Nord Drum 3p. Stock Sound Banks That I Liked. Played By Hands.

- I was wondering is it possible to play Nord Drum pads with fingers and YES - it is very cool. Synth responds to every micro strike, it is fast and very fun to play. Fell in love with this thing instantly.
Now i plan to integrate it to my upcoming looping setup (handpans, framedrum, guitar, vocal etc).
And i will start to learn how to play with a kick and sticks too =)

So far I’ve only been studying it for two days, but here’s what I managed to understand:
1) I am not a drummer and i dont have skill with drumsticks, so I was wondering if it was possible to play the Nord with my fingers. It is more than possible. I tried Korg Wavedrums and Roland Spd, there is something to compare with. So here it is. Nord's response is lightning fast, it reacts to light touches (sensitivity can be adjusted on three parameters, there is a Hand Mode). Therefore, fluttering rudiments and small rolls are perfectly readable and I enjoy this responsiveness 😍
2) This is not a sampler into which you load sounds and play back (there is something robotic, “dead” in this concept).
It is a synthesizer in which every sound is dynamically generated. One of its coolest features is that some parameters (mainly decay time and pitch) can be tied to the strength of the strike. For example, the stronger you strike, the higher the note of the bell sounds, etc.
Synthesis allows you to tinker with existing sounds and create new ones from scratch (the process is implemented quite conveniently and you quickly remember where everything is).
It's fun to try to create traditional percussion sounds on it (though of course it can't replace a live djembe or the overtone-rich sound of cymbals), but what it does best is create cool sounds at the intersection of electronic and organic, most of which will fit into any set.
In addition to drums, it can create bass, bells, ambient sounds and noise textures. It's not only a percussion/melodic instrument, it's a sound design machine 😱
+ now I have the MOST awesome trigger pedal for the kick drum, with which I can finally learn to drum like on a kit)) - เพลง
damn, you really showed off the velocity sensitivity on this. had no idea it was so responsive! great playing!
Thank you! Yes i was glad to discover that i actually can play this things with hands! More to come) will mix it with live instruments
Keen to hear what more you do with it.
Aight aight now I REALLy want one. You might have been my only competition on the lunch tables back in the day lol
Ugh, watching great musicians make amazing sounds with hardware always gives me such painful GAS 😩 Thanks for showing this off!
Thanks man!
okay i thought this was specifically for drummers who use sticks, this actually looks freaking amazing
I am really shocked by this instrument! I figured out how to plug it to powerbank to play anywhere) more to come!
You can also play with your hands or sticks
I have on and I have a question how do you make it sensitive when you play with your hands
@@DontaviousTaylor-kg1if look in the manual and see if there's a hands mode, I think I saw something about there being one in the menus/options?
@@d3tuned378thank you I have one and I wanted to know how it worked
Hmm - I'd just convinced myself I don't want/need one of these - turns out I was wrong. Excellent playing!
More, more, more different videos and shorts in various places: home, streets, forests and etc.
Different length of the video - short and medium

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Fantastic performance! 👍
Thanks!
very nice playing, thanks for sharing
I stumbled on your video. Very good stuff, keep up the good 🙏🏼🍕
It's weird I think this is the first time I've ever seen one of these played by hand.. I always wondered how that would work (never used one personally)
It really works! And feels great)
This is amazing
Fantastic!!
thanks!
Siiick man, really nice
Great playing, please more jam , performance on this thing, such a great play
Ok! Will do!
Awesome! Subbed for more Nord drum videos
una barbaridad! muy buen batero!!!
Thank you!!
you make it sing a lot
Woah. Sounds like Aphex Twin.
Огнище аппарт!
Космобарабан!)
I wonder how woollen xylophone mallets would work??
this is super cool! what kind of hand drum technique is this?
I play handpans for about 10 years. Cajon too.
@@GeorgeGain6Awesome man that explains your hand skills it is
super nice with the nord drum keep it up !
Amazing. Great sounds, cool playing. How long have you played percussion?
About 10 years now. Mostly Handpans and Cajon.
Terrific playing. George, how would you compare it to Wavedrum? Both are drum synths and I do enjoy playing on Wavedrum, emulating some outer world framedrum. Don’t enjoy programming it. Do you find physical aspects of playing Nord more fun?
I played wavedrum about six years ago. I remember that i didn't like it very much but cannot describe you why - i would like to try it again to form an opinion from today skill level.
As for the Nord Drum 3P - i really like it. It is sensitive enough for super fast hand playing, but fingers must be trained to make focused strong and articulate strikes anyway. Soft touch would not trigger a sound. I sorted all kits and chose the best ones for myself. Switching between banks is fast.
Plus i like that Nord Drum can be used for sequencing because it has six monosynths inside which is crazy. I plan to buy Torso T-1 for that purpose.
@@GeorgeGain6 Yeah, lack of MIDI in the Wavedrum is a dealbreaker for most synth heads. When I bought one, it was the first synth I ever owned so I didn't even care about MIDI, just wanted to hand drum something in my flat. You really have a good feel for the Nord Drum, I don't see many videos of people playing it, especially without sticks, mostly sequencing it. As you said, it also excels at that too. I look forward to see what you will come up with using it together with acoustical instruments. I think that would be pretty neat
Do you use mute groups here or do you let all the sounds overlap? Fantastic playing!
There are some presets with "solo groups" here yeah
@@GeorgeGain6 Excellent, thanks!
Can you share the pad settings you used for this very cool demo? (Sensitivity and threshold?)
Ofc, will do it tomorrow!
Pad Threshold 1
Sensitivity 20
Pad Mode: Hand
I try these settings and get ghost triggers. What firmware are you running? I also have intense noise when the reverb is on.
@@ukura nord drum should be sitting on a stand or very soft surface to avoid ghost triggers. I have the last firmware (check on their site).
Yes, internal reverb is pretty noisy, especially when you play with headphones.
Hi, can I have the audio in good quality? for me to use some cuts on my sampler
You can download the video from youtube and take the audio out of it 😊
Cool another thousand bucks to add to my "money I don't have for gear I want" fund
And i want torso t-1 sequencer now 😂
On instrument bank b 8 how did you get that sound
Noise through filter types with resonance, low pass, band pass etc
Fingerprint stains
With sticks it would be the same. It can be cleaned btw
