It's a great unit. Many drum synths can sound a bit boring - all swept basic waves and noise, but something about the nord means you can range from realistic ethnic percussion through to crunchy electronic bloops. Quality stuff.
Good news! I was talking at superbooth about the future of the Nord drum with some person working at Nord. They can’t really comment on the future of it directly. but the Nord drum series is still selling well and the sales aren’t sinking. So the person was optimistic about a possible new version :slight_smile:
At the same time he was very clear that they aren’t working on new Nord modular synths. He explained me that they are focused on stage instruments. Thats also e.g. (my interpretation) why they won’t add a sequencer on a new Nord drum.

what would be needed to add to this to play live and play loops that you guys feel is the best chice for the Nord Drum on the market now in later 2023? brands and devices that will give abetter workflow? what about Soft Step 3 coming out now!? :)

There is a Nord Drum 3P editor in VST format.
Incredibly stupid not to have a hi hat pedal input on this. Take a look at the other pad units out there, if you are a drummer, you want to be able to use your feet and hands. Someone dropped the ball in a major way on this design.
first off this is a physical modelling synth that means it has resonance characteristics of different drums specifically created for the synth and that also means you cant just "do it with any other synth". second you talk about bend which is probably the bend range of the pitch envelope you say "this is how kick synthesis works" but actually what should be said is "this is a sine kick, one of the core elements of designing a sine kick is the pitch enveleope" asf. because neither is this how kick synthesis 'in general' works nor do you learn anything about how to do it on any synth. now if you just frame the video as "we look at drum synthesis in the 3p" ime fine :p

Your first point is incorrect - not every oscillator type in the ND is based on physical modelling. The VA oscillators are modelled on square, sawtooth etc. What he does is exactly what you would do on another drum synth.

We don't have any info that regard, but a Nord Drum Eurorack Module is an amazing idea for sure.

@@ACIDGREENTECHNO Sadly that's not how things work in this industry. Product announcements are carefully curated events. If a company wants you to know what they are working on, they will leak the information and if they don't they don't.
@@ThomannSynthesizers yeah but sometimes they tell you whats / if there is something in the pipeline - or even use such things as inspiration. thats why i wrote maybe u can ask them too. best example is allen & heath. they dont fuck around much with infomation hiding.😅 (only if its super secure)
