  • Today we're diving into the creation of processed, synthesized drumloops for later use in compositions & production. We are making use of the LXR-02 by Erica Synths for basic synthesis and the RC-20 & Infiltrator 2 Plugins for further processing among others, but you should be able to apply these principles with any gear and any software.
    Gear used:
    Erica Synths LXR-02: thmn.to/thopro...
    XLN Audio RC-20 Retro Color VST: thmn.to/thopro...

    LXR-02... I love it! Bought it after spending one year on the Volca Drum. It can do very complex stuff

    For a smaller budget give "MicroTonic" from Sonic Charge a try! Great Drumsynth VST

      Would say THE BEST drum synth in the vst world. I really don't know any other synth with that possibilities in drum synthesis. I am talking about synths only - no vst with any audio content.

      I agree, it’s a great drum synth. I actually bought a LXR 1 because of the similarities.
      But for another budget tip if you want a hardware version, then MicroTonic is great the the PO Tonic from Teenage Engineering.

    BIG on the intro and outro soundtrack 🙌 Lovely nineties-style pads I miss. Thanks for the killer library of pre-made loops tip Felix. Just the other day Sonic Charge dropped an AI script for enabling a smart way to browse through and customise endless patterns, and I was pondering doing this. I will try your method using Abe's built-in effects, but those are cool 3rd-party fx recommendations. Infiltrator reminds of a beefed-up version of dBlue 🤘

    Question 🙋‍♂️ Felix - if you have a drum rack in ableton or a drum group couldn’t you just use VST plug-ins in the daw without needing to creat loops?
    What’s the benefit of having drum loops in making a track that’s going to be in ableton anyway? This makes sense to me if I was going to chuck it onto my Octatrack but not sure what else.

    • @felixfleer4507
      @felixfleer4507 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is a deliberate creative choice. I like to work with breakbeat samples a lot, in part due to some of their build in limitations like overlapping drum sounds and their complex sonic nature. By creating synthesized and processed drumloops I create something that of course sounds very different from a breakbeat, but allows for a similar workflow leading me to new ideas that I wouldn't have had I synthesized each drum sound individually while building a track. Anyways thats just one way to work. Very often I still create each sound individually, but it helps to have some of these loops on hand.
