He presents training in 7 days. Each of 7 items are commands that he believes a dog should know. They are presented in part ii of the book th-cam.com/users/postUgkxK8-VQWpYThx4IC6MiIvb6VS1ebTzzdxq . The parts of the guideare divided: part i know your dog part ii the seven commands part iii cures for 7 behavior problems. Each chapter presents a topic, a dog's story, and a "what to do". It was written simply and you can jump from chapter to chapter to review anything as needed.

The cats I’m living with now came home from the shelter with a respiratory problem. My vet said I could return them! as if they were under warranty or something?! I’d made a commitment to those kittens and wasn’t going to break faith over them being sick. It took awhile but they both got well. They do snore adorable little squeaky snores when they’re sleeping curled up 🥰 Both about CiCi’s age, beautiful and very healthy.

It’s so great how she loves him regardless of the fact he doesn’t give her what she expects. That pretty much sums up a ‘cat person’. There’s no condition attached. It’s about accepting them for who they are. Realising it’s not about your ego when it comes to a cat.

Yes, thank you for giving Cici a loving home. I am an older lady who adopted a kitten from a shelter under the persuasive words of a dear friend. I have always loved cats and all animals but because of my age, I hesitated. The kitten was from a feral mother. He is 3 years old now and quite a character, but I love him very much. His name is Count Vladimir Pussolini Lafontaine, aka Vlad The Impaler and Monster. He lives up to his many names.
Now I realize that I must provide financially for his future life after my death. I don't know how to go about this. How does one set up a trust fund for a cat? I feel I need an attorney. I do not want to leave my poor child an unprotected orphan. I should have adopted a much older cat.

    • @lornalafontaine6434
      @lornalafontaine6434 ปีที่แล้ว +8

I should add that he came with the name Vladimir after the infamous Count. The kitty is all black. Because of superstition, many people do not want to adopt black cats. How ridiculous!! Black cats look just like mini Panthers.

@@lornalafontaine6434 - we contacted Best Friends. I think they're pretty trustworthy when it comes to pet care.
You have one cat, so it shouldn't be too expensive setting up a will with _specific_ instructions that BF is to be contacted when the time comes. Their main shelter is in Kanab UT, and quite a place to visit.
That's why we chose BFs. There are other places, but be very cautious. So, start with BFs.
My insurance is to be utilized for our cats. Since no family members want our cats, they lose 😁
If no one wants to step up, our cats deserve to be our bennies. They've given unconditional LOVE.
Best of luck to your search. Hug Count Vlad 💖

I had to have one of my two dogs put down five years ago. She was living on borrowed time with four different cancers, but had responded to conservative treatment, outliving the most dire pronouncements.
I stayed beside her on the floor through the entire process, holding her and petting her, with her previous person on the phone talking to her, 'til she was gone.
I got home without her and my other dog mourned with me in his way, looking for her in her usual resting places and clinging to me.
I'm getting 'Dash another canine companion later this month, thinking of onboarding a cat, too.

Before you paint all those who adopt and then return a pet as terrible people, consider the case of the poorly-trained 70lb. adolescent male husky my parents once adopted and had to surrender to the rescue a couple days later because he was uncontrollable and had the potential to injure their family and other people. (Note that they immediately signed him up for obedience training, but classes wouldn't begin until many days later.)
He would drag us and lunge at rabbits while we were walking him, jump on us with such force that my mom once fell hard into a pile of wood, jump on and nip complete strangers in the hand, get so agitated when guests came over that he'd lift and violently shake his large kennel, and repeatedly attempt to jump the (tall) fence in the backyard when he spotted coyotes and loudly bark at them.
My parents had a big house and a big yard for him to run around in, bought him everything he needed, signed him up for obedience training, and asked around for advice on how to handle him. But at the end of the day, my dad was terrified that the dog would injure his family and be a liability issue, so he surrendered the dog to the same rescue he was adopted from, donated them everything he'd bought for the dog, and told them to keep his adoption fee as a donation. The husky was immediately sent to live with another family on the waiting list.

@@miaomiaochan - so. If you know anything about huskies that's not unusual. You really can't expect a trained dog. More research before getting anything is crucial and also your responsibility. People get dogs they can't control all the time and give up on them.
My first dog I swore to myself "no border collies, no heelers, no huskies". Because I didn't believe I would be good at providing what a high energy dog needed. I got a heeler/German shepherd mix because I couldn't leave her where she was miserable. She NEEDED to run. I am not a runner. I committed to taking her to a nature area twice a day for hikes. Which we did for nearly 10 years. It took her 6 months to figure out that she would get her opportunity everyday. She calmed immediately when she figured it out.
Your responsibility is the research and figuring out how best to take care of an animal before you get one. Then commit to doing whatever needs doing. Too many people don't think first.
I read somewhere don't lie to young children and animals. They don't understand the betrayal.
The dog I have now started as a nipper and is extremely possessive of me. And hated men the first year. She nipped 3 diferent strange men in the butt. All were kind and understanding and we worked it out. I have to watch her carefully all the time. But lots of exercise and routine works. She's controllable. She needed time and commitment.
And every one has second thoughts at the beginning of an adoption. You think, I'm an idiot. Why did I do this? Don't think after you get animal. Thinking is before you do that. Just do the work.

