I work here in Saudi Arabia as a housemaid. I can say that my Employer's daughters are very lucky to have an open minded parents. My male boss even sent his daughter to Ireland to study English language.

@Herbie Shevers She wasn't kidnapped. That blonde woman sold her out once they were close to coast of India. Could be the man involved, too. But, she was sold out. Why would she taunt her family when so close to freedom? Nah....She was sold out. I believe now she's dead. Her and her other sister who ran away.
@Herbie Shevers Well, i find it awfully strange and just pure stupid for the Princess to antagonize her family like that. If really true? Then, its unfortunate.
In a country that is driven by fear, people do these kind of things. That's normal, it always happens in these kind of dictatorial systems. The individual is not to blame, the system is to blame.
The fear they felt while they were on the run disturbed me to the core. I was in their situation with my husband here in Ireland. He abused me emotionally and cheated repeatedly and was addicted to weed. When I called the guards on him during one of his psychotic episodes they advised me to go to women refuge. He went nuts and called all my family members back home and trashed my reputation. He said stuff that could get me killed if I go home. He also didn't stop sending threats to me and I felt very shaken and petrified. I can't be thankful enough for the support I had in Ireland. The refuge, the therapist and psychiatrist all rushed to help me without any payments. I finally made peace with my family after a while when they realized how of a lier my husband is. But the fear I felt and the emotional damage is unforgivable.

Not all have violent men in their homes, but many do. Things are changing in Saudi Arabia, but it's slow, from what I've read. The author is Jean Sasson. She is an American who lived in Saudi Arabia for a few years in the 70s, and has written in the style of the women she has gotten to know, even become friends with, sharing their stories. They are not easy reads. Very painful, painful realities that I think most people would rather just pretend don't exist.

Danielle Bridgeman I agree with top comment. The wife in this situation was definitely abused more so following the girls’ disappearance. America isn’t 100% free but we do have freedom of speech and can say things such as but not limited to: it is no surprise women especially are seeking asylum and running from a country which grants them little to no freedoms interpersonally and online. A country which mandates ideologies such as sexuality and religion is one which thrives on a dead system, enriched by the powerlessness of its people. The rich get richer, the poor stay poor. And the women? Well they just have to have sex with old, rich creeps to feel like they have value in their own country. Imagine being the wife in this situation. I know deep down she’s rooting for her daughters even if she’s stuck with her husband’s hands on her throat.
@Danielle Bridgeman Dude, chill the hell out and stop defending things you don't understand. I'm an Arab and I lived under oppression. Non Arab muslims or converts don't live the same life style as arab women living in arab countries. So yes Islam can be a safe haven for some people and simultaneously be the reason people live in fear and oppression. Don't discredit people's experience just because you saw one side. When the girls mentioned being abused by their father, can you imagine what would happen to the wife? All the blame will fall on her shoulders for not raising her daughter's "right". You can not even fathom the danger. You don't see how truly brave these women are. What is the USA promoting? Are you implying people shouldn't share their stories to keep up the image that Saudi is somehow heaven on earth? All countries have their shame. I don’t think any of us English folks from North America can truly understand the situation there. Saudi is not perfect but a lot of people are happy. This is obviously not the norm and most women in Saudi don't suffer this (I know because I live in Riyadh) but those who do should get protection and should be able to live without the threat of death etc. "There is no compulsion in religion.." [Surah Baqarah, 2:256] Even then this isn't something prescribed in Islam.
Master Ali what does religion have anything to do with this? We're not talking about faith, we're talking about girls who are way over they're head, their parents are just trying to prevent something the girls will regret later on in their lives.... If not in this life, then the next. I myself live in Jeddah, and I am a father of 3 girls, If my girls wanted to go exploring, I'd let them, but once they decide to go on their own, take off their scarfs, ect. Then I'm responsible as a parent for their actions, how they act is a reflection of me. Parents always know wants best for their children, hopefully one day you understand that! If my child even hinted that he or she wanted to go off on their own on some fantasy that their dreaming in, where the world is "too tough for them, and they don't have rights 😢".... Please! If girls from other parts of the world thought that, they'd sooner or later become homeless, drugs, or prostitution, whereas Saudi females don't have it as such. Sometimes we don't know how good we have it until it's gone!
@@TrusttheY parents always WANT best for their children. Its true. But parents don't always know what's best. Parents are human being after all. And children, once they reach certain age, they have mind of their own. I'm not saying that parents are wrong nor am i saying children are wrong. I'm saying that we all human being that may do mistakes and wrong judgement regardless of our age. sometimes parents are too obssess about giving the best for their children, that they forget that children also have dreams, likes and dislikes and aspirations. And what's good for one people may not be good for other. What make one person happy may not be what makes another person happy. In my opinion, Wise parents are those who can do productive and meaningful conversation with their children, learn to understand their children point of view and also able to communicate their point of view to the children properly. Who knows you all will have same understanding and decision.

