So glad I don’t have need and use case for those kind of aehm...cars
WV has lost it's way. To cheapen the car this much when all the competitors are moving ahead with their interiors? Same old engines, but that's normal as fossil fuels are to be phased out soon.
I remember during the official presentation last year the vw representative said that caddy buyers are not fan of electric vehicles
Front bumper is purely for design. Will be hopeless in the real world. Its a nice van but it looks as if its French now.It wouldnt put me of it though..
How about comfort the ancient caddy is so bad in comfort kangoo is better🙁
BRING BACK Thomas
Looks shiiite !!
Ugly car old is better
This Caddy SUCKS HARD. It lost every energy and looks from the 2018 model. If i cou'ld chose between this new model and the older one, one year old for the same price, i would take the older version without a doubt. Thank you VW for screwing this BIG TIME It looks like a VW Berligo