My cat's personality was pretty much the same! I got him at 8 weeks old, a rescue. He was pretty independent and extremely territorial. I loved him all the same! He was what he was! Period! Keep your cat away from hair ties, rubber bands etc... A cat's tongue is completely different from a dog's tongue. Cats cannot push out anything that gets caught in their mouths. They can choke on whatever they can't swallow. And if they do swallow objects that are not good for them, that's another bigger price to pay. I learned that with my cat when he was playing with a rubber band. Luckily I heard him start choking on one and I rushed to pull it out. I reached this information on their tongues before this happened. So I knew right away what was going on. I had some of the very large rubber bands. For some reason he just had to have them. If it was the smell of them, I don't know. I soon kept them in a container he could not get into. Stinker!!! I loved him all the same. He would play with his toys the same way also. Play with it for a little while and he was done. I did figure it out to buy him everything he did love! Multiples! ❤️

I'm 70. I grew up in NJ with three Boxers in succession. After my parents cruelly euthanized our last because it was "too much trouble" to take her to Florida when they moved in 1973, I had no pets in my life (other than a cat who belonged to a woman I dated in the 80's) for the next 48 years until my sister-in-law offered my wife and I a cat that they had adopted from a shelter, that was not working out. I took the cat grudgingly in 2011 rather than see it euthanized. Within a day I could not imagine my life without Franklin. The hardest day in my life was when I had to take him to the vet to be put down because of aggressive cancer (my wife threatened to call the humane society on me if I did not take him). The vet said I could leave but I held him in my arms. Lying next to me right now is Beulah - an orange Tabby. Condition of adoption was a single cat home as she had been previously adopted from the Washington County TN shelter and returned when she did not get along with her first adopters existing cat. I cannot envision my life going forward without a cat.

My 21 year old cat passed away on New Year's this year. I had her since I was 2. She was also kinda just like my roommate, was not really snuggly and definitely not a lap cat. She was grumpy and sassy to the core but had a soft spot for me and eventually bonded to me as we grew up. She would mysteriously show up whenever I was upset or sick and made sure to be there for me in her own way. She was also verryyy cunning and smart. I fully loved her and would've done anything for her. I love that Cici is repping cats that are not as conventionally "sweet" as other cats, but still make a wonderful companion regardless. I can tell she really respects his boundaries and his personality. Sending love!

Love this-- he's so sweet.... I've had two that lived to 33.. and he still climbed, played etc. like a kitten... the ones I have now , 3 of them- 2 are real brothers I rescued in California- and they're 5 now-- and one is an "adopted" rescue and he's 7 months.. just recently fixed- and i thought that would calm him down-- didn't!!! The two older ones are fine- they have NEVER clawed, or scratched me - EVER- not even playing- and they are moderate in all things-- the little one-- has two speeds-- WIDE OPEN and still!! ha. I can't get him to stop using his claws to get my attention-- he's NOT trying to hurt me- he just wants my attention- and doesn't stop it with the claws out. NONE of them scratch anything except their cardboard boxes- which I keep til they are "finished" with them-- and their climbing tree poles that are rope wrapped.

@@rubypickles1836 AND that was another reason I said KEEPING them INSIDE all the time does NOT shorten their lives or make it less enjoyable for them--- they loved it- I babied them- played with them, and gave them the best I could of everything- including my attention and time.. and some jerks on here and lectured me about I should have let them out--- (BS- the average lifespan of an outdoor cat- is 2-4 years..less around here due to the coyotes etc. that have become numerous..).

I've never heard of a cat living past 25! When we took one of our babies in to be put to sleep at 22 after he had his second stroke (first left him blind. He was fine with that, had lived in our house his whole life. Second one he lost all function of half his body and you could tell he was ready) the vet said he and his brother were the oldest cats they'd ever met.
Currently we have 3 15yr olds (their mom got abandoned by a neighbor when they moved out, it was -40 and we brought her in even though she hated other cats. She had kittens that week. We found her a home where she could be an only child and we still have the babies) 2 still act like kittens, one is super loving but sick.
I can't speak to outdoor cats living long lives. Every one I've ever known was killed before it reached 5. Either hit by a car, eaten by a coyote (our coyotes are bigger than out west because they're part wolf), or die from infection after fighting with other animals. I could never have an outdoor cat. My best friend lives in the county and keeps collecting cats people abandon out there. They've got 12 now. The most recent one abandoned had been declawed. Some become barn cats, others house cats if they're young enough to become accustomed to fully indoor life.
IDK what your doing to help your babies live into their 30s, but vets around the country would pay for that knowledge! Especially if they were still happy and active!