There was an incident in 2017, I think, when two UAE princesses escaped by boat into the Indian ocean to escape to my country India with a plan to seek asylum in USA from India as a base. But the king came to know about it, informed the Indian authorities and in a lightning operation within a few hours with coast guard and naval special forces, Indian government made a grab in international waters and handed them over to UAE authorities. They never reached Indian territory. I know this part of the story but the Indian government nor the BJP have never explained to the people of India their rationale for such action, which is against Hindu culture. Could you please do a investigative piece on that. I want all three sides of the story, especially the Indian government's.

1.) Wahabism is one ultra conservative interpretation of Islam, specifically a sub branch of Hanafi Sunnism, and it's recent. The roots of Wahabism are only like 300 years old, so the majority of the world's Muslims aren't Wahabi, and don't wear the niqab. My country has more than a million Muslims and I have never seen anyone wear it.
2.) The niqab has no explicit basis in Qu'ran
3.) You can wear whatever you want. I don't doubt for one moment that the vast majority of woman in SA WANT to wear the niqab. That's not an issue. The issue is that they don't have a choice. It's a legal obligation put forth by the state.

Forcing a religion on someone makes them hate it. So if you think that your doing a good deed by ‘forcing’ a religion, know that your not and your just making them hate that religion and not wanna be part of it. It’s so frustrating since it such a beautiful religion.

Religion can be so beautiful and powerful when the right people are positively representing it. But it makes me angry when people force religious ideas onto people . Such a beautiful religion : Quran surah 4 verse 34 men are in charge of women by right of what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend for maintenance from their wealth
So righteous are women who are devoutly obedient guarding in their husbands absence what Allah would have them guard but those wives from whom you fear arrogant first advised them then if they persist forsake them in bed ... And finally strike them but if they obey you , seek no means against them ...

These are real people that have the right to get protection and regardless of where the people that help them are from... this was a life or death experience. Instead of trying to silence people keep an open mind.

@@youarepretty5299 Abusive people go on vacations too. I'm also Arab and I know a shitton of people in abusive families that go on vacations. There are no rules preventing them from doing that. This family seems like a pretty standard Saudi family, who can afford vacations but also do comply with very strict sexist cultural norms that heavily restrict their daughters' freedoms. Having enough money to go on a vacation does not magically make you more tolerant and loving. Abuse is also really complicated. The parents probably think everything they're doing is completely normal and consider that they do love their daughters ( which is why they beat them and restrict their freedoms- to make their daughters conform to what they think is best for them, no matter how mislead that belief is).
I don’t think any of us English folks from North America can truly understand the situation there. Saudi is not perfect but a lot of people are happy. In uni I had a (female) friend who was an exchange student from Saudi. She was very family oriented and always said nice things about her dad. She never drank alcohol or had a boyfriend but she was ok with that. I don’t think she was abused since she didn’t break the rules /: The concept of arranged marriage and male only leadership is not Islam exclusive. Christians have the FLDS and Islam has Saudi Arabia/Pakistan etc. This type of cult like brainwashing is not how I like my religion but who am I to judge. People will defend their beliefs to death.
Also this friend was rich af (like these girls probably were). Her family owned a 4 story condo building that housed their entire extended family. She would fly back any time we had more than 3 days off. In Canada, she was renting a $2500/month apartment with her brother and sister.

"There is no compulsion in religion.." [Surah Baqarah, 2:256]
Even then this isn't something prescribed in Islam.

