This film is criminally underrated and overhated, just because it hasn't Kevin as the protagonist; I'm glad people in the comments seem to share my opinion.
I remember watching the VHS so much, especially when I was sick and home from school.
This one has a special place in my heart for sure. It's the last film in the franchise I like

I think this movie is actually underrated. I love this one because Alex is just so adorable. I always laugh my butt off when all the bad guys end up with chicken pox. LOL
Also Alex does something that a psychopath named Kevin never considered: when you see a crime being committed you call 911, like what all children a taught from day one. Kevin only considered calling 911 after he had sufficiently maimed two people.

Unpopular opinion, I actually liked this film growing up. Not as much as the first two, but I enjoyed it. Also that cop wasn't the dad from Malcolm In The Middle, his name is Neil Flynn he was The Janitor on Scrubs and Mike Heck on The Middle.

I think that he was referring to The Middle but he got the shows mixed up.
The one thing this movie has that the first two are lacking, is that this kid ACTUALLY gets credit for his work. I think it's a solid follow up., even if it's not quite as sadistic as the first two, ha.
Same, i think this movie does what the first two didn't. The parents actually are responsible too, just a lot of bad consequences.
Personally I think some people don't like this version is because,
1. Alex actually does the right thing: I see a crime being committed so I'll call 911... twice. So Alex only sets traps as last resort and not because he has a hunger for chaos.
2. His traps aren't as sadistic as Kevin's. "What no one took a blow torch to the head, or a nail to the foot? This isn't a real Home Alone movie."
3. The family doesn't completely suck and the parents aren't incompetent. Kevin's family deems him the trouble maker, yet no one noticed he wasn't there... twice. After the first time I would make sure that my kid was at least on the plane. Alex's mom only left him alone because she didn't have a choice and she went out of her way to make sure he was taken care of and was always in contact with him.
Sure it's not as good as the first two, but I think it holds up, and definitely better than anything that comes after.
I totally agree plus i think that the trap set up time was more realistic than in the first 2 Home Alone. He spent most of the night and a few hours after his mom left to set up vs Kevin who managed to get such elaborate traps set up in an hour or 2 depending on the movie.

@@idkaboutthisfuckoffyoutube1041 Kevin also electrocuted Marv after dropping a shelf of heavy paint cans on him. Marv had a reason to touch the sink, while the other guy had no reason to sit in the chair. Not saying that Alex's traps aren't bad 'cause they are, but Kevin's traps are more methodical and devious.
Yeah, I like that Alex fell into a “Boy who cried wolf situation” and had to settle things with his own hands
That's exactly why I love this Home Alone and why I consider it to be the best in the franchise: it's more realistic.
Honestly, this is my favorite out the franchise, but that's mainly because I remember it the most. While it was out before I was born like the first two, this one, I had watched way more as a kid. So, it was the one I grew up with.
I've always used to watch the first 3 growing up religiously every year and sometimes the 4th one if I was bored cause it's really quite bad but at a younger age it was alright. The first 2, of course, can't ever compare to the later ones but honestly, I don't know if the 3rd one deserves as much hate. I always liked it and didn't think it was too bad of a film.
The 5th and now 6th are awful to. Guess you didn't know about 5.

i think the first 2 are better but this one is emotionally my favorite
i love how alex is just a sick kid stuck at home, and he actually saves the older person (where kevin was saved by both of the older people - the old man and the bird lady)
plus he's just such a sweet little kid
Finally someone that has reacted to this movie. I like this movie more than the first two, but nobody reacts to it, most people that have, mostly says that it’s bad or just a ripoff, hate it
This movie's ridiculous, but I still like it. I kinda wish more people would give it a chance.
For all that it rips alot of the jokes from the first 2, i think it still stands up and find it hilarious. I love watching it on repeat even if the criminals go from mastermind to bumbling criminal as the film goes on. Its a cheesy laugh that stands alone from the originals with the characters and plot but still captures some of the essence from them. Thank you soooo much for reacting to this movie, ive been waiting to see an honest reaction for a while from anyone.
I have never considered how old the home alone movies were till I noticed that the sister in this movie is played by a young Scarlet Johanson 🤨 this really came out in 1997 and not during the 2000s crappy age of remakes and sequels

The parrot in the movie (a Yellow Front Amazon, it looks like) has most of its dialogues provided by an outside source. I say most because while most parrots CAN talk, they can't actually hold full conversations like the one in the movie can. They're not stupid though, they can actually formulate a reply if they know the word to reply with. A good example would be our familys African Grey Parrot, Riko. He saw someone on TV crying, and he said ''Aww, whats wrong?'''. The bugger has also taught himself my name, so sometimes he'll call me, then when I respond, he'll call me a bad word. He's an asshole parrot but I love him. xD
I know, my mom's African grey is so intelligent. It's a sad day when a parrot has better comedic timing than me.
I actually love this movie, I think they get bad after this one. Also, when I watched it for the first time I was an ill kid during winter so it was close to home 😂😂
Home Alone 1 and 2 have a special place in everyone's heart but I feel 3 was the most realistic of the 3.
He called the authorities, his monther wasn't a bad mom just one that had a job and had to leave and the villans started out very scary actually.

I knew about the 1 and two but i had thsi one on vhs (ah,good times),so you must imagine how confused I was when they treated kevin so badly. Alex's siblings did care about him, as you can see from the sisters reaction to the police dismissing him.

5:06 I don't know if that's what you meant but he's the dad in "The Middle" not in "Malcolm in the middle". In "Malcolm in the middle", Bryan Cranston (who is also Walter White in Breaking Bad 😉) is playing the dad.

