I heard a great saying, it said, "Run after God so fast and so hard, and if you notice someone else that's keeping you with your pursuit of God... Introduce yourself" 🙌🏼
As a new 18 year old seeking to honor the Lord and starting to date someone. My dear mother sent this to me and oh my word. I’m so encouraged by how this has affirmed the way we’ve gone about dating so far and how to continue to practically seek purity as we desire to honor the lord in our growing relationship. Praise the lord for the wisdom he continues to reveal through His word and faithful followers.
Voddie Baucham defines love as: "An act of the will, accompanied by emotion, that leads to action on behalf of its object." This definition emphasizes that love is not purely an emotion or fleeting feeling. Instead, it involves a deliberate choice (the will), accompanied by genuine emotion, which ultimately results in meaningful, sacrificial actions for the benefit of the person loved. I personally like this definition because it is rooted in the biblical teachings, and shows that although they are not the leading factors in deciding to commit emotions and attraction are involved.
The first statement that we have to be in a church…That’s tough. My family really wants to be in a church. What do folks like us do when we cannot find a faithful church? Am I immediately unqualified to ever be married simply because I cannot find a church to be a part of? Personally I believe the church is those who love the Lord. But as for a church building around us that has a faithful pastor, we haven’t found that.
There are a variety of church finders to assist. If you are in the US, masters seminary has a church finder for where all of their graduates are. OPC also has a church finder for conservative presbyterian churches, as well as PCA.
The church is indeed wherever two or three are gathered together in Jesus' name. It's also where people gather together to hear the word of the LORD. Where people come for guidance and criticism and for the work of the Lord. It's like a hub of activity, not necessarily a place for believers to simply gather. It's where people can begin to look outward, to seek to enrich and help others, as well as be enriched through the Holy Spirit. The greatest thing you can do is pray. Pray til you get an answer. It's always worked and always will not those who believe. He won't forget you or fail you. Just remember that God always provides where God guides.
Pray to God for directions and He will definitely led you to a church that will treat you like family. There are also other good churches online that you can start following and attending their service
My question is, what does one do when there are no single members of the opposite sex in one's church (or even sister churches nearby), and one has already been waiting for years to find a spouse? Sometimes there can be sex imbalances in a church, so that there is a preponderance of one or the other.
I appreciate the word on these things. One thing that i disagreed with, though, was that sin was unshakeabke. The idea that you'll wrestle with it until you meet Jesus on the other side. Surely, being clean, we have no need to be cleaned again. Such is simply a matter of faith, not time.
Great advice! I’d love to hear further explanation about the “we’ll see if God answers his prayers” comment. What does that reveal about the person? What if God says no or wait to his or her prayers?
I think what's being referred to in that comment is alignment with God's will, because, if we ask for anything according to His will He will give it to us
@@fido652 Perhaps not. But it’s up to each individual to make that determination for themselves. In this community, we have determined for ourselves what we believe. Your attempt to sow seeds of doubt won’t work here.
It’s really not as complicated as people make it out to be. A person’s prayers reveals the nature of their faith and their spiritual maturity. If God says no, there’s a reason for it and you move on, trusting in His guidance. If it’s “wait,” then you wait until there’s a definitive yes or no. In the meantime, you continue to walk in faith and growing in Christ.
How many young people who start dating at 14 stay pure until 19? Good luck with that. Or now that everyone detests purity culture, does no one care about virginity anymore? And I don't mean pretend/technical virginity. 29:00
Find a church whose people know scripture as their ultimate authority and are dedicated to submitting their desires to will of God and you'll find people who actually care about staying pure. They are out there
I'm certain there's a Bible practicing Church around you. Maybe you have to search a bit farther. Better still, pray and ask God to lead you to one. Bless you!
As far as attarction goes, I'd have to say i do take a more pioutous view. It IS recorded as vain and deceitful, certainly nothing that you can account for in a marriage. Its like saying, you have to have air to breathe when you get up in the morning. How do you control it? Where do you get it? Does it affect your decisions? Should it? I'd say, if we're looking clearly, its shouldn't. You shouldn't look for it, but it does matter. As far as the passage of Ezekiel goes, though, could it simply be that the delight he had in his wife was simply the joy she gave him? When its all said and done, that mattered way more to him than how she looked?
God abandoned us, on this planet. I stopped going to church , the churches in my neighborhood are so cold, and traditional, I basically gave up completely.
God's eye is over all, watching what they do and how they do it, to behold the good and the evil. To show himself strong on behalf of those who trust in him and to cast down the wicked. Your mind has not seen enough of human history to perceive accurately whether God has denied us or not. How would you know? You've been here less than 30 years.
Hm.. I do like to go to church when possible and just sit when it is empty. For me it always is some kind of conversation. That conversation can be done in any moment, because if You really know, if You really feel those values are Your too - God hears You, God knows, and cold ones will stay cold, and You will still be heard.. God Bless You.. 🙂👍☕
Ah, the mind your own business argument. If only we all stayed silent and did nothing, what a wonderful world we’d live in where no wisdom was shared, no ideas were challenged, and no effort to stop crime was given because we all just minded our own business. Very well thought out. 👍

Loving people means taking them as they are. This may include certain verbal ticks. Certainly not the worst of the things a person could come with.

Take your God's teaching and apply it to the modern cultural context. Exactly. So lay off the gays.
You must have missed the part where they mentioned how God's word transcends culture. Homosexuality was as much of a sin in Paul's day as it is today