This just shows that money doesn't mean everything. These girls clearly came from a upper middle class family judging by their phones and yet they had NO freedom.
I praised the 2 men who are helping these young ladies. Real heros, good gentleman. May God bless your pathways. We are praying for your success.🙏💯👍👏
agreeddddd so rare men of this kind, great examples
I admire the courage of those two women .... I admire them both -... and I admire those who helped ... God bless you all ...
Why is it hard for some people to realize that not all people are the same and that just because they don't subscribe to your beliefs and values doesn't mean they're bad people. I'm happy to hear that the girls are safe. I hope everyone going through this kind of situation is safe too
If they’re killing people for something they can’t control, then that does make them bad.
No, if people are being killed/abused because of their religion/gender then I will say that belief is evil. Saudi Arabia seems like a very evil country

@@f4wnz132 I am sorry . but this is ISLAMIC SHARIA , a fact , sharia sees women as not having brains as much as a man . A FACT . Its not Islamophobic if you discuss these genuine issues , most PEW research shows how Muslims want to impose sharia, but they talk these issues sitting inside a pub in some western country having democracy . They rarely go back to the middle east . Has anybody not noticed that most Muslims seeks asylum in the west, but never in any Islamic country ! Now some Muslim may question this comment saying this is not what Islam teaches , but bud , 50 sharia rule states have these exact rules for women , its time for you religion to reform . P.S quran has many quotes about women biasness , so lets not go there .
When she said "I feel so relieved" I felt that. Feels good. Wish you both all the freedom in the world!
As a saudian girl,I can say that all of what they said it true
I sympathize with you, my child, if i was rich , i would have donated money, from India

TO ANY WOMAN OR GIRL IN A SIMILAR SITUATION TO THESE GIRLS: If you’re reading this and you’re in a similar situation to these two girls, don’t worry, you got this. Your day will come, I am sure of it. I’m from Ireland so I never had to experience anything like this, but I’m sending so much love and hope your way. You are so brave to even think of doing this, far braver than I could ever be. If you need a sign to make a change THIS IS THAT SIGN! You got this girl! ❤️❤️❤️🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

I hope all the Arab countries have more understanding and give the women their full rights, like Tunisia, Egypt, Lebanon and Morocco this also Arab countries but the women have more freedom to do everything like men i don't really know why Saudi and Gulf countries still treating women like this

I was born in Saudi. ( That doesn't make me saudi, if you didn't know that)
I want to clarify that is the people's culture not the religion that is bad.
People interpret Islam's teachings into their own twisted benefits.
@Dwan Sangma Because 1400 years ago the arabic language was different. Imagine reading English that is older than shakespear english.
People today speak a dialect of arabic not the original arabic.
Before you mockingly ask such question, educate yourself.
@Dwan Sangma Plus people take verses out of context and misinterpret it.
Quran is and always be perfect whether you like it or not.
That is so true I am arab expact born in saudi arabia but still I am not a saudi so I saw all with my eyes and understood it all that Islam not practiced in saudi the culture haijacked and overlored Islam way of living and teachings and principles . Saudi men uses Islam viel to thier benefits and thier fantasy .
You are wrong and don't know anything about Islam

I am from India.
I feel so bad for those 2 princesses. it gives me chills thinking about what could've possibly happened to them after the handover.
23:00 so the "father" (in quotes bc he doesn't really deserve that word) accuses his daughters of being severe liars.. then why does he want them back so bad? he is so evil and the only liar. that is often how narcissistic sociopathic "parents" act and behave and treat their daughters. makes you think that a lot of narcissistic abuse is rooted in patriarchy, misogyny and sexism.
He doesn’t want them, he wants to be admired by the men around him and the fact his daughters escaped his control is damaging to his ego. That is it, he cares more for his pride than his children. What a douchbag.

I have tears in my eyes while watching this. I am also a Muslim woman, but I am fortunate enough to be born in a country where my rights are recognized and protected and my parents are lenient enough to make me be independent. I wish more girls, regardless of religion or backward culture can speak up and end such tyrannical practices. I have just finished my bachelor’s degree in international studies and am contemplating if I will pursue law or a masters degree. I just hope that I could be of help to my fellow women, most especially to us being marginalized by men in our immediate society who conform to the ways that would suit them and invoke religion to subdue us. Tabarakallah my sisters, I wish you a free and peaceful life from now on.
These backwards rules are because of backwards religion… if you condemn these practices, condemn the cult.