@@RivalReacts absolutely no amount of Power's ever gonna get those 4 law breaking knuckleheads (Petr Beaupre, Alice Ribbons, Burton Jernigan as well as Earl Unger) out of their embarrassing/humiliating dilemma/predicament/ultimatum & no1's ever going 2 be able 2 get them out of it either no matter how good/slick they're 1nce word in this film gets out they literally got their butts kicked by 1 measly meddling kid!

I actually like all home alone besides 5 and 6. This one is just funny because they're international gang members yet a kid absolutely destroys them 😂 and I love the parrot. This one may not have the McCauley charm but it's still good

I saw this movie when I was a kid.That was my favorite I have a tape One two and three All together! this Dude know how to defend himself without his parents Sister and brother 😆
I actually like this one of the non Kevin movies. The reason he is home alone makes more sense
This being the first Home Alone movie I watched, It is extremely nostalgic and my personal favorite. The first is objectively better, and 2 is arguable. If this were the first Home Alone, I dare say it would be nearly equal in popularity.
this movie obviously cant compare to the original 2 but its still decent, way better than everything after it

The funniest traps for me were Unger and Jernigan getting electrocuted, Beaupre getting sprayed in the eyes, Jernigan getting run over by a mower then falling two stories down, and Unger and Jernigan struggling to get out of the pool. What made Unger and Jernigan's trap scenes funnier is when they screamed like Homer Simpson and Carlton Banks.
One last thing: Unger skating across the hallway and apparently crashing into a cat then going down the stairs only to get his hand snapped was the funniest scene ever. In my head, he's saying every letter in the alphabet as he goes down like this:
First, one per every step: A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H-I-J-K-L-M-N-O-P-Q-R-S-T-U-V-W-X…
Then as he goes towards the washer: Y…!!!!!!!
And finally he gets his hand snapped: Z!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most underrated Home alone sequel
That never happens. When police are called to a burglary in progress with suspects possibly still on scene, they don't roll up with full sirens and lights. they want to try to catch the suspects while they're there.
It is so weird from watching Marvel movies and then seeing Scarlett Johansson play the sister is just so mind-boggling seeing her so young but she was still a bad ass with the slamming the door and the line “the it you’re referring to is my little brother” while it’s not the most bad ass moment in history you’re not gonna get much more bad ass when you’re that young
I personally don't think this movie's as bad as everyone says. I love how the villains are far more intimidating than Harry and Marv. Also, I find it interesting that despite them being international, more dangerous criminals, they seem to lose all their intelligence when actually trying to break into the house

I agree. It's very rewatchable. The kid is actually likeable compared to the annoying demeanor of Kevin and his incompetent family.

home alone 3 honestly so good, I never saw it as a 3rd home alone, it always just seemed like a separate movie that has the same concept in a sense but honestly this one is so interesting how they go into multiple houses & the car watching them is so neat, I think people's first judgment is "well that's not the Kevin we know & love" & "all the actors are different & it's not the same" yeah if you're comparing it's not the same it's really it's own, they just copied the names & him being home alone, but then this movie might've not gotten noticed without the name so I'm thankful they did cause I still watch this movie

I grew up seeing the originals in the theaters, and frankly I didn't mind this one, I think it's in a different category as the first two but it's completely watchable.

Rival thank you so much for watching Home Alone 3! Truly in my opinion number 3 is THE BEST out of the trilogy (the others after 1,2 and 3 are pure trash) and it’s my childhood favorite too even though I’ve seen 1 and 2. Number 3 has a special place in my heart and always will be number 1. The 3rd film doesn’t get the praise it deserves and doesn’t deserve the hate it has gotten since the film came out. Plus, if you really think about it. Kevin had two idiots who just robbed houses for a living. But Alex took on 4 professional bad guys against one kid. I mean the plot was bigger the traps were bigger set ups plus I found it super funny, I found it really funny with the animals helping out. I loved this movie a lot because of the extra changes they made to it. Kevin had to defend the home, which is true, but his family was Absent minded and were always thinking about themselves, and on the other hand I like Alex's family yeah there's drama but they didn't forget him at home like a bad parents like Kevin's parents, Alex was making phone calls and everyone thought he was making it up, but otherwise the truth of the matter the family did love him, and he took on bad guys on his own, his traps were clever, I hate to say it but I think they did better on this one, and he did a good job, and Kevin his movies are funny. But this one has a special place in my childhood heart. This is my favorite Home alone of all time. out of the 3. and I have already written down why.

I still prefer this one over Home Alone 2. There are some days when i ever prefer it over the first one. But that's more depending on my mood at the time rather than any comment on it's quality. The first is clearly the best.
Compared to the 4th and the 5th, i prefer this 3th by far...so i disagree when it s said that it s the worst home alone.

Don't know what ppl are talking about. My parents bought me Home alone 1-4 on dvd as a kid and although I LOVED the first 2, the third one was the one I rewatched the most
Only reason this one has the worst score is because it's not the McAllister family or Kevin like the first two. And it probably has a worst score then 4 and 5 because who's actually seen 5? 4 was so bad people blocked it from there memories, and until a few days ago I didn't know 6 was even a thing.

Home Alone 3 is terrible underrated. And people do not like it but minus for the movie is that it constantly compared to Home Alone 1 & 2 and this movie would pass much better IF it is not constantly compared to first two. Also Alex and his family are much more average ones then Kevins and he tried to call cops but they escaped and only sets traps when they ignore his warnings.

This is my favorite movie in the franchise.
I understand why the majority of people like the others better.
But it's not a bad movie though, stop saying it's bad just because it's different.

Feelings towards this movie are mixed but I think nearly everyone agrees that it's better than Home Alone 4 - at least it tries for some originality unlike number 4 that attempts to follow the original story except with fewer family members, different casting, worse jokes and the fact that they got Harry and Marv completely mixed up.
